My fur babe is on a novel protein diet and we just found out he's allergic to chicken so we're back to his basics, elk and kangaroo. Seeing as how these aren't going anywhere I figured I'd lean into it for his birthday and get him some gently cooked elk. He already eats freeze dried elk and elk lungs, so it wasn't a stretch.
I found them some months back doing a search. I was impressed that they were local and had so many options for foods. I shared it with our vet consultant who was also impressed. I love how much info is on the site, helping those unfamiliar. I learned a lot reading their articles and info.
I did end up calling bc I didn't see how to set up the local pick up option. Naturally once she walked me through it, doing what I did, it worked. I thought about delivery, but it was $20 and I had to go to that side of town anyway so I did pickup.
The site says the food is ready Wednesday, I got word that mine was ready Tuesday. I went and got it Thursday. I don't have facility pics bc my phone was at the Apple Store getting gutted. It was clean and there was a smell that's probably in line w cleaning and sterilisation.
The freezers had bigger bags of food in them, I got a teeny little gift bag lol. But I had to try it first, see if we'd make it to be one of the big bags. Happy to say that it went over REALLY Well! I was a little worried when I put it down. He looked at it and back at me and walked away. Couple mins later the plate was clean! Been getting clean plates ever since.
Right now it's something we're trying out. I don't think it's necessary for him to eat solely this. Plus with this weight and their recommendation, it'd be upwards of $300/month. Which I'm not complaining for high quality food, free of irritants, but at the same time, if it's not necessary, I don't want to put him through any thing extra. Especially given that feeding raw requires behaviour changes that make for more work. If we ever decide to fully go raw, I'm absolutely choosing Fetching! It mixes well with his supplements, waters and raw goats milk.
We'll be testing pork to see if he's allergic, so I may get more gently cooked for him. Plus they do chunks for protein and teeth cleaning, so I'll be ordering some of those soon. read more
