We shop here weekly for fruit & vegetables, meat & deli items. Occasionally we also grab some ethnic ingredients for special dishes that are hard to find elsewhere. The place is clean, prices are great & the quality beats most other local stores. We don't buy dry goods here as the prices for those items are not as good as a store like Walmart, for example. Deli has Boar's Head products that sell for several dollars per pound less than Publix. And again, produce is great as are the meats! They also sell pineapple muffins that are just unbelievable. & at a great price. read more

Excellent meat and fish the largest variety of meat and fish I have ever seen and the quality is fantastic

I went for the meat. They have the best selection around. Both this location and their Southern location. I gave them a four because they are very expensive for random other things like rice and noodles, so I can't do all of my shopping here, but absolutely phenomenal for vegetables and meats and fish. Everything is clean, most of the staff is very nice. A clientele is also very nice, everyone making room for each other in the aisles. read more

Broward Meat & Fish isn't just a supermarket--it's a full-on Caribbean food adventure. The butcher counter here puts Publix to shame: fresh cuts, seasoned right, and a staff that actually knows their stuff. The hot food area? A trip through the islands without needing a passport--oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, you name it. I love supporting independently owned markets, and this one delivers every time. You walk in and it feels alive--spices in the air, music playing, and people who actually enjoy shopping. The only reason it's not five stars? It can get crowded and a little chaotic (but honestly, that's half the charm). Four stars, because this is easily one of the best places in Broward to shop, eat, and feel like you're part of something local and authentic. read more

I'm so grateful to be walking distance from this place. It's great for the groceries and also great for some lunch and dinner. The amazing thing is they start making all the lunch and dinner items early in the morning. It's also a great paste to cater. If you're in the mood for some hot food at a good price, I would highly recommend you grab some food from there. You can get it as a combo or you can get it per pound. The prices are pretty good. read more

So I have to update my review and sad that I have too.. I come here with my aunt and it's a weekly thing, as I take her to grab her groceries . This is her fav place to shop for our Caribbean foods. For the most part everyone is very nice, friendly and helpful. She gets everything she needs for the week. Price are great. My only complaint is the older white woman at the customer service counter, on more than one occasion she has been very rude to my aunt. I believe she is a manager. When asked any questions, she acts like customers are a bother . If you aren't people friendly then do NOT WORK CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to hold myself back from cursing her out this past Friday. She was rude with everyone who came in her line. The 1st time this has happened, I brushed it off, everyone has bad days and I thought it was her day.. but this is all the time. Every single time I come in and see her, she's being rude. She either needs to be in the back not working with people or not working there at all! read more

Love the freshness of the vegetables and meats. I find a variety of different kinds of food. Highly recommended this place.

Um kind of an interesting place. First of all, this used to be the same place as the old pen, dutch supermarket. It is an ethnic supermarket with a large variety of meats, fish and food from all around the world. As soon as you walk in, you are overwhelmed by the horrible smell of fish. Honestly, I don't understand why some supermarkets smell like this. And others don't. Places like publix don't have this horrible fish smell that some of these supermarkets have. I'm wondering if some of the fish is just bad or something. Anyways I thought the prices were ok. Not too bad it seems okay... they did have a wide selection of things from many countries which I thought was pretty cool. After reading other reviews, I got kind of scared to eat the meat I purchased. In terms of the service i dont have much to comment on as I just bought items and took them to checkout read more

This is my new go-to destination for steak and chicken. You cannot beat the price or quality. The seafood is always fresh and very competitively priced. The quality of the produce is also very good. While you can find cheaper produce at Aldi or Seabra, I find it convenient that I can find all the veggies that I want to put on the grill with my meats. If you're looking for specific Hispanic foods, they'll have them here, but you'll pay a premium compared to other locations. I also love that the staff here is helpful and knowledgeable. Every department here is clean and well organized. I'll be coming back every time I plan to grill. read more

