I know previous reviews mentioned the front office/ secretary customer service as an issue; however, they now have the must bubbly, warm, and welcoming environment. I'm not sure if what happened here was illegal, but either way it made my stomach churn. Dr Ferrill was an hour late for my son's and my first appointment. She seemed very busy and not interested in hearing about my sons diagnosis, despite needing to fill out an OHI form for the school and attest to how his diagnosis impacts him in the classroom. She cut me off while I was trying to tell her how his diagnosis impacts him in the classroom and wanted to know why he was on the medication he's on. I was a little speechless partly from being cut off and partly because she obviously had an opinion about what he was on. So I told her, "IDK, because it works?" She immediately tells me she's going to change it and proceeds to move onto my health issues. Also questioning my medication, that I've been on for 5 years without incident and wants to change that too...ok, sure we can try something else. I regret not saying something sooner, but I felt like I'd done something wrong and maybe she was right and we needed to make some changes. That night I loose sleep over switching my son's medication in the middle of his school testing, when he has a medication that works. I didn't fill his new prescription, as I want to talk with the Dr about it. I start my new medication the following day and within an hour feel awful, I can't get out of bed and it feels like I'm completely useless. I call the doctors office and ask to speak with the Dr. I'm told I can make an appt, however I haven't met my deductible (long story, but I lost my job and I don't have the greatest insurance) and I don't want to pay more to see the Dr to fix what didn't go well the day before. The receptionist is defensive and say's she'll pass my message and negative symptoms I'm having with the new medication onto the PA, however if I don't hear back in 48 hrs, I should call back....really!?!?! The PA does call later that day and plays go between between Dr Ferrill and I. She scoffs when I tell her of the symptoms I'm having after changing my medication, telling me, well that doesn't make sense. "Why don't you take it at night and maybe we can cut the dose in half". At this point, I feel so frustrated that she's not hearing me and so I tell her....I'm not going to keep taking a medication that makes me feel like this, when I had a medication that worked just fine before. I've also expressed concerns about changing my sons medication in the middle of testing and she's ignoring my concerns. I finally stopped the conversation and let her know we would be seeking medical care else where. Here's where I question the ethical and possibly legal nature of what Dr Ferrill did. Once I established care with a new doctor, btw a completely opposite experience. This Dr was on time, listened and we discussed appropriate courses of treatment and I left feeling like so much differently than I did with Dr Ferrill. The new doctor agreed that yes, we should look to change my sons medication to an extended release, however she agreed that switching it during testing, wasn't the best course of action. Even suggested we wait until the holiday or summer break, so I could monitor its effects. So when I went to fill my son's original medication, at the pharmacy, the pharmacist accidentally filled the medication Dr Ferrill has prescribed. The pharmacist quoted me $162 for a month of this new medication, I was aghast! This was after insurance and we pay about $15 for 3 months of the original medication my son was prescribed. When I explained that we didn't need that medication and my shock at the cost, the pharmacist offered, without prompting, that Dr's get 'kick backs' from drug companies to prescribe their medications. That is exactly what it felt like with Dr Ferrill, that she was pushing a medication and using her position of power to assert herself for her own personal gain. I pray that you head this warning and seek care elsewhere. Whether illegal or not, she put my sons and my health in jeopardy to push her own agenda and likely line her own pockets. What kind of doctor does that??? She has the bedside manner of cranky Aunt Ida and I'm so thankful I found a doctor who will treat my family and our health with thoughtful and connective discussion. read more

Dr. Ferrill has been my doc for years. She is fabulous and so is Kim. The staff is always so nice and helpful. They have a great attitude which is nice when you are feeling like crap. I have referred friends and family without hesitation. It's also easy to get an appointment. read more

Dr. Ferrill has been my doctor for several years. I am usually able to get in to see her the next business day, or sometimes even the same day I call. I love that she is in a small practice with the same staff, and they always seem to remember me when I call or visit. She takes her time to really listen to my concerns and makes me feel comfortable sharing. If something doesn't seem right, she is honest and decisive about a plan of care, or referring me to the proper specialist. I highly recommend this primary care physician for excellence in all areas. read more

I've been going to Dr. Ferrill for years. At first, I loved how friendly she was. Really down to earth and talks to you like a real person. Now she comes in and doesn't even look at you, just stares at her computer screen while she types. The past 2 or 3 times I have been in she hasn't even put her hands on me to check symptoms. She's very test happy, automatically says you need this and this test no matter what's wrong with you, which ends up costing an arm and a leg. They do blood work in house- how convenient for them. She always refers you to a specialist, even for something simple like headaches or stomach aches. They MAKE you come in for a visit if you need a refill (she generally gives out 3 months at a time)- so you have to pay your co-pay or full office visit every time. The front staff gets very pissy if you ask for special requests over the phone. If it wasn't so much trouble to get everything transferred, I would start going to another Primary immediately. Fortunately for me the price of a specialist is the same so I just go directly to them. No need to visit Dr. Ferrill when she is just going to send me to them anyway. read more

