As part of the water line repair program thru St. Louis County; Shamrock Sewer & Drain LLC was…read moregiven the contract to replace the water line from the meter to my house. There was no communication between me and the contractor until after the hole was dug 29 days after I was notified by the County. I believe the photos speak for themselves. They will not be getting any repeat busy from me.

I have never received a more ridiculous bid. This company gave me a bid for $20,000 for a job that…read morewas done by another company for less than half of that price with a warranty. Shamrock's bid required tearing up concrete inside my basement bathroom and outdoor concrete sidewalk. The bid did not include fixing these things back to where they were just for the record. Meaning they would tear out the wall, the toilet, the sink, the tile, and I was responsible for getting rid of all the debris and replacing everything and putting it all back together. They basically said in the bid that they are not responsible for just about anything that happens while they are there and did not even give a quote on the length of pipe to be replaced. Meaning they could tell me anything once they opened up the ground and said oh well that wasn't included. They basically said if we damage the grinder pit that they aren't responsible for that. If the digging they do compromises the structural integrity of my deck that they aren't responsible. If their equipment gets stuck in a pipe, I am responsible to pay for the removal and repair of that. They aren't responsible for any damage caused by weather so then they can just leave everything as is and not worry about trying to mitigate anything. This contract was the biggest joke I had ever seen. It did not include a diagram of where the new pipes would go, how much of the concrete would be removed, where the new pipe would go and on and on. With a huge price tag and many disclaimers that said the price could end up being signifcantly higher than the original bid. The company I did hire fixed the pipe, did not tear up any concrete, inside or out, did not disturb the soil around my deck piers, and were done in less than a day. I had another company inspect their work and the project passed inspection. This cost less than half of Shamrocks ridiculous bid and came with a warranty. Shamrock wanted to destroy so much of my property for absolutely no reason, well, the reason was to walk away with big dollars and leave me with a nightmare.

I've used A&J two or three times now, all with excellent service. One time, it was a holiday,…read morefreezing cold, and dark; they showed up as champs, and were polite and professional under clearly challenging conditions. Recently we had Sean come out to trouble-shoot, and ended up with a video camera DVD of a drain line from the gutter to the street, which pinpointed our troubles. Plus some ideas for low cost fixes; all for a reasonable fee, and in good time. Very professional all the way through, from service to technology to paperwork. Here's your Pro-Tip from Sean: remember to rout out your lines before the holidays, as a matter of routine maintenance. Otherwise, when the house is suddenly full of twenty relatives - whoops! What might have been a small problem turns into a big problem at a bad time. Thanks, Sean!

Prompt service. They go above and beyond to make sure things are back in order and running smoothly.read more

Evan recently installed extensions to our remodeled basement from our existing central vacuum…read moresystem. He was very thorough and reasonably priced. One day after completing the installation of our basement vacuum extensions, he immediately came back out to our house to fix the system because the drywallers for the basement botched up our system (on a Saturday, no less!) by their severing a wire to the system making the suction fail. It wasn't Evan's fault, but theirs. He came out and saved the day! Great customer service!

called The Vac Shack and talked to Evan about overheating issue with our Beam central vac system…read more He explained several possible causes but felt sure that it was the main mother board and gave an estimate. We had Evan come to the house a couple days later. After careful testing and diagnosis, he decided to change the board. Evan then spent a considerable amount of time checking to make sure this fixed the overheating issue which it did. He also inspected and cleaned the filter which he did not charge for. His estimate was spot on. We are very pleased with his work and saved us quite a lot of money over buying a new unit. Would recommend for vacuum repairs.

The repair man said he didn't have the correct belts and he would have to come back. I was fine with that. They do not charge for a service call if you have them complete the work. When the repair called to set up the second appointment, I mentioned the service call fee and he said that there would be no charge, since I had already paid $ 90 Well, when he was done, I paid him $ 231.00. Well in my opinion, $ 321.00 is an exceptionnly high cost to replaice washing machine belt. I can safely say I will not be using Kevin again.
