Fiddletree is absolutely gorgeous! There is an outdoor eating area that will be lovely in the warm months. The indoor bar is large with comfy bar stools and large coaches with tables. The restaurant is located inside the Elwood hotel but it is unlike the proverbial hotel restaurant. The food was well prepared and excellent. The chicken piccata was moist and lemony. The stir fry was flavorful and hearty. Per the server's recommendation, I added blackened shrimp. The shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection. I also had the blackberry lemonade which was delish. My husband had the mule mocktail, I was not a fan; it tasted just like ginger beer. We ended our meal with key lime pie, which was light and flavorful, not dense like some key lime pies. The service was good, attentive but not annoying. Oh, the bathrooms are beautiful and spotless. There are 2: male, female and unisex with physically challenged combined. Fiddletree has became a regular for me & my loved ones. From the wonderful restaurant manager to the various service staff we've encountered, we've never had a bad experience. We held my granddaughter's 4th birthday party here. I've had group meals (brunch, lunch, & dinner). I've had intimate meals with my husband & daughter. Just overall enjoyable experiences! Food options are consistent. Cocktails are delicious. A fave is the Barbie Sundowner. Love their coffee with cute pink dishes. Indoor and outdoor seating options are wonderful. Instagram worthy restaurant with great bar service and delicious light bites! My husband and I stayed at the Elwood for a weekend getaway and decided to pop down to the bar during happy hour! We were pleasantly surprised with the happy hour pricing and decided to indulge in a few drinks and light bites for $5 a piece! The chicken bites and fries were fresh and crispy and the deviled eggs were gourmet, perfectly smokey with an amazing bacon jam on top. Oh my goodness! Get yourself here!! My friends and I went to brunch yesterday and not only is the food absolutely phenomenal, Alaina our server was a pro who knew all the ins and outs of the menu! We had the deviled eggs with bacon jam, the fried green tomato sliders (the basil in there with the bacon is a stroke of genius!), chicken and waffles where the waffles had such a gorgeous sugar coating, the house salad with champagne dressing, and the best pancakes I have ever had. We had two in our group we normally don't go for a pancake - and we both would have had more. For dinner, there was a fella playing acoustic guitar singing that set up a great vibe. I got the Caesar salad with salmon and my boyfriend got the stir fry with salmon. Both of these were delish! When you walk in, you're immediately greeted by welcoming hosts, with a fully stocked bar to your right. Our server was attentive and friendly making for a good experience. It was a Saturday night and surprisingly the restaurant was fairly empty. We ordered appetizers, drinks, and entrees of course. All were delivered quickly. The food was good, don't get me wrong, but I do think the presentation and overall quality could be better, especially for the price point as this is a more fine dining experience. It was just a room right inside the entrance of the hotel. I ordered the fried green tomato sliders and they lacked flavor for the price. I pretty much tasted the breading and the bread. We came for brunch on a Saturday. It was surprisingly not that busy, however the staff was a bit slow overall still. In fact, the table next to us got seated and we're not served or checked on for about 15 minutes (even to get their drink order), so they decided to get up and leave. Luckily, we did not have this issue, but we did barely see our server the entire time. We came with a group, so we were very busy all chatting and catching up. However, we could have all used refills on our drink but the server was nowhere to be found. The food service was also quite slow, and the eggs Benedict was dry with almost no hollandaise sauce on the top. I have been here other times, and had a great experience so I don't want to take too many stars off, this was certainly one occasion, which was on like the others. I can't really tell you about the food because we were never greeted or served. I fully expected for things to be chaotic anywhere we went because it was Mother's Day. We didn't make a reservation because OpenTable showed full availability. When we arrived the hostess acted surprised we didn't have a reservation and said she would "see what she could do." The restaurant was about 25% full. We were sat at one of the many open tables and no one ever came to our table. After abt 15 minutes what I guess was a manager came into the room and just looked out the window? I made eye contact and he asked had anyone waited on us. I said no and he said he would "check on that." A waitress dropped off food for a family in the same room, went to get extra syrup and confirmed they were settled and walked out. We decided at that point to leave. It had been 25 minutes. On the way out the hostess and the manager guy were sitting behind the hostess desk. I told them we were leaving because no one had even greeted us. He just said "I'm so sorry abt that." He didn't get up or make a move to rectify anything. It was so strange. Do they not want customers? I saw several servers walking around outside our room so I don't think it was an understaffing issue. I got the feeling that us leaving was the goal. Anyway. We went to Lunas and had a lovely Mother's Day Brunch and I'll tell everyone to avoid this weird place. It's so pretty, it's a shame it's ran horribly. What a cute little spot! We found this place through Yelp when our brunch reservation cancelled. It's in a cute boutique style hotel. Actually when we went there was a bridal shower going on which I thought was a perfect spot with the adorable inside with pink couches, is the perfect set up. We sat outside, our waitress was great and attentive. What I loved is all the amazing mock tails! As a preggo lady craving a espressotini and they had it as a mocktail made my day! I cannot write enough negative reviews for this awful, insensitive, & disorganized business owner. I am a business owner myself & would never go out of my way to write a negative review, but genuinely I've never had a more awful experience with a business. Do not spend your money here or have an event here unless you're ready for an extremely unprofessional and stressful event. I had a welcome party here last week for my wedding. The most stressful party of the entire wedding planning process for me because of poor ownership, lack of communication, and the way they treated me & my husband. 