Fieldwork Brewing Company offers a casual dining experience in Center City Bishop Ranch with a self-service, QR-code ordering system. We started with the Crispy Cauliflower, coated with tempura batter and served with lemon aioli; Roasted Brussels Sprouts, topped with chili flakes & Parmesan and served in a cast iron skillet; and the Hummus, topped with Pepitas and served with thin, crispy parm'd pizza bread. The Chopped Kale Salad came with apple, radish, carrot, cotija, and Pepitas, all tossed in a tangy pomegranate vinaigrette; and the Chickpea Salad also had a base of kale topped with chickpeas, roasted sweet potato/carrot, and charred halloumi, and dressed with herbed pesto. The highlight of the menu was their creative pizzas, which you could order either on a thin, crispy Neapolitan crust, or on a thick, soft, square-shaped Detroit-style base with crispy baked cheese edges. The Fun Guy came with porcini cream, mushroom, onion, goat cheese, and pecorino; and the Hail Mary came with beer braised chicken, caramelized onion, cotija, garlic, and Calabrian chili oil, which gave the pizza a flavorful spicy kick. Overall, my favorite items were the Hummus with aromatic pizza bread; and the tantalizingly spicy Detroit-style Hail Mary, but everything was tasty and came at a good value and with quick service too! read more

Stopped here with some friends for a quick bite. The space was super nice, plenty of outdoor seating, which is great if you have a dog. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food and drinks were great! I tried the raspberry slush, and it was a bit foamy for me. I ended up having their hard lemonade after which I enjoyed alot more. My friends who are into beer liked their selection! They use a QR code for ordering which has pros and cons. I like that you can easily do separate tabs for a group order, and that you are able to order a drink as soon as you finish your first! They didn't have options to order sauces on the side, and I felt bad asking the staff to bring me small items that I was unable to order online. This is a brewing company located in San Ramon . Their think crust pizza , appetizer and salads are very delicious. We visited on a Sunday around 1 pm . To my surprise it was not too crowded. We were able to find a table and placed the order right the way . Fasting way to place order was on line and the waiter would bring you the food and drinks once they were ready . Parking is a challenge even with a lot of outdoor making and a parking garage . There were many restaurants and shops in this outdoor place . It was extremely crowded with a lot of cars . Restaurant has outdoor seatings and indoors with AC . Restrooms are available. You could get free ice water ( self served ) if you had kids or you didn't want to drink something with sugar . The food was excellent! Appetizer : deer fried cauliflower with dipping sauce. A kale salad , one thin crust pizza for the three of us . Many if their pizza are very delicious. Fieldwork is known for many beers on tap. As a pub, it has some great food. Today we had a small pizza with mushrooms and sausage. We typically like to add sliced, or diced, tomatoes to our pizzas once it is done. Unfortunately, "add tomatoes" isn't an option. The kale and apple salad with other goodies gave us a nicely flavored salad. To order, scan the QR code in the table. The servers come by to make certain all is good. Rename it to NeedsWork Brewing! This brewing company was a bit of an operational mess. They have a mix of indoor and outside seating and those silly barcodes where you order and pay right in the app. Leave it to Northern California Tech Country to ruin a brewery. Service was bad. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there and the waitress seemed annoyed that we ordered with her instead of on the app. She was going out of her way to avoid us and not take our order, not bring water, and not stop by to see if we needed anything. It was so bad I can't even give this place 3 stars for OK. They did have a nice selection of beers and I opted for their Belgian Wit which was served in a different glass than I expected. The beer was good and I was impressed with the variety. I never rate a brewery either way on the taste of the beer as that's not fair as tastes differ. But variety, glassware, temperature are all on the table and for beer, this was a winner. Foodwise, the wings seems like they were pre-baked, then reheated later. The skins weren't crispy at all. However, the Calabrian Chili Honey sauce was outstanding. If that sauce was on a properly cooked wing... that's at least worth a 2 star upgrade. The pizza was amazingly delicious! We opted for the cheese pizza over the Margherita and I was glad we did. The crust was awesome, and it had the perfect amount of toppings. We didn't think we'd finish it but it was so good and light, we did! They DID have the cup and char pepperoni but I wasn't in the mood for the grease on this particular day. I'd go back for that. Best place to hangout at City Center. Our Unofficial Run Club's favorite hangout place is here. We just had our club's One Year Anniversary celebration here at Fieldworks. Staff are great. All are super friendly and accommodating. You can make reservations over the phone or online booking. Each long table sits 8 people and I was able to book 2 table for 16 ppl max. They have a private room at the back u can book for parties but u have to pay a fee, or its first come first serve. If you've never been here, you're definitely missing out. Haven't been here in a hot minute! Was feeling nostalgic for some pizza and beer (had to have nonalcoholic since I'm pregnant but it was just as good!!). Warning: the black diamond pizza is spicy! I didn't