We also called Chase and another major bank and BOTH timed us that they have no intention of eliminating their tellers. Don't waste your time if this locations won't give their time why gives yours to them.

In January 2025, I opened a dispute which they denied for a refund after I shipped a defective laptop back to the seller who defrauded me. Now they refuse to refund my money. Now I don't have a working laptop and have lost hundreds of dollars. And the most frustrating thing about it all is that the fraudster has my money that CCU refuses to chargeback. I opened the claim 10 days after I received the laptop and found it defective. CCU made me wait 5 months before denying the claim and saying it's been too long since the purchase of the laptop. Outright criminal behavior. And their customer service and managers constantly lie, saying they'll call me back and to just wait longer but the issue has not been resolved after 5 months. And they pretend to care and pretend they're doing something to help but they don't do anything! Not worth the 5% APY at all!

I have been a Gurnee resident for 27 years and have other banks also locally. PNC didn't bother to check me out or have a discussion. It just decided I was laundering money and closed my accounts without notice.. It didn't return my funds until after I complained to two government agencies about their business tactics. There are plenty of other banks. If you don't want to be treated like dirt, do not bank with PNC.

Didn't realize he left it until he was in another state for business. I walked in and inquired about the card and the teller said they had "captured it" but didn't offer to give it to me. I thought she had a real chip on her shoulder but then thought she just may be suspicious...BTW I'm on the acct and had my DL with me. I said "thank you" he will come get it. In a week after his trip he went to get the card and the same teller told him they had shredded it after 24 hours. What?!!! Been with the Wintrust network of banks for a few years now. I started in Chicago with Wintrust and…read morethen floated my accounts over to Palatine Bank & Trust. This isn't really the banks fault as much as it's a corporate issue / computer structure issue. Whenever I want to transact business inside I have to get Northshore Bank paperwork filled out. It adds on a minute or two of bureaucracy. I could open new and local accounts but it's a very hard task to do with direct deposit from the government. Changing government direct deposit is beyond a headache and beyond bureaucracy clogged. So I just keep using my accounts as extended network. The bankers at PB&T don't care. The PB&T bankers are some of the best people in the community. They are an always welcoming and friendly staff and always engage in the community, even if that engagement is something as simple as letting someone with anxieties about the COVID pandemic talk it out for a few minutes over the bureaucracy of a transaction. There's banks I've been to that have personnel who are cold, unwilling to talk and just want to get business done and shove the next person up to the window. There's banks that have gotten so impersonal that you walk in stick your card in a reader punch your PIN and then the "teller" gives you your money or deposits things. I won't mention the competitor name but they're a national big box bank and frankly I feel like ALL of the big box banks have gotten to a point of fully objectifying clients and treating them like nothing more than walking bags of money to transact with. PB&T some of the bankers recognize me when I walk in and greet me, other times I meet a new banker and make a new connection. But those connections only become stronger. PB&T is truly a bank that makes every effort to connect with clients, support them and overall be a friend to the client rather than just a bank. I can't say this about any other bank, historically Harris Bank pre merger had this kind of connection but since the merge they too have gone to big box bank psychology. There are few banks in the world that a person can comfortably say one of my friends happens to be my bank branch. This is one of them. I strongly recommend you move to PB&T if you are banking elsewhere. Not only is PB&T a truly client oriented bank but the entire Wintrust network puts the client first. I had an overdraft happen, I fixed it the same day and they didn't charge me a dime. I had an overdraft happen at my previous bank fixed it the same day and still got charged $45 AND got told I couldn't get a reversal done even though I fixed it the day of the overdraft. I could go on and on with reasons for you to bank with PB&T but I think the best way for you to see the bank in action is to drop in and see for yourself.

The Fifth Third branch in Wheeling used to have a change counting machine. Recently they had it…read moreremoved - the teller told me it was "too much trouble" but they would gladly accept the change I wanted to deposit if I wrapped the coins in rolls they provided. Today I went in and they informed me that they no longer accepted change deposits. The manager told me they were not equipped to handle large change deposits. I had 3 rolls of quarters, 2 rolls of dimes and one roll of nickels - less than $50.00 all together. The manager suggested I take the coins to the change machines at Jewel or Wal-Mart. When I pointed out they take at least a 10% fee off the top he just shrugged his shoulders. I worked in banking for most of my career. Customer Service at Fifth Third is non-existent. Needless to say I will be looking for a more customer friendly bank. There are banks on every corner - you would think they would bend over backwards to accommodate customers.

I emailed Melissa on December 14, 2025, asking about statement for November. Response from Melissa - "The statement will be cut off on the 19th of this month. If you need it before then you can come into the office and put up what we have." Me -"Then there should have been a statement issued for 11/19/25?" Melissa -"Yes you should of received it already. Did you want me to send you a copy of it again ?" Me-"Yes, please send. Did not receive and please make sure that the account is not marked as paperless causing the problem." Me today-"No statement for the Estate account for December yet. Please mail a copy and find out where the mailed statement is. No statement received the dates of 11/19 or the current 12/19." Ended up calling customer service, the account was marked "PAPERLESS"! Careless service and no follow through for the 5th3rd Wheeling bank.
