I have yet to find a place that is reliable and upfront with their prices, and was pleased when Twins was able to give me at least an ESTIMATE of the cost prior to showing up with the dress. I know hems on dresses like this are time consuming and I have no problem paying whatever it costs, but the lack of transparency is always problematic for me. They did a wonderful job with the dress - it looks great and cost $95 for a hem (this was a lot of fabric and two layered, FWIW) and a shoulder strap adjustment. I am happy with the results and the dress was ready in a week! I will be back for future alteration needs. I was seen immediately when I walked in despite it being mid-day on a Saturday. The tailor clearly knew what he was doing and was able to suggest solutions to help fix all of the issues I was worried about. I was very impressed by how quickly and expertly he made the necessary pins, marks, and suggestions. When I picked up the dress they had me try it to see whether more modifications were needed. The dress fit very well and really only needed about an inch or so hemmed at the bottom to keep it from dragging on the floor. The staff made a big deal about, well the tailor is very busy, you need an appt for a fitting, yada yada. The cost for a simple hem was $60, plus the time to go back in for an appt, and because it was only 3 weeks away, and extra $25 to rush it. What a scam! Needless to say I bought the dress, looked on Yelp and found Penfield Tailors. No appt necessary, I stopped in, tried the dress on, Bulent measured the dress and quoted $20 to do the hem and he would have it done next week. Lovely space, private dressing room (he even had a pair of heels in case they were needed) and he was friendly & relaxed. He even helped zip me lol.
