Okay so I was one of those who used to only drink water from the TAP because I grew up hearing that Hawaii has clean water compared to the mainland and other places where you can tell the water tastes like chlorine. I was adamant that tap water is the best. But then someone turned us on to the Tyent countertop water filter and we were loving the hydrogen and alkaline drinking water. My dog's tear stains went from dark black streaks to totally white. So at that point I became convinced that there's more gunk in our Hawaii water than I had thought. So then we got a whole house filter and softener, which was another game changer. Every faucet in our house dispensed filtered, conditioned water. It was great. But then we learned that there are certain heavy metals that can only be filtered out with a reverse osmosis system. And by then, water filtration had become a pretty top priority for us. So I got the X16 reverse osmosis filter because it was the best, top of the line, and I believe my family is worth it. What is more important than the water you ingest every day, that makes up what--60-75% of your body? The X16 is incredible because the flow rate is so high--I fill up my water bottle in no time, it looks great and the bulk of it is under the sink. No more eye sore on my countertop (besides the rest of the clutter). And there's a remineralization filter so whatever the water softener has eliminated for the sake of our pipes and appliances, it adds back in the few that are good for you. The water that comes out is alkaline too, so that kinda of made us not need the Tyent anymore (though I do miss the hydrogen water). Since we started filtering our water with more than just the refrigerator filter, our lives have changed infinitely for the better. One thing I always think about is what diseases might we be preventing just by effectively filtering out carcinogens and other toxic contaminants PROVEN to exist in our Honolulu municipal water? We tested the water ourselves and it is scary what is in there--it's more than you think! read more