The office staff is slow to respond and seldom follows explicit directions (ie.mail me a copy). Doctor is nice, but will not treat anything directly, always refers to specialists and requires an appointments for most refills. read more

Have been going to this practice since it opened. Because of some health issues, she does only do my refills every 6 months, so I can have appropriate blood work. I have always had questions answered quickly, the medical assistant talks to me and then calls me back with answer. She does not prescribe antibiotics or medication over the phone, so if you are looking for that, then you need to go elsewhere. There is a lab draw station in house, which I prefer it keeps the wait time down. The computer thing, I am finding with all doctors, now that medical records have to be on computer. Now that doctors are getting more comfortable with the computer, more of them are making eye contact. I appreciate the family medicine where she can treat my husband and myself. read more

At first I really liked Dr Ferrill, she seemed understanding and listened to what I had to say. However, the last time I saw her her tone was different and I felt as though I was annoying her. She also wouldn't refill a prescription for an every day script SHE had originally written me saying I needed to see a specialist. Very frustrating. You see a general practitioner so someone would manage your general care for a reason, if I needed a specialist I would have seen one. read more

My daughter and I have been seeing Dr. Ferrill for about 2 years now and are both very happy with the our experiences with her office staff and with Dr. Ferrill herself. My main complaint with so may Dr's is you sit and wait and then you feel rushed once you see the Dr. She does not rush you at all. She takes time to answer any and all questions that you have. She takes time to talk to my 14 year old daughter at her well check visits and makes her feel comfortable and relaxed. My daughter loves going to her and I recommend Dr. Ferrill to anyone with teens because she can relate to them unlike so many other Dr's out there! Our wait times have never been too long and I would and have recommended Dr. Ferrill to any who asks what Dr. we go to! read more

Horrible office staff. They are very rude and act annoyed when asked simple questions. They basically try to talk you into going somewhere else. The PA (Kim) was nice and helpful but Dr. Shelley seemed very condescending, saying things like, "Aww. You poor thing." Sounded very fake, no true concern. Not sure if she thought I should've toughed-out the sinus infection or what. My husband tried to go for a simple annual exam since he had been here before and doesn't go to doctors often, but she said he should've made the appointment 3-4 months ahead of time! Suggested he go somewhere else if he needs it sooner! Wow. I can't imagine she has many happy patients? We have BCBS insurance and there was no reason for the attitude we've experienced. I rarely write reviews but I wouldn't want anyone going here with better options out there. read more

The only reason why I am giving this office 2 stars is because the doctors and nurses in the office have been wonderful since my husband and I started visiting this office. I made an appointment for my husband last week for his annual physical. The receptionist that answered the phone asked all the needed questions and said they had one appointment left on the 29th and the next one was not until December. I said he would take the one on the 29th and has she finished asking her questions I wrote down the date and time. When my husband did not receive the normal call to confirm that appointment I called the morning of (this morning) to verify the time. After the receptionist took the necessary information she proceeded to tell be he had an appointment for his ears. I told her that was back in July and he had one today for his physical. The receptionist than began to tell me that all of the physical appointments had been booked for the past 2 months and their was no way it could have been booked last week. I told her today's date is what I have had written down and that their must have been a cancellation and I had called at the right time to get that slot. She said that was not possible. He needed to have his appointment by the 30th and luckily I got him into what will be our new general doctor. I was basically called a liar and I do not find their front office staff to be friendly, professional, or competent at their jobs. On top of this issue, the wait time is terribly long to see anyone in the office. As stated above, we have found a new general doctor and will be taking ourselves there from now on. read more

I agree with the other reviewers that the staff is very unfriendly. My husband saw her first and she was great, she would take time with him to sort through his problem. When my kids pediatrician shut down I decided to set up a well-child appointment with Dr. Ferrill for them. When I checked in they told me that my appointment was yesterday and that I would have to reschedule, even though I took my kids out of school early. I asked why they did not call to confirm the appointments she told me that confirming appointments is a courtesy and they only do it if they have the time. Had they confirmed, I could have had them there the day before. Now they have to miss school again because the front desk is too lazy to confirm appointments. Honestly, I think the receptionist wrote the appointment down on the wrong day. Regardless, as much as we liked Dr. Ferrill it is not worth it to have to deal with an incompetent staff. read more
