After vetting several companies I landed on Maui Built Homes. I knew, from experience, that when you hire a builder you are really hiring people, and after just a few days into the project I already knew that I'd hired the right group. Everyone involved was professional and a pleasure to work with - Brett (the owner), John (the Project Manager and a "Make things happen" kind of a guy), Tom (the Leader Carpenter and quintessential perfectionist), Cody (the Assistant Carpenter and up and coming "Tom"), and Daniel (the Assistant Carpenter) were impressive. On top of all that, their vendors (roofing, plumbing, electrical, solar, etc.) are all of the highest quality too. We worked well together and became family - They are that kind of company. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. Thanks Maui Built Homes for our beautiful home!

Our partial remodel turned into a total home remodel including leveling floors and vaulting the ceilings.  Michael was flexible and open throughout the process and willing to incorporate all of our changes as the remodel progressed.  We are very thankful for his attention to detail, his practical suggestions to design and providing top notch quality work.  Michael has a great team.  We were very happy with his choice of electrician (Eric), plumber (Chris) and painter (Edgar), who were all very flexible, professional, and reliable.  All subcontractors were highly experienced and we felt confident their work would pass all inspections and exceeded our standards.  We are also very happy with his team who worked at the house every day.  They not only did an amazing job but were also very respectful to us as the homeowners.  The care they showed was as if they were working on their own home.  We were equally confident and impressed with all of Jake's skills including tile work, framing, deck work and all of the finishing touches inside the house. Remodeling can be both a stressful and an expensive experience.  Michael helped lessen any stress by being available by phone, text or email and responding the same day or by the next day.  His knowledge of product and project costs guided us in all of our design decisions also reducing the stress of the cost of the remodel.  We have since moved into our "Dream Home" and are completely in love with every detail of our "New Home."  Hand's down.  We highly recommend Michael and his team at MF Construction Inc. for your remodel needs.

They were much more reasonably-priced than other contractors--who we couldn't afford at all--so we were wary about the old saying, "You get what you pay for" when we first hired them. Much to our relief, contractor/owner Mike and his crew delivered. They've always been very professional and efficient and they cleaned up after they were done. Mike's friendly and laid-back demeanor belies the fact that he is very organized and is juggling a million details all at once, stretched over multiple different job sites. He got the job done when he said it would be done, in the manner he said it would be. MF Construction is now our go-to contractor on Maui if/when the need arises. We would definitely hire them again.

Aloha - My roof was showing its age at 28 years old, and I decided I needed a new roof before major…read moreproblems set in that could cost me a fortune to fix. I'm a senior at 80 with a limited budget--living on Social Security and a small amount of savings--so I had to be very careful about choosing the right roofer. I called several companies for bids and was shocked at the prices. The highest was over $28,000 for a full tear-off and replacement. That was far beyond what I could afford to replace my roof. In my research I learned that Hawaii allows up to three layers of roofing, which meant I could add a second layer and avoid the costly tear-down. Unfortunately, many of the larger companies wouldn't even consider this 2nd layer option, so I kept searching. That's when I found Dave Bushnell with Right On Roofing. Dave is a small business owner who handles the roofing work himself, without the big overhead costs of truck fleets and crews to worry about. Dave understood my situation and agreed to install the second layer of roofing at a price I could manage. That included me paying for the materials directly so there was no extra profit mark up on materials like the big boys do. That was really great and saved me even more. After discussing my situation and my limited senior budget...Dave agreed to add the 2nd layer roofing for me at a very affordable price. Hiring Dave turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. Dave did a really great job and showed up on time every day, put in 10-hour days, and worked steadily until the new roof was done. He didn't cut corners, cleaned up thoroughly, and kept me informed throughout the process. I was extremely impressed with Dave's work effort and the quality of work he did. The new roof now looks beautiful, and I have peace of mind knowing my new roof is solid and well-done for many years to come. Dave is professional, honest, and takes pride in his work--qualities that are hard to find these days. I primarily worked with Jeff Dreschel, one of Zuma's owners. I have never had a better experience with a contractor. Jeff came in on budget and completed the project on time. If you have ever worked with a contractor, you know that contractors never come in on budget or on time. I cannot give Jeff and his team at Zuma enough praise. My condo was completely gutted and every aspect of the remodel was perfect. Jeff recommended a cabinet maker that made beautiful cabinets. I installed Versailles porcelain tile throughout the unit which was perfectly completed. One other aspect of Jeff is that he has a great design sense. We left it to him to choose the granite, paint color, doors and hardware, and every choice he made was perfect. Again, most contractors have no design sense, but Jeff is the exception. Finally, I should mention that Jeff pays attention to detail and informed us on practically a daily basis the status of the remodel. In summary, if you need a contractor, you would be making a mistake by not using Zuma Development.
