I went for the meat. They have the best selection around. Both this location and their Southern location. I gave them a four because they are very expensive for random other things like rice and noodles, so I can't do all of my shopping here, but absolutely phenomenal for vegetables and meats and fish. So I have to update my review and sad that I have too.. I come here with my aunt and it's a weekly thing, as I take her to grab her groceries . This is her fav place to shop for our Caribbean foods. For the most part everyone is very nice, friendly and helpful. She gets everything she needs for the week. Price are great. My only complaint is the older white woman at the customer service counter, on more than one occasion she has been very rude to my aunt. I believe she is a manager. When asked any questions, she acts like customers are a bother . If you aren't people friendly then do NOT WORK CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to hold myself back from cursing her out this past Friday. She was rude with everyone who came in her line. The 1st time this has happened, I brushed it off, everyone has bad days and I thought it was her day.. but this is all the time. I'm so grateful to be walking distance from this place. It's great for the groceries and also great for some lunch and dinner. The amazing thing is they start making all the lunch and dinner items early in the morning. It's also a great paste to cater. It is an ethnic supermarket with a large variety of meats, fish and food from all around the world. As soon as you walk in, you are overwhelmed by the horrible smell of fish. Honestly, I don't understand why some supermarkets smell like this.And others don't. Places like publix don't have this horrible fish smell that some of these supermarkets have. I'm wondering if some of the fish is just bad or something. Anyways I thought the prices were ok. This is my new go-to destination for steak and chicken. You cannot beat the price or quality. The seafood is always fresh and very competitively priced. The quality of the produce is also very good. While you can find cheaper produce at Aldi or Seabra, I find it convenient that I can find all the veggies that I want to put on the grill with my meats. If you're looking for specific Hispanic foods, they'll have them here, but you'll pay a premium compared to other locations. I also love that the staff here is helpful and knowledgeable. Broward Meat and Fish is located in Margate where Penn Dutch used to be. It has been remodeled and updated, but it's pretty much the same type of store. I am actually very impressed with the products they carry in their grocery area. They have an array of international products like Peruvian, Mexican, Salvadorian, Brazilian and more. I love it. Their meat butcher area isn't big, but their seafood case is. I did get a whole filet mignon sleeve and had the butcher cut it for me. He was very nice and cit to my specifications. I lost My appetite at this establishment because the service desk lady can't understand instructions. Arguing with me over A Powerball ticket I didn't want. I told her what I needed and she gave me something completely different and then tells me I'm wrong! The Manager was came over and put his key in the register to refund my money. All of the locations have butchers and fishmongers at the full-service meat and seafood counters prepare your selection the way you want it. The store is located in the old Penn Dutch location off of State Rd 7 and it is an improvement. The store looks clean, is well lit, and clearly marked so you can find what you need. I picked up some fresh herbs for my stuffing. The colossal stone crabs were going for market price at $69 a pound. This week they have a standing rib roast for $6.99 a pound. Jenny O whole turkeys are 99 cents a pound. I primarily shop at Aldi's but this store is on the way so I will keep an eye out for the weekly specials and may pop in from time to time. The only thing I didn't like was the smell that smacks you in the nose the moment you walk in. Is it the fish? I don't know why a brand new store would smell like that. read more

The store is easy to find -- it's in the former Penn Dutch location on the west side of 441/SR7. But it's been completely redone. Inside, it's bright and airy and easy to navigate. Signs above the shelves help to find generic departments. In addition to all the fresh meats and seafoods, there is a large bank of frozen possibilities. In addition, there's a deli area and hot foods (like empanadas, etc), a smaller baked goods section and canned goods. There are aisles of various international and ethnic food products as well. You have to know what the "regular" prices are to make a judgement. Most prices are better than Publix; however, many are more -- and in some cases much more expensive -- than Walmart neighborhood grocery. We did buy some ice cream, some frozen soft shell crabs, some parcha (maracuya) drink mix and a few other items. This is the place I'd come for meat or seafood. I lived here 22 years before going to Broward Meat & Fish when the Margate location took over the old Penn Dutch. TBH-I only checked it out because I had to shop and cook for a special needs dog but I was so impressed by the cleanliness, organization and helpful and pleasant staff. It's worth it for me to drive from FTL to there even though I'm a member of Costco & BJs, I go here for my dog as well as my family. Like Penn Dutch, their prices are great, selection is unique and has lots of ethnic choices/aisles. It surpasses Penn Dutch in their decor/layout/cleanliness. I now live further away, but would definitely drive out to stock up when having a party. Excellent choices and great seafood selection, especially frozen. Can't beat the variety and well-stocked inventory of everything ethnic. Store is spacious, bright, clean, neutral smelling--not fishy. Employees are mostly pleasant and efficient. The hot deli meals are very reasonable. The staff give generous portions, so I always tip--that gets the cowbell rung in appreciation. There is a dine-in section. The roasted pork chop and quarter chicken meals were delicious. Got a few servings from both meals. I grew up right outside of sheepshead bay Brooklyn! I grew up on fresh fish just caught out of the ocean when the ocean was a lot cleaner. This store I was so disappointed when I went. You could just look at the fish if you know fish and see most of it as previously frozen like the meat! The chicken was so cheap. It's not FDA or USDA anything. Where is it from people be careful. The frozen seafood that's up to you. A lot of it comes from Indonesia today. I would never buy here. They lie and say everything is fresh at the fish market. Then you see the frozen fish beans, defrosted, and the meat a fellow there said all of it was previously frozen and who knows where it's coming from and how it's treated. It's not a bargain/lies. Today you have to be so careful with all the bacteria out there on top of everything else, but you don't need to be lied to. I wouldn't eat anything from there, but that's me. read more

They brought life back to the plaza after Penn Dutch closed. They had great deals and demonstrations going on. There is a greeter at the front entrance who makes you feel welcomed. Deli is small but has a decent Boar's Head selection & with prices far better than Pub___! Great selection of bakery products, including sugar free & international favorites. The croissants were delicious. Large produce area with everything you could want. The grocery area is smaller & the concentration is on international products. This isn't where you go to buy Cheerios & coke, although they do have them. This is where you buy all your meat, fish, produce, spices, deli, bakery & favorite international items. It's like several specialty shops in one. This store has everything ! I had a small handicap issue when I got there & Gary ( manager) went above & beyond. The new location of Broward Meat and Fish in Margate. I think they did a great job of cleaning up the old Penn Dutch location but this is an entirely different type of supermarket from what existed previously. If you're not familiar with the other locations in Fort Lauderdale, this is more of a gentrified Caribbean and Latin American style market as the brands and types of products reflected are from those ethnic groups. There is a very good meat and fish selection, lots of sausages and things from Argentine and Dominican and other types of Latin American businesses. Grace Foods was there doing a demonstration so there's a lot of Jamaican stuff as well. I would say that you should come here for the seafood deals and the meat, there really isn't much of a cheese section left compared to the old store. It's all packaged stuff as there isn't much in terms of gourmet cheese selection. The produce are of good quality overall but can be expensive. read more

I use to work in a supermaket corporate office and was involved with shelf price labels. I agree with the previous posts about this chain of stores. The recently open location in Margate has some very good pricing but you have to know which products are over priced by you life's experience. The meat department in the pre-packaged area are imported for the most part, Not USDA inspected. When I shopped there initially the packages were not marked properly. If you are not sure ask the man behind the meat counter. The chicken and pork products appear to be priced somewhat less then the local competition.
