BE WARY OF FIDELITY! I have an account with Fidelity. Days ago, I sent them 25,000 via EFT from my bank. They acknowledge receiving $25,000 but didn't make it available for trading, so I called them. They said they were experiencing a higher than normal rate of fraud, therefore they were taking 16 business days to verify EFTs, and until it was verified they wouldn't let you do any transactions with it. I am losing money, because my bank pays me good interest on my cash. If I had known that they were going to be so inept, I would have either gone with a different investment company, or sent them a wire transfer rather than an EFT. The first customer service person I spoke with was extremely rude, blaming me for making the deposit, claiming there was a warning online about a 16 day hold. However, the warning only said it might take a little while longer (what sounds like two or three days) to do the transaction. They DID NOT STATE it would take 16 business days. I called customer service two more times and they wouldn't make an exception. This is a STRANGE CUSTOMER UNFRIENDLY corporation that abuses its customers. I would not recommend that you open any accounts with Fidelity. They should consider changing their name to INFIDELITY. read more

Fidelity runs the benefits for one of my mother's pension payments. I have been trying for two years to get access to handle my mother's account as she had a stroke and is incapacitated (can't speak/paralyzed). On my first phone call (got number from monthly statement), they wouldn't even tell me what company the benefit was coming from. They just informed me that they couldn't help me and I would need to call my mother's company. This was many years ago and my mother never told me what company was paying her pension. After a couple of more calls, I finally got someone to tell me what company to call - the guy whispered it into the phone. I called the company and they gave me the number to call Fidelity back, along with my mother's information. I was given an address and told what information was needed (SS#, DOB for myself and my mother, and a copy of the POA). I was told it would take 4 weeks to get the POA approved. I called back 4 weeks later and they said they show nothing in the system. I told them the address that was given to me and they advised that it was the wrong address that I was given - wrong PO and zip code. Being that they provided the other address, I asked where the first package would have went. They told me to contact the post office. I asked if I could email or fax the documents to them. They said no. I advised that Yum Brands (Pepsi) allowed me to do this and had all of the changes done in one week. They said there was nothing they could do. Just to resend it and wait a month to see if it gets processed or received. This company knows absolutely nothing about customer service and other than one individual who let me know what company was paying my mom's pension, probably at the risk of losing his job, all other individuals have been short with me and rude, even after providing all pertinent information about my mother to prove that I wasn't scamming them. The result is me having to file an extension on her tax returns until they release 1099 tax documents, since my mother's address is no longer valid and they send out "do not forward" documents. read more

Their phone banks are Well Under Staffed. I have been on the phone holding for going over 35 minutes. They are happy to take our money, but when you need a Human to talk to it's a rare find. read more

This company is a SCAM. They have locked my account for 6 months, I have submitted all paper work they requested of me and they still have my account locked. They know I am stationed overseas on a military base but now they are saying they cant unlock my account unless I send them a utility bill. Even after sending them my military orders stating that I am overseas and have been for years they refuse to unlock my account and I have money in there that I am unable to retrieve. read more

HAD a good working relationship with this company for years. Then, the economy tanked. Lost several thousand dollars from my 401 & IRA. Seems they laid-off a lot of good people, too. Called earlier to liquidate some funds and the woman i spoke with was fine. Professional and seemingly competent. She said she would put the specifics of my transaction in the 'notes' section of my account, and to call back (after 4), to get the final check amount. okay. Later, after taking the first guy (NO joke!) 10-minutes to get 'an associate on the line' to assist...turns out the guy i was now speaking with had NO notes...and thus, no idea what the woman had specified earlier. i was screwed...and had to practically start over. What should have been a 10-minute call wasted over 20-minutes. Finally just decided to close my account. read more

I have a cash account and have requested help to invest for many months Gaining no interest as these clowns have my money. 3 times have waited 1 hour each call with no one ever answered. 30 minute wait just to chat with a human who had no way to help. Had a wonderful experience over the phone with a retirement specialist named Craig Stevens about how to roll over my old 401k to an IRA. Having been removed from the work force for several months, he told me the pros and cons about what my options were and what to do. He was extremely helpful and stayed on the line while walking me through my roll-over stuff. I wished we all got good customer service like this all the time, it would make life a bit simpler! read more