1. I booked the venue in April for $2500.00 food & beverage minimum for 2 hours on a Friday Night. I asked for drink prices & the manager told me it was being worked on & they were going to try to get my drinks as "close to their cost" as possible given the amount of guests I had & to add the welcome party to the RSVP for my 250 guests so they can get a number/ drink cost. 2. I got a call from a new manager less than 4 weeks before my event (2 days before my RSVPs- that was requested by the old manager were due). She said they didn't have my reservation on file & asked what I was quoted for my event. 3. My husband and I later went to the space to meet with the new manager who said the drink menu was still (4 months later) being worked on. We placed nearly over the original minimum in food & knew we were going to exceed our minimum spend with drinks. 4. We got the quote with a message saying that for 2 hours they typically rent the restaurant for $16,000.00. I fought to honor the original quote which they did- but given that they were "giving us such a discount" they had to charge $6.00 per Seltzer & $4.50 per Beer (we ordered 600 cans total & 10 bottles of wine + a full cash bar for liquor). 5. Fast forward, a week before my event- 24 hours post receiving my quote, I called the owner to discuss the discrepancies from my emails with the previous manager & my budget- I was lectured that they were losing money on our event, that the owner knew she quoted the wrong amount & waited until 7 days before my event to tell me this, and that she would give me only a 10% discount after being yelled at on the phone & forwarding all email communication. We would have canceled if we didn't have such a large amount of people to coordinate. 6. My husband & I were getting back from our wedding rehearsal with our families & we're running about 10 minutes behind the start of the party. We get a call that they can't serve until there is a card on file so our guests arrived and couldn't eat or drink - we had to rush over when they could have easily told us to bring a card earlier in the day/ week or send a CC authorization form. 7. They told me this entire time that they had a musician - I asked for weeks who that musician was. Calling, texting, emailing- the manager was great but the owner wouldn't give her an answer. Finally on the day of the event I called and said since we don't know who the musician is (that can really set the tone of the event)- can we just cancel the music & we will bring our own boom box & microphone as I hired my videographer & photographer to record planned toasts & speeches from our guests. They told me they could not cancel the musician but we could have them leave if they didn't fit the vibe & that we could use their microphone & boom box for speeches. We ended up liking the music & they were accommodating when we wanted to give toasts until about 8pm. (The party was from 7:30 - 9:30). At 8:30 my best friend & husbands friend wanted to give toasts & the musician said they were leaving & taking their microphones because "no one could hear them". When I approached the owner Hilda, she told me they were stopping playing at 9pm (30 min before my party ended) & they could pack up. 8. Lastly, we paid for a private event (as in we rented the restaurant) & they made all our guests put on wristbands which held up the line to get in (it was nearly 100 degrees in Lexington that night). It turns out they did that because they didn't actually close it to just our guests- there were plenty of hotel guests also at the bar & eating our food. Not worth the original $2,500.00 more or less $16,000.00 for TWO hours. My wedding was less expensive than that for 12 hours. read more

We stayed one night at the Elwood and dined at their restaurant for lunch before leaving. Everything about this place is exceptional. The ambiance is modern elegance without being pretentious. The service was impeccable and accommodating. The food! The deviled eggs appetizer to die for, the salads & sandwiches had us drooling. We will most definitely be back to try more of the menu. When you have brunch reservations at 12:30, one would expect to be served in a timely manner. Unfortunately it's took 30 min to get our drinks ordered, another 30 min to actually get our drinks. It took another hour to get our food served. Total time waiting for food was 2 hours, at 2:15 to be exact, which now isn't brunch anymore.. so unbelievable. Now if it were busy maybe we could have understood, but it was not busy. There was no management in sight either. Food quality was good but definitely not worth a 2 + hour wait. Nothing "special". We were all very disappointed. Several people in our party had to leave before their food even came out. No one expected to be there past 1.5 hr. I have driven by the building on my way out of downtown and wondered what was inside. We decided to call for reservations and try it. The restaurant was beautiful inside and the food was really good. It was a little pricey for some of the main dishes, but the quality of what we ordered made it seem worth it. We had two burgers and the shrimp and grits. All were very good. The restaurant is inside of a boutique hotel, and the building has a super cute mural on the outside of it, so I had high expectations for the design of the interior and I was not disappointed. I was here on a Tuesday for lunch with my boss and the place was empty, so it must do more business on the weekends based on other reviews. The staff was friendly and explained everything well. Our waitress even talked us into getting cheesecake to go for dessert (which we had not intended to do) by telling us that they had a staff contest to see who could make the best dessert and this one was the winner. That was enough to make me want to try it! The food was good, not amazing, but very good. I had a sandwich called the Vegetarian with fries and my boss had the chicken walnut salad sandwich. By far the best thing we had, though, was the broccoli cheddar soup. It was amazing! My biggest complaint is the cost. My sandwich and fries was $14 for lunch, and it was a little on the small side (though the portion of fries was huge). The soup was $7.50 per cup. It was $80 after tip for two people (and yes, I know we ordered a lot of food, but still...it just seemed a little pricey for what you got). This is a really neat/cute place! It's in a boutique hotel outside of the downtown area. Instead of the usual restaurant furniture they used big pieces, velvet, color! The restaurant was in the lobby, so you had people coming in to check-in their room or to dine. I will say it was a bit overpriced for what it was, but the food was good. I got the pretzel bites with beer cheese and mustard (YUM) and their burger with fries. Burger was cooked a bit longer than I liked, but it still had great flavor with its condiments.