Broward Meat and Fish is located in Margate where Penn Dutch used to be. It has been remodeled and updated, but it's pretty much the same type of store. I am actually very impressed with the products they carry in their grocery area. They have an array of international products like Peruvian, Mexican, Salvadorian, Brazilian and more. I love it. Their meat butcher area isn't big, but their seafood case is. I did get a whole filet mignon sleeve and had the butcher cut it for me. He was very nice and cit to my specifications. They carry lots of meats and frozen items as well. I will definitely comeback read more

I lost My appetite at this establishment because the service desk lady can't understand instructions. Arguing with me over A Powerball ticket I didn't want. I told her what I needed and she gave me something completely different and then tells me I'm wrong! The Manager was came over and put his key in the register to refund my money. The counter lady was pissed and slammed My change on the counter with an attitude. It's always that one employee that ruins the fun of a repeat customer. I can't recommend this place any longer. Sorry! Best of luck! read more

Broward Meat & Fish - TRI TIP - 5 large ones in a vacuum packed Bag- around $94. Delicious! Great quality. - Grocery Near Me - Margate, Florida

This store recently opened, so I had to check it out. Located in the old Penn Dutch location on Sample and 441, this store is brand new from top to bottom. It went through a total transformation, everything screams new and clean. The store specializes in Caribbean and international foods, with a nice selection of fresh meat seafood, produce and wine. Theres a hot food area, a deli and baked goods. The store is merchandised well and it's easy to navigate. Know your prices. Some items are priced well and others can be a bit pricey. I love the fresh seafood area, it has a nice selection of wild caught fish. read more

Broward Meat and Fish was founded in 1991 as a butcher and seafood market specializing in Caribbean and international specialties, fresh meat, seafood, and produce, groceries, frozen foods, hot food, deli meats and cheeses, wine, liquor, and beer and more. They have now expanded to locations in Pembroke Pines and this brand new one in Margate. All of the locations have butchers and fishmongers at the full-service meat and seafood counters prepare your selection the way you want it. The store is located in the old Penn Dutch location off of State Rd 7 and it is an improvement. The store looks clean, is well lit, and clearly marked so you can find what you need. I picked up some fresh herbs for my stuffing. The colossal stone crabs were going for market price at $69 a pound. This week they have a standing rib roast for $6.99 a pound. Jenny O whole turkeys are 99 cents a pound. I primarily shop at Aldi's but this store is on the way so I will keep an eye out for the weekly specials and may pop in from time to time. The only thing I didn't like was the smell that smacks you in the nose the moment you walk in. Is it the fish? I don't know why a brand new store would smell like that. read more

This is a 4 rating on cleanliness, amount of stock, the meat and seafood, and newness. And a 3 on prices on other items besides meat. The store is easy to find -- it's in the former Penn Dutch location on the west side of 441/SR7. But it's been completely redone. Inside, it's bright and airy and easy to navigate. Signs above the shelves help to find generic departments. In addition to all the fresh meats and seafoods, there is a large bank of frozen possibilities. In addition, there's a deli area and hot foods (like empanadas, etc), a smaller baked goods section and canned goods. There are aisles of various international and ethnic food products as well. You have to know what the "regular" prices are to make a judgement. Most prices are better than Publix; however, many are more -- and in some cases much more expensive -- than Walmart neighborhood grocery. We did buy some ice cream, some frozen soft shell crabs, some parcha (maracuya) drink mix and a few other items. This is the place I'd come for meat or seafood. But I'd think twice about regular grocery shopping here --unless the convenience would override my budget. Welcome to the neighborhood. read more

Can't beat the variety and well-stocked inventory of everything ethnic. Store is spacious, bright, clean, neutral smelling--not fishy. Employees are mostly pleasant and efficient. The hot deli meals are very reasonable. The staff give generous portions, so I always tip--that gets the cowbell rung in appreciation. There is a dine-in section. The roasted pork chop and quarter chicken meals were delicious. Got a few servings from both meals. Although the prices are a little higher than other locations, the shopping experience is many times better at the Margate Plus location. Lots of parking, bigger store, well-organized, fast checkout. T So far, the quality of items purchased has been great. read more

