Where do I start. My mom was looking for a new vehicle and visited Fiesta Kia after seeing an advertisement for their 'anniversary' sale with a promotion for a stick shift Kia Soul for 9,900 or so. It was advertised CONSTANTLY on the radio, as well as in the Albuquerque journal. My mom was looking for an automatic version, and walked in and talked to a man named Daniel. She told him that she was not ready to make a buying decision until I was present, but took the vehicle out for a test drive and then asked for a price on an automatic version. They danced around the question and after her asking explicitly three times, they still refused to give her any idea of cost (mind you online, it is a $2K difference, so we were expecting in the realm of 12000-13000.) My mom called me and we set up a time the following day to visit and look at the vehicle.
I got out of work early and decided to stop by and see if I could get a price figure out of them. I walked and and asked for Daniel. He said hello, I explained I was the son of who he had talked to earlier, and he asked me if my mom would be joining me. I told him no, and he rudely said, "Why can't I get you two in the same place at the same time?!" I told him the next day we would both be in to make a purchase, and asked to use the restroom. I get out of the restroom to find Daniel on the phone. He had immediately called my mom and told her I was here, asking where she was. I already told him she wouldn't be joining. Ok, I'll let it slide.
We checked out the floor model, and I tried not to waste his time getting straight to my point when visiting the dealership, price. He said he's unable to give a price for a sale 'today' because the price would change by the next day. I told him we were ready to make a purchase and asked yet again for a price, he flat out told me, "Your mom said she would not come back in today, so I won't give you a price". I walked out, more than slightly furious.
Next day, my mom loves this car, so we suck it up and walk back in (this day was a Sunday and Pitre Kia was closed, otherwise we never would have never returned...) We ask for Daniel and his Boss/Mentor helps us (if I can find his name, I will post it). We get down to price, and he tells us that the advertised price was for ONE Kia Soul on the entire lot, and it was already gone, and FINALLY gives us a price for it, a mere $17,800. We pointed out that in none of the advertisements did it mention it was unique for ONE Soul on their entire lot. I ask him about their shady advertising and his response is, "I don't make the ads, sorry." Last straw, we walk out.
We ultimately end up at the Subaru dealership two blocks up the road, and my mom drives off in her dream car. Avoid Daniel, I think he is a nice guy being corrupted by the wrong dirty tactic dealership. His Boss/Mentor? The number one sleaziest sales man I have ever met. RUN! read more
