Very disappointed with this shop. I have been going there for a few months, and they have good steaks. Today, I went in for an A5 filet. They were out of the precut A5, and the owner took a Snake River Farms Gold tenderloin and cut two filets and sold them to me as A5 filets. Don't get me wrong, SRF Gold is a great steak, but it is not 255 dollars a lb!! He knowingly did this, which is the disappointing part - and why I will never go back. I'm a people guy, so service is important to me. I've been going here for about two years, but today I have to post. I've learned quite a bit about protein in general, but the most important thing is to trust the butcher. So today, I scored a 2" premium ribeye and though I had a selection in mind, I asked for their advice. They sent me in another direction and it was a triumph. With a steak this big, my default is a dry brine, reverse sear, and brown butter braise with garlic, thyme, and rosemary. I have to say, this was the best steak I've ever had the pleasure to eat. Not because what I did was special, but because what Robby and his son do is special. I can't say enough good things. Findley's is your local, knowledgeable, friendly butcher shop! If you've never been there, you don't know what good meat tastes like. In the past month, we've bought six-ounce filets for four, cut to order and vacuum sealed for use a few days from purchase. These are The Most Tender filets I've ever had in my life, buttery, flavorful, and literally good until the last bite. Generally I give my husband half of whatever steak I order at a restaurant, but I eat the whole filet from Findley's. Their fresh meat section is full from ground beef to tri trip. Additionally, they offer a wide variety of meat and seafood in the frozen section from scallops to cobia, kielbasa to jalapeño cheese salami, elk to quail. And don't miss out on the hot sauce-- delicious with a smoky flavor-- and the variety of jerky. Perhaps my experience is an exception. I called to order 10# of sliced bacon and 10# of medium pan sausage. I asked for the bacon to be sliced very thin. I have been doing this for years with Striplings, but in moving to Dallas, Striplings is out of reach. So I found Findley's. I called the Acworth store (because they do the slicing), placed my order, and when it was ready, picked it up. I asked them to freeze it, which they did. When we got home, and the first two packages of bacon, once thawed, smelled rancid. It has little taste once cooked, and was not sliced thin. The first two packages of sausage were marked "Mild", not "Medium", and were as bland as plain ground up pork. If I can't find a good butcher shop in or near Dallas, I may have to start driving to Watkinsville again for Striplings. I will say the service was fantastic (aside from the quality of the meat). I may go to the local Findley's and try some steak, just to see if this was an exception. read more

I've been wanting to try Findley's and taste the difference, if there is one. Yes, I'm one of those that has only bought meat at K or P. My friends say you have to try Costco, that's where the best meat is. I rarely believe my friends and this was no exception. A little research and off I go to Findley's. It was the closest butcher and I've driven by it for years. My wife requested tenderloins for V day and who am I to argue. I walked in , order two 8 ounce filets. The prices are clearly marked. Beef tenderloins will set you back about $40/lb. That's about twice the cost you pay at any large supermarket or discount warehouse. You are buying Prime beef that you will never find outside a butcher shop. So, was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. I cooked them in a cast iron and finished them in the oven. The best filets we have ever eaten. That includes high end steak houses. The most tender and could be cut with a fork. It will be difficult to go back to inferior meat, but why would I? If you're looking to treat yourself to a treat, you will thank me. read more

We have been buying the family pack for about a year. We love it. We recently moved to Woodstock and still drive here for the package. This is in a family neighborhood but you can't bring your kids in!? I came in to pick up my weekly package and left due to the employee making a comment about my 3 year old looking into the case. Every time I walk in, the owner or his son is there and they greet me with a huge smile! They know my name and are always offering new suggestions. I usually buy Filet Mignon, but have also bought Kobe hamburger for which is to die! I always pick up a great bone for my dog. They have fresh fish, wonderful Jerkey that comes in an array of flavors. Many different kinds of sausage including deer. After reading everyone's reviews it appears that the only way people shop here is if they use groupon, otherwise it is a rip off. Haha! In all seriousness... I went by the shop to get some tenderloin to smoke for Christmas: 1. The workers were not friendly at all. The totally ignored me upon entering and once they finally asked if I wanted to get anything, they weren't all that nice. 2. The meat in the coolers were brownish/green in color. I am not a professional butcher, BUT I know that good meat shouldn't have the color it had! 3. The prices were RIDICULOUS!!! They charge TWICE the price of other stores like Kroget, Publix and 30-40% more than other speciality meat markets. I can see charging a bit more due to being a speciality shop (but only if the meat was fresh and not brown), but they are crazy overpriced!!! My best advice is this: avoid this place and drive the 20-30 minutes to Patak Bohemian Meats... It's a much better option and I've been going there for years! read more

