Any gelato that has decaf espresso, so I can treat myself to an affogato later in the day, is A-one in my book! We tried a new Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood and decided to try Figo for dessert; they opened a year or so ago and I've been hearing good things about it. So - yes, they made me an excellent decaf affogato with stracciatella gelato, so I was happier than a pig in the mud, lol. They sell a cup with 2 flavors, so my husband had that. He chose a chocolate with nuts in it, and a cherry vanilla kind of flavor that the scooper advised him has "a little alcohol in it, not a lot, is that okay?" Sure, why not. The Upper East Side seems to be a new ice cream and gelato destination as lately many of these shops of cold creamy goodness have established locations here. Figo is another one that we tried out recently. Their gelato flavors are delicious and we received a healthy portion in the small cups we ordered. They let us try a few samples before we settled on our flavors, took a seat at the window counter, and enjoyed on a warm summer afternoon. I had their signature Figo flavor which was really tasty. If you love gelato and are on the Upper East Side, you must go to Figo, ASAP! I have had gelato all over Italy and at numerous other places. Figo is my absolute favorite. From the very first taste, you will love it. I have tried several flavors and they are all exceptional. I feel like I'm at a café in Italy, savoring the best gelato. I plan to try every flavor, although I already know that there cant possibly be a flavor at Figo that isn't mouthwatering. Figo makes their gelato with the best ingredients which, makes the flavor all that more enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My favorite flavors are - tiramisu, Figo, pistachio, dark chocolate, cannoli, Ferrero Rocher and stracciatella. Clearly I'm a huge fan They also have lovely pasties and very good, Italian coffee. Excellent gelato and a few sorbet in a clean, nice little shop around UES/Yorkville. Had the cotton candy (tastes as good as it looks) and the extremely dark chocolate sorbet (extremely rich and bittersweet). Would easily recommend--staff were friendly and prompt, and offered samples of any flavors. read more

The staff is efficient and welcoming. The chocolate sorbet is amazing and worth going out of your way. We also had strawberry sorbet which was fine but not special. They have limited seating inside and a few tables outside. Definitely a good stop if you are nearby. read more

Solid gelato spot! My friend and I came in on a Thursday night and waited like 5 minutes to order. They offer samples so we definitely took advantage of that. I got the regular cup with pistachio and dubai chocolate! Both were yummy but the dubai chocolate got bland after a bit like the afternoon be in your mouth. I love their pistachio flavors but honestly they just do justice to all their flavors! Please try the flavors out! They give out generous portions worth the price. We had dinner at nearby Gyu-Kaku on East 50th and Third, and everyone wanted a gelato after. While our favorite is Amorino, travelling across town at the time when people would be going to Broadway shows did not seem like a good idea, so by googling for gelato near us, we found this gem. Drove to it, finding parking after 7 PM was not an issue. Small place, two employees only, working very efficiently to get what seemed like a long line moving quickly. Amazing, authentic gelato, not too sweet, full of flavor and the guys working there are so sweet. There is a very limited space inside, just a few chairs and a counter, and seeing that we were a large group of 8, the guy who took care of our orders, asked if we wanted more chairs.