read that thoroughly before ordering so had to pick the peppers off before eating. But it was so good!! I have to say since I'd last been there the pizza did feel a little more cold and mushy?! Still good but I remember it being a hotter pan and less mushy bottom. Maybe they were too busy. Great brewery located in the Bishop Ranch City Center! It's is a solid spot to hang out, grab a drink, and relax. The beers were good across the board and there was a nice variety to choose from. I first came here with my company on an event and I always thought that it is a place that sells beer only but I was wrong. They had very good pizza and snacks. I brought my daughter here for the pizza and wings, and she loves it! You sit anywhere you like and order your food by scanning the QR code on the table. Always my go to place for beer and pizza. Located at the corner of the City Center. You can easily park in the garage and walk downstairs to Fieldwork. You're also able to easily make a reservation for either inside our outside seating. The outside seating does have a few umbrellas for shade, but not all seats may be shaded during peak afternoon. Ordering is very easy as well with the QR code at each table. There is small bar seating as well right in front of a large flat screen tv that occasionally shows sports (follow their Instagram to see when they may be showing 49ers or Warriors games). The inside seating also has 4 large benches, but those are communal and first come first serve. Pizzas are great for being from a mostly beer restaurant, and they also have smaller side dishes like Brussels sprouts and French fries. They also typically have a large rotation of beers, which you can also see on their website to see what they have. I typically get their lagers, west coast IPAs, or the hazy IPAs. If you're ever unsure of which beer to get, you can always get the tasters. read more

The service here was essentially non-existent. The entire experience felt more like interacting with a vending machine than a restaurant. You are expected to scan a QR code on your phone to order and pay, and while the food was eventually delivered to the table, that was the beginning and end of the human interaction. Throughout our entire meal: -We were never asked how the food was or if everything tasted okay. -No one checked in to see if anything was missing from our order. -We were never offered water or asked if we wanted refills. While the digital ordering system is efficient, it shouldn't replace basic hospitality. If you're looking for a place where you feel looked after as a guest, this isn't it. Pretty good! I enjoyed this venue for a company off-site. The food items are super tasty and the staff are incredibly kind/attentive. My only complaint is an incredibly trivial one: there's not a lot of non-alcoholic options -- some soft drinks and a few "mocktails". I tried the passion-fruit mocktail and it was OK but not necessarily amazing. To be fair though, I don't think it's realistic to expect a lot of non-alcoholic options from a brewery so I don't really hold it against them. I would definitely come back if in the area. On Tuesday (4/29) the company I work for had a event here at Fieldwork Brewing. We had a large group and I must say 5 stars to all the staff who helped us with drink orders and getting food out to us quickly. Large groups can be overwhelming, but this crew is top notch and gave us tremendous customer service. How is food and beer? All top notch. I am not a beer drinker, but I had the Hills & Valley's and I would definitely get it again. I love a thin crust pizza and both slices I had tasted great. I like they have different sizes of beer - taster, full etc. so you can try multiple. Options are endless and they keep experimenting with flavors. The flight option was sold out. You scan the barcode at the table and put in your order (you can pick between individual or group). The food was good too. We got the Oktoberfest pretzel and bratzza pizza. Both were delicious and my favorite was dad's joke pizza- Sweet and spicy! Delicious food, delicious drinks, nice ambience. What more could you ask for? I came for a corporate event, there were a couple dozen of us and the venue had reserved us a table outside to enjoy the nice, sunny weather. They have QR codes at the table for you to put in your orders and as people were arriving, they were ordering their food and drink items in real time and the staff were bringing out the items only a couple of minutes later. I got the universal chaos IPA which was a nice, juicy hazy. We ordered an assortment of different food items and everything we had was great. I really liked their deep dish style pizza - they were cut into big squares and two slices of these were enough to be a full dinner for me. The pretzel here is warm and perfectly salted and is paired with mustard on the side. The french fry order doesn't contain a lot of fries but the fries are cooked well and not greasy. There is an attached parking lot to the strip mall but it's on the other side of where Field work is so there is a short walk involved. read more

