The Presidente supermarket chain was founded about 30 years ago by a Cuban American family. It's still family owned. There are 30 markets in south Florida in the tri-county area. The chain caters to Latin American customers with a certain emphasis on specialized products, but tries also to be an inexpensive alternative in areas where other markets don't exist. I had not ever been to this particular one. I was surprised by the large number of Chinese women shopping there while we were browsing. We came here as we were a few stores away and decided to check it out. They have a large produce department, fresh fish department and meat sections. I was hoping to do some of my shopping list here, but they didn't have many of the items I was looking for. My husband did find a very large container of white vinegar at a very cheap sale price of $1.49. So we did buy that plus some hot sauce. It was fun to explore the shelves and see some unusual tropical juices and other ethnic items not regularly found in our local Publix.

Presidente Supermarket is an independent supermarket, It was started 30 years ago by a Cuban American family and they still own it today. There are a number of locations from Miami to Orlando. This store in Margate used to be a Winn Dixie and then I believe a Sedanos. The supermarkets that get put in this mostly dead plaza never last. I walked in and as soon as the smell hit me I can't say I was very impressed. The meat area looked dirty and the rest of the store looked run down. They serve what you would typically expect to find in a grocery store with an emphasis on Latin items. They also have a hot bar serving prepared foods. The reason for my five stars is that they were only place during the Hurricane Dorian preparation window that had water and they had a lot of it. They didn't price gouge with cases costing $4 and a limit of 3 per customer. I was able to get my water after working 12 hours a day which was a huge relief to me. I don't know why but when a hurricane is coming there is comfort in seeing a stack of water in your house, LOL. I have enough True water to last me the rest of the year. We are now out of the cone of concern as the storm is predicted to stay off the coast so keep your fingers crossed for Florida and the prayers coming. Presidente has my ever lasting gratitude for keeping the water coming.

Noticed recently this opened up and wanted to visit. My experience was just a decently average experience. I saw the most popular foods for Caribbean & Latin cuisine. I decided to order from the prepared cooked foods and picked Sancocho, which was ok and then I had Red Beans morro. The food didn't look overly appealing but maybe I came at the wrong time. I think next time I'll come around 11:00am when they most likely will have just put the food out.

I love this place. I usually get what I am going to be cooking and eat it quickly…read more I like that you can buy one or two peppers instead of a pack of everything like ALDI. I have been going here for 2 years now. They started to buy bins of good and I do not really see anything good in those buys. I might be the only one but I liked it better when it just had produce and other food items. The people that work there are very nice. Bring your own bags to shop. Worth going and seeing what you think. I love their herbs there. They have lots of fresh greens too. They get a truck every day but you do not know what's on it. Give it a try.

Average quality, high prices. Their old location was bomb and this one is a dud…read more In my humble opinion, the pompano store rocked. 80% of their items were fair priced and 20% were great bargains! They always encouraged me to come back, and I did. Quality is OK day-of. Most of it needs to be eaten quickly. For instance their watermelon or mangoes wont be good after a week. That's fine but $5.99/small melon or $1/mango are almost as bad as publix. Not quite but almost. Where's the deals? If its expensive, Where's the high quality? I respect their game and wish them luck but sadly its a closed chapter for me. Its not that im not going to return out of spite, but I wont be returning simply because there's no point to. Theres no deals or anything amazing anymore. Best of luck

Pretty good size supermarket with a big emphasis on Latin American and Caribbean products…read more I grew up in Panama, so I am used to markets that have butchers working behind the counter and things flying all over the place as they cut things up...coming in here reminded me of that....there's that particular butcher shop smell that some people like my husband find very disturbing. I don't care.. I went in to get some chips. I found what I wanted and I saw lots of many options as well. Everyone speaks Spanish here, so if you don't, you might have a few issues asking questions or getting answers....

The target market here are Caribbean people. Along with the grocery, there is a small café, and hot food deli, mostly Hispanic/Caribbean foods. This is my go to store for poultry. It's very in expensive, and I like the quality. You can find daily specials as well. There is also a meat/fish counter, where you can order what you want by the pound. Now, cleanliness... as soon as you hit the door, you are hit with a stench, but to be fair, the ventilation in this entire plaza sucks. I used to own a small thrift shop in the same plaza and could never get rid of the stench, as the same for my shop neighbors at the time. But being that this is a grocery store, makes you wonder where is the stench coming from, lol. For me, it's not that bad where I won't come here. It's a very dated building, and could use a remodel and some new tile. When it comes to service, I've only interacted with the cashiers, and depending on who you get, you may or may not to get a hello. I only found it rude when the cashier does not greet me or say anything, just scans my items and hands me the receipt, but she then says "Hola " to the customers behind me. Hmph. With all of the negatives, this is still my go to spot for poultry. Your money could go a long way here.

The store itself is great. I love Trader Joe's for its high quality store brand products and fresh produce. Like most locations, it is on the smaller side, but they really make the most of every inch of space. Their flowers are always my favorite thing to grab. They offer some pre-made bouquets, but I especially love the wide assortment of individual flowers so you can build your own arrangement. There is always a great variety of flowers and greenery, which I really appreciate. While I cannot shop here for all my household needs, there are definitely staple items I come back for, and I usually end up finding something new to try each visit. The staff are friendly, and they do a great job keeping registers open to handle the steady flow of customers, which is nice.

The "treasure hunt" experience here is real. One minute I'm picking up authentic Korean Scallion Pancakes, the next I'm grabbing Indian Butter Chicken, and finishing up with some Italian Tiramisu. The frozen section alone is like a culinary passport, and the best part is that the quality is high while the prices stay surprisingly low. The staff is always friendly and willing to chat about their own favorite finds or new seasonal items that just arrived. If you love exploring new cuisines but don't want to buy an expensive plane ticket (or expensive ingredients elsewhere), you have to check this place out. It makes grocery shopping actually fun. Highly recommended!
