This company scams people. I have a friend who was working on setting up their Amazon Echo/Alexa…read moreand, unfortunately, ended up getting in contact with them instead of the official Amazon Alexa support team. They installed two "remote desktop apps" onto his computer (not sure why they needed two) and used those to take control and download the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (which is already made available to everyone, for free by Microsoft, and is easy to use). They declared that, due to his use of an adult website, his computer had a virus and a network vulnerability from a Russian source (this is probably what they tell everybody- their script). Nothing was ever done to help him set up his Amazon Echo. To this day it sits in the box. This experience was so bad that he doesn't want to use it anymore. For this meager service (which anyone could have done for free) they charged him $515, up from $300-something because they found out he was a senior and could charge him more money that way, somehow. Here are additional reasons for their illegitimacy: - They have no website/social media. - They are not where they claim to be (Maryland, USA). The invoice listed a phone number with an Indian country code, in the New Delhi area. - They used PayPal to process his payment, and subsequently PayPal barred my friend from ever using PayPal again because he had dealt with these scammers. - They have no proprietary software and the "solutions" used to "help" my friend were rudimentary. I doubt they have any expertise in actual computer software. Downloading free software from the internet to scam people doesn't count. - They target the elderly by charging them $200+ more. Fortunately my friend called me after his interaction with this company, and I advised him to call his credit card company to get the charge reversed. I also went over to his house and went through his computer to make sure that they did not do anything malicious. Thankfully, nothing besides those three programs (the two remote desktop apps and the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool) was installed. I removed all three. They are incredibly good scammers. They are convincing and friendly over the phone, but don't let that fool you- they are not computer professionals and only want your money.