I've had several accounts (checking, brokerage, IRA) open with this company for many years. In the past year, I've noted a definite decline in service at Fidelity. Example: They're not even able to provide envelopes to me for deposits money into their checking account. Subsequently, I've made the decision to terminate all business with this firm. I've noted they charged me $50 to transfer my Roth IRA to another brokerage. No good reason offered by Fidelity for that ridiculous fee. Just another example of the nickel/dime attitude now at Fidelity. I don't recommend allowing this company to manage your money. read more

When I lost my husband of 50 years, I contacted Fidelity Investments to notify them of his death as they were in charge of his pension and my survivor pension benefits. I notified them Nov. 5 of his passing and was advised that I would be mailed a packet of information to fill out and return to them. I was advised that I was entitled to survivor benefits and that I would have them direct deposited into the same account my husband's pension was deposited into and the benefits would be deposited on the 1st of the month as his were. After many calls to them, I was advised that the information was mailed to me and they did not know why it was taking the postal service so long to deliver it. After 3 weeks, I received the packet, filled out the necessary information and submitted the necessary documents and took it directly to the post office so it would go out the same day. While I was told the paperwork was processed on the 25th a week was not enough time for them to deposit the funds into my account and I my funds would be scheduled to be deposited into my account on the 14th instead of the 1st. Because many of my bills were automatic payments, their withholding my payment for an extra two weeks caused me bank fees and late fees for bills that could not be paid. They were able to cancel my husband's pension payment by the 1st but were unable to process my payment by the 1st. I think 6 weeks for them to take to process a payment someone is entitled to is an excessive amount of time and they either need more employees or employees who are capable of doing their job in a timely manner instead of costing a widow many unnecessary fees and making it impossible to get out of a bind they caused. read more

The CEO Abigail Johnson decided that she would allow her company to just lockout people from thier accounts without speaking to them 1st. I spoke with Andrew Franklin from the Convington KY office and Dustin Tolman out of Salt Lake UT and Danny Joiner who would not give me his location and none of them seem to care that my account was closed the day before Thanksgiving and left my family with no food on Thanksgiving.. I accessed my account from my Job computer and they assumed that someone else had my account information.. Not once did they call me to verify if it was fraud activity or was it just me that could not remember my account number trying to access it.. My other banks have the courtesy to at least call and ask.. This company is uncaring and rude. I will never in life deal with them again.... U better ran of you do before its to late. read more

I recently received a letter from IRS saying that I did not report 401K distribution in 2014 and wanted me to pay penalty and interests etc. It turned out that they sent to the wrong address and I never got neither the check nor the 1099R. I told IRS this and it asked me to get a verification letter from them, Fidelity refused because they said they followed the instruction and the address provided by the company. But the money they reported was under their possession all the time to June 2016, they never bother to contact the recipient and refuse to admit it. The support was unable to do anything and they told me they got letter from IRS too but cannot not respond. What kind of Financial services is this? They leave me in the limbo don't even want to provide a verification letter to IRS to tell them the truth. A simple address error should not that difficult to clarify. All I needed from them is to tell IRS that I did not have the income indicated on the 2014 1099R because I didn't get it. But they were so worked up on defending themselves for what they have done in 2014. After I made 6 phone calls, finally the guy I spoke to in Fidelity was able to help me to access their payment records of the 401K distributions online which clearly indicated the check they sent in 2014 was STOPPED. I had a job as support myself, really do not want to be mean to the support people, they are just doing their jobs; but the Plan Administrator should have follow up when there were outstanding checks. If weren't IRS, I would not even know I have that money. I have spent more than 10 hours on phone calls to Fidelity and IRS regarding to this matter since April 2016. Incompetent beyond reason, screwed up withdrawal from my account withholding tax, when I asked for option not to withhold it. Didn't offer any solution to fix their error without me incurring expenses and didn't admit it, they said they would investigate and would call next week... lame, zecco trading is a better option. read more
