After vetting several companies I landed on Maui Built Homes. I knew, from experience, that when you hire a builder you are really hiring people, and after just a few days into the project I already knew that I'd hired the right group. Everyone involved was professional and a pleasure to work with - Brett (the owner), John (the Project Manager and a "Make things happen" kind of a guy), Tom (the Leader Carpenter and quintessential perfectionist), Cody (the Assistant Carpenter and up and coming "Tom"), and Daniel (the Assistant Carpenter) were impressive. On top of all that, their vendors (roofing, plumbing, electrical, solar, etc.) are all of the highest quality too. We worked well together and became family - They are that kind of company. I wouldn't recommend anyone else. Thanks Maui Built Homes for our beautiful home!

In the middle of the job, he said he'd have to come back to finish it on another day, even though he had told me it would be a one day repair. On the day he was supposed to finish it, he texted to cancel so we rescheduled. When he came back the following week to finish the job, he tried to charge me double and explained that he had a minimum charge per visit. I reminded him that it was HIS decision to come back on a second day and he never mentioned he was going to charge me for a 2nd visit. If he had been transparent about that, I would have asked him to finish it on the first day since that's what he quoted me for the repair. He ended up going back to his original quote, but he acted annoyed as if I was haggling with him. Super unprofessional and dishonest, and I would never recommend him to anyone.

His fees were reasonable and he was able to source (or create) all the items needed to complete these repairs. Spencer knows carpentry, and has done whole house remodeling as well as the type of repair projects he did for us. We would (and will!) certainly hire him again. Best way to reach him is by calling or texting his cell phone: 808-269-5426. He will do projects on houses Upcountry, Central, Kihei, Waiiea-Makena, Lahaina.