Former Penn Dutch customer, reviewing first time in this store. I was a regular at Penn Dutch and recently went to Broward meat and fish for the first time. Like Penn Dutch, their prices are great, selection is unique and has lots of ethnic choices/aisles. It surpasses Penn Dutch in their decor/layout/cleanliness. I now live further away, but would definitely drive out to stock up when having a party. Excellent choices and great seafood selection, especially frozen. Notice pix of the octopus selection, and that wasn't all of it! I bought bags of frozen clams that were $3.99. Just steamed them and it was awesome. read more

The store has a good selection of produce and international (mostly Caribbean) foods. Even though there's a large fish section, they manage to camouflage the smell quite well. Everything is very clean, and the prices are mostly reasonable. Plenty of parking and friendly staff. I can see this becoming a new go-to for most my Jamaican foodstuffs. read more

I lived here 22 years before going to Broward Meat & Fish when the Margate location took over the old Penn Dutch. TBH-I only checked it out because I had to shop and cook for a special needs dog but I was so impressed by the cleanliness, organization and helpful and pleasant staff. It's worth it for me to drive from FTL to there even though I'm a member of Costco & BJs, I go here for my dog as well as my family. I wasn't expecting it to be as good smelling also considering the type of store it is and was pleasantly surprised. read more

Nice and spatial place. Lot of choices in meat and fish department. They stay behind their name.

The store is very nice . Love it opened up . Much nicer than Penn Dutch. The steaks and produce looks very good . They have all kinds of vegetables. Not as cheap as previous store . They had a greeter as you walked in . Staff was very friendly. It smelled very good inside . The only thing I had an issue with was the croquettes were cold and smooshed. Needed a lot more filling . read more

Pretty regular customer but may not go back with all the other grocery options. Main reason is the guy at the meat counter was really rude!' I I understand you get busy but if you can't handle the pressure then don't work in customer service! I simply asked for assistance with a cut of meat and it was like it was an inconvenience. Sorry but I thought that's what you are supposed to do at the butchers counter. read more

I went to Broward Meat and Fish grand opening weekend and the store was packed! The store was super busy and there was a lot of excitement. Will definitely be visiting again! read more

As an avid grocery shopper this place is the best thing that has happened to me in recent months it's not like other Broward nest locations that are usually not the easiest to navigate, not the tidiest and have a weird smell. From fresh flowers to a great wine selection to a variety of seafood, I can't help but come here twice a week! read more

I grew up right outside of sheepshead bay Brooklyn! I grew up on fresh fish just caught out of the ocean when the ocean was a lot cleaner. This store I was so disappointed when I went. You could just look at the fish if you know fish and see most of it as previously frozen like the meat! The chicken was so cheap. It's not FDA or USDA anything. Where is it from people be careful. The frozen seafood that's up to you. A lot of it comes from Indonesia today. I would never buy here. They lie and say everything is fresh at the fish market. Then you see the frozen fish beans, defrosted, and the meat a fellow there said all of it was previously frozen and who knows where it's coming from and how it's treated. It's not a bargain/lies. Today you have to be so careful with all the bacteria out there on top of everything else, but you don't need to be lied to. I wouldn't eat anything from there, but that's me. read more

Still has that gross smell that Penn Dutch did. I probably should have known better but I saw someone post about a curry goat lunch special and gave it good marks. I have only gone here twice, and both times the beef and seafood that I purchased tasted like the cleaning product the store uses. I'm not sure why and was wondering if anyone had this experience as well. It's a great market but I am now turned off buying seafood and meat from them. read more

The new location of Broward Meat and Fish in Margate. I think they did a great job of cleaning up the old Penn Dutch location but this is an entirely different type of supermarket from what existed previously. If you're not familiar with the other locations in Fort Lauderdale, this is more of a gentrified Caribbean and Latin American style market as the brands and types of products reflected are from those ethnic groups. There is a very good meat and fish selection, lots of sausages and things from Argentine and Dominican and other types of Latin American businesses. Grace Foods was there doing a demonstration so there's a lot of Jamaican stuff as well. I would say that you should come here for the seafood deals and the meat, there really isn't much of a cheese section left compared to the old store. It's all packaged stuff as there isn't much in terms of gourmet cheese selection. The produce are of good quality overall but can be expensive. read more
