Just got back from a haircut at this studio.
Since this is a bad review, I don't think I should mention the person who cut my hair.
I usually go to a different studio, but the stylist I always have was booked, but I need a haircut so bad, I searched on Yelp and found this place. Since it has mostly good reviews, so why not give it a try.
For your information, I am a guy, I was just there for the haircut.
She asked me what I wanted, I said I still want to be able to tuck my hair behind my ears, length should be 1-2 inches below my ears. My hair was shoulder-length long, so it kinda was growing/splitting left and right, and I told her I don't want that, I want to cut it so my hair looks straight at the back but still have the medium long hair look. She said ok, then off we go shampooing.
Shampoo was ok, massage was light compared to the place I usually go to. I see two issues during shampoo, she didn't ask me if the water temperature was ok, well it was ok, but she still should have asked. During shampoo, waster got into my eyes, she didn't try to clean that up, again, I can only experience this in a low-end hair salon.
Then there is the cut, by looking at the "equipment" she had - a giant comb and a pair of scissors, I asked myself if I was at a barbershop. The one thing I don't get is that why couldn't she use a smaller comb? She keep knocking my head with this giant, and yes it hurts, and I would be surprised if my scalp was not bleeding.
So in the end, I didn't get the haircut I asked for, the back was still wavy, not short enough to make it straight. She did ask me if it was okay and if there was anything to be fixed, I said no, because
1. it is not going to be any different
2. My original hair stylist should be able to fix it if there is no further damage.
I had a thought that I am receiving such poor service is because I am a man, and it was only 25 bucks, so why take care of me when they can make more from female customers.
You need to know this, if I was here to get a "cheap" haircut, I would have gone to a barbershop for 8 bucks. I usually pay 40-50 bucks for my haircut, so I am not here to save a buck. In the end, I guess I got something what I paid for, but let's just say what I had today wasn't even worth 25 bucks, I can get what I have today for 8 bucks at my local barbershop.
In summary, I am not sure if this place is for guys, but certainly the person I had does not cut men's hair as she advertised on their website.
Again, this is just one hairstylist in the salon....maybe other hairstylists are better. read more