I went to this butcher, this was my 1st time buying meat anywhere besides the local grocery store.The store was very clean. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, he answered my questions and suggested meats when I could only briefly describe what I wanted. The were so many choices fresh and frozen and package deals fresh and frozen. They also had grass fed choices. All the fresh meat was cut that day, it was displayed nicely. The prices were displayed for each cut and very fair considering the quality and freshness. He packaged my order the way I requested since it was going to two different households. I'm sold, I will never buy meat from a grocery store again. My next order I'm going to buy a freezer package deal. The only problem is deciding which one to buy. The negative reviews on here are mostly due to the "fat America" mentality therefore just about every negative has something to say about price. Surprise surprise. Price is only an issue in the absence of value. To hear people compare Findleys cuts to publix or Kroger instantly discredits the review all together. I live in kennesaw but used to live near the dekalbs farmers market. The difference I noticed when I moved up here was the amount of obesity per capita. I mean it's night and day. After reading these reviews...I now know why. Not only is the quality great at Findleys but the passion is there as well. If you want real meat and knowledge go to your neighborhood butcher...if you want chemical pumped cheap meat on clearance as if it was blouse go to your "big box" hog trough to feed your fat video game playing kids. read more

For starters, the bad reviews on here are not only old, but erroneous. Findleys is more expensive than average grocery stores because THEY ARE A BUTCHER SHOP. You're comparing apples to oranges, and thats ridiculous. Ask any of the guys why the prices are higher, and they will happily explain.-and as far as "rudeness" goes, these three guys are the absolute nicest, down to earth guys you will ever meet. They are laid back and friendly, time after time. The meet is always fresh- they do sell aged meet, under the right conditions- and it is excellent. So maybe the people who leave reviews about discolored products dont know their stuff. Again, just ask. I love this place. I get all my meat here on a monthly basis, and enjoy the time in the shop as well as eating the product at home! No complaints at all- this place is wonderful! Give them a shot. read more

A friend with a food blog recommended this place to me. I am a 30 year old woman and I had never been to a butcher shop before so I was a bit hesitant. It seems like something for people who know what they are doing, if you know what I mean. However, I shouldn't have worried! These guys are great and they'll answer all of your questions and help you find what you need. They are patient and won't make you feel rushed or like you are a bother. I picked up some of their bacon which my family devoured. Also, a Boston butt that my husband smoked last weekend, it is so delicious! This weekend we're going to try our hand at venison burgers. Went here today due paying $10 for $20 worth of food off of www.halfoffdepot.com! I bought Andouille Sausage, Bohemian Sausage, Deer Sausage, Brunswick Stew and a big ass snack for my Miniature Schnauzer and I was only $8 over my $20 coupon! I sampled all that minus the dog bone and was impressed! I'll buy more meat from there soon! The staff was very friendly and cordial! The Deer Sausage is GREAT! Slice it and spray some Non-Stick Butter spray on the skillet and sprinkle some Garlic Powder on it and it's good to go! read more

I have had a number of great items from here. The certified angus roast beef they roast in house is great. I enjoyed the smoked beef brisket and BBQ ribs on the hot buffet. For $6.99, you get a ton of food. The andouille sausage has great flavor and balanced back heat. I've enjoyed a few flavors of the beef and venison jerky. They're always sampling items on Saturdays. They're also very big in the Georgia hunting community, as a collection center for GA Hunters for the Hungry. If you like a good steak, this is your place to visit. read more

She greeted us, asked us if we had any questions, etc. He decided on T-Bones. Just cooked them and they were some of the BEST steaks I've ever had or made. Been going here for years. Don't usually write reviews but my experience today drives me here. I Ordered a 4 bone prime rib roast for thanksgiving. They asked me for a 75 deposit. No problem but at that point I inquired what they thought the total price would. Guy on the phone told me it would be an estimate but prob around 150-175 total. Little expensive but I'm already on the phone and I've usually been taken care of. When I got there today they revealed that it was $300+! An estimate is an estimate but double? When I asked for an explanation the attitude was that I should know what a roast should cost. Well gentlemen i thought I did. I went so far as to even ask you, the experts, so there would be no surprises. Not an I'm sorry, not one ounce of understanding was given. Just an attitude and the excuse that the guy must have been new. I hope the $300 was worth it because you had me in a tight spot with a large crowd coming over, but this will be my last visit to your establishment. I like getting my family's monthly meat budget in one place. For $200 I get all the meat I need and it's wrapped the way I like it to be. I urge you to double check your order before you leave the building because I was given twice the amount of stuff for the money.
