To say in a word, Horrible! I went to A-Z because they are…read morelocal rather than drive 10 minutes to a well known embroidery shop. I had heard good things about A-Z but now I am questioning those people's opinions! I asked to get USS Chippewa Valley stitched with 3/4" white lettering across the crescent opening in the back of a baseball cap. I wanted large letters that would span the width. "No problem!" I was told. Today when I picked the hat up, 1 WEEK LATER, it is messed up! First thing I noticed was the bad stitching. The V and A in VALLEY is spaced as if 2 words. The ALLEY is spaced correctly. The cap actually reads USS CHIPPEWA V ALLEY. But that pales in comparison to: THE LETTERING!!!! The lettering is 1/2 inch and scrunched across the top spanning barely 3 inches instead of what should have been 6". OK, fine. A mistake was made. Things happen right. I walked outside quite mad but not wanting to make a scene but a moment later returned to ask why these things happened. They then informed me, too late I may add, that what was originally wanted isn't possible. She can't do more spaced out lettering across the entire crescent opening. I asked why the messed up stitching and "the machine must have caught it funny." Yeah, funny...... Not my word. My word.... Horrible, or maybe garbage. If I was offered a refund then maybe all is well but not so much as an "I'm sorry." Save the hassle. GO ELSEWHERE!!!! The work space is generous with plenty of lights, great design boards, irons and nice cutting station. The quilt shop has fun, new, and a good variety of fabric. Plenty of notions and kits! We will be back!

I think if I had a shop like this in my area, I would probably more seriously consider taking up quilting! The shop is laid out in a pleasing way, with a good variety of fabrics and many beautiful samples of quilts hanging on the walls and also smaller samples at eye level near the fabrics. They had a bunch of books and patterns to peruse (including some regular sewing patterns for like little bags and things), and most impressively, there were banks of quilting machines that I am guessing may be used by the shop customers, including a couple of really large quilting machines! There were customers using the big machines while I was there, which was really cool. The shop ladies seemed really nice as well, and thankfully not hover-y. I will definitely try to stop by again next time I'm in Rochester! Hopefully I will have some projects in mind that I don't yet have a fabric for by then.