Fieldwork is seriously blowing up, maybe 7 or so now in the Bay and a few others like in Sacramento and Monterey. And just 7-8 years ago, they only had their original in Berkeley. Always been a fan of products (beers) just not so much a fan of the way they operate. I will start by saying their beers are top notch. Always fresh and very good recipes and execution. Very hop oriented beers tho, tons of IPAs and heavier gravity beers. They do sport a more balanced menu currently as they are more wide spread, so lighter beer drinkers have more options now. The thing for me is that they make so many different variations, that I don't think they try and make the same beers over and over, so people can attach to something they like. Put it this way, I can't name a beer by name here, as almost every time I've been in a Fieldwork, the names are always different. But they describe their beers well so if you know what you like, then you usually can find something to your liking. On this trip I tried a hoppy Pilsner and a Hazy IPA, both top notch. If I lived closer I would make more of an effort in actually getting familiar with their offerings. Pepperoni Pizza but we added mushrooms ($25ish/5*) We didn't see it on the menu but when we ordered this, they asked us if we wanted the Neapolitan style or the Detroit style. We went with the thinner crust Neapolitan for the first and were not disappointed. Straight up awesome pizza, thin crisp crust, not a traditional Neapolitan as this seemed more sturdy, more crisp, which I actually prefer. Then the sauce to cheese flavor was perfect, a bit tangy and totally melded as one. If I lived nearby I'd get one of these weekly. Probably in my top 3 pizzas I've had out here in the Bay Area. Only 1 size, so kinda like a small for pizza parlor sizing. So 3 of us got about 3 small slices each. The crust is thin enough that I could probably eat a whole pizza here, so mid $20s for a pizza here is a little high for pizza standards as most chains a medium would be in the mid $20s. But this one is worth it IMO as it is special enough. Since we only got 3 small slices each, we order another pizza, but this time we wanted to try their Detroit style. Same type of Pepperoni and Mushroom as the first one hit so good. Upon arrival this pizza was already more of a letdown, as even though thicker dough, the whole personal pizza was cut into 4. So we each got 1 slice each with 2 of us spliting the final piece...for $25ish. Just not as satisfying. Then on top of the poor perceived value, this one wasn't executed at the same level as the thinner crust pizza. I looked at the bottom of crust after tasting something off with my first few bites, and sure enough the bottom of the crust was way too dark, like burnt toast. We just scraped some of it off as we didn't want to wait for another one, and it wasn't totally acrid, just a noticeable overly toasty notes. So I would rate this Detroit style 2 stars, so if we would have only got that first pizza, then this easily would have been a 5 star review. But the beers here are still solid, and the place is super modern and airy, with lots of outdoor seating, that it would be hard to stay away. Lots of eating options in this modern foodie mall, so may be an appetizer of pizza and beer here then move on to something else. A little bummed but still like the gist of this place. read more

Great selection of brews with decent pizza and gastropub options. Perfect for catching up with friends/family, and some decent space for kids to run around without bothering too many people. They're nice enough to bring crayons and doodling paper. Parking is plentiful in the City Center lot. Pizzas are super tasty and great to share. So it might seem random to review only the food at a place known for its beer. But hear me out... I had the Chopped Kale salad tonight and this salad is amazing. Apples. Carrots. Radish. Cotija cheese. And a pomegranate dressing that is *chef's kiss* I also want to say I love the fact they have 100% non-alcoholic beverages that are great for kids. Their root beer and Ginger ale are made in house and are delicious. I am also a fan of their NA beer offerings. The NA Pils is legit. Really wanted to love fieldwork based on all of the reviews but sadly we were unimpressed. We stopped by on a really busy day so there wasn't anything inside but we didn't mind sitting outside. The service was fast and all the people who worked there were really friendly. The beer and cider options were great and there really is something for everyone and that includes folks like me who usually don't drink beer. Our issue was more around the food. The pizza we ordered had absolutely no flavor. Like Weirdly no flavor. Pizza looks appetizing in the photo but when we took a bite all we could taste was the bread. No seasoning. The sauce had barely any flavor. Just a bunch of grease and bread. The fries were not hot and may have possibly been sitting for some time. We just did not enjoy our food at all. I've been to several Fieldwork Brewing Company locations and am usually a big fan--especially Berkeley, where the service is friendly and on point. Unfortunately, this San Ramon location continues to disappoint. On my most recent visit, I ordered a single non-alcoholic canned beer through the QR code system at the table. After 20 minutes, nothing had arrived. I double-checked the Toast ordering system and confirmed the order had gone through--tip already included, of course, since you're required to enter it upfront. From there, it went downhill. Multiple staff members walked by, clearing tables but not once checking in or offering help. I tried to get someone's attention several times and was essentially ignored. Eventually, the person who originally seated me noticed I was trying to make eye contact and came over. He went inside, grabbed the beer, and casually said, "Oh, they just poured it." That explanation didn't match the situation at all--and frankly, it felt like no one was paying attention to orders or customer experience. Yes, it was busy--but there were plenty of employees working. The issue isn't staffing, it's management and accountability. There seems to be no coordination or urgency here. This location is by far the worst of the Fieldwork spots I've visited. If you're expecting the same level of service as Berkeley or other locations, you'll likely be disappointed.
