This was my first time eating here and it was great!! They have an awesome patio that overlooks the Big Sur river. And at each table they had nice flowers, so great ambiance! And the food was really good. We got the fried brussel sprouts, which came with a bourbon honey, golden raisins and blue cheese crumbles (def order these) and I got the fried chicken sando-no bun! Also really good. My bf had 2 great margaritas! We will definitely be back the next time we are up there! Oh and great service too!

Room, looks ok from outside, avoid if your room is on the end of the row!

We needed a room as the 101 was shut after an accident, so got the last room, was absolutely disgusting, so small, very very dated, only room for bed, no air con, was just rubbish & wasn't cheap, too tired to try get anything else, but would not recommend. The food we had was decent, but no breakfast available??? Weird

my favorite place to stay in big sur! We lucked out and were able to book the room with the hot tub on the balcony and it was so amazing! the price was definitely worth it and i felt it was very reasonable. Loved how private and peaceful it was! We've gone to big sur multiple times but this time was my favorite and staying here heavily influenced that! Will always come back to stay!

Our favorite camping spot! We come here annually every year. The beautiful river, trees, and foliage is always so relaxing and allows one to recharge instantly. But, it does book quickly; thus, you should book a year in advance to get the dates you desire or else it is slim pickings! You can bring your RV, get a spot to tent camp, rent their tent cabins or get a hotel room. So many options! I so love Fernwood!

I reserved a cabin for April online a could weeks ago. I am not able to attend and wanted to cancel. They are charging me almost $70 to cancel (cancellation fees and online registration fees). Their cabins get booked all the time and there's plenty of time for someone else to book it. These cabins are super popular. No need to charge anything for canceling.

Amazingly beautiful camp with very clean bathroom and shower. Also had electric with 30 amp and 120 v for my tesla. Will be coming back again soon.

Had an awesome first camping experience with our young children at Fernwood! We stayed in one of five cabins on site during July 2023. The cabin is fully furnished with five beds, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, even pots and pans and bedding. Basically all the comforts of home. Staff is kind and helpful and they have a small restaurant and convenience store on site. Great location tucked away off the highway in the trees along the Big Sur river where we spent a long time playing in the water and soaking up the sun. Lots of tents and RVs set up but it didn't feel loud or crowded. Quiet time after 10 pm but you're able to stay outside and enjoy a bonfire Ave the sounds of nature. So peaceful and relaxing. On that note, no Wi-Fi at the cabins but there is Wi-Fi and reception up by the store and restaurant. I left my favorite jersey behind in the cabin so I called them right away. They found it and shipped it back to my house! Overall this was a great experience and we can't wait to return!

Had a good camping experience here. Beautiful spot, and friendly staff! Cleanest restrooms I have seen at a camp place!! We had a blast! We will be back. Awesome store too! Shout out to Zeke and his dog....for being a friendly and helpful check in person.

I knew that going in. It was still starker than I expected. Start with the property. When that is the view off your deck, why go anywhere else? Stunning doesn't cover it. We hiked much of the grounds and every turn delivered something new. The kind of place that makes you slow down without even trying. Then the restaurant. Everything was perfect -- service, quality, execution. Much of the food sourced on property or from the surrounding community. My wife declared the salad the best she'd ever had. High praise for a salad. High praise, full stop. Special shout out to our server Yasmany and bartender Thomas -- both exceptional. What struck me most was how effortless the entire staff made it look. These are people who deal with guests from around the world, all arriving with high expectations of a high-end experience. And yet nothing felt forced. Nobody appeared to be trying to impress us. It was just perfect service, perfectly delivered. That's the rarest thing in hospitality. Highlight of the trip. Hands down. And I suspect, never to be repeated.

We were offered two menu options-one a pre-fixe for $85. App, main, dessert. A really excellent choice given the choices of fresh seafood or meat options and beautiful salad options. Additionally they offered à la carte with similar options but just different enough to entice. Several folks opted for a CA salad and then had the fish of the day put on top --I went for a special burger with a home made brioche bun , amazing fries and a Caesar salad. Haven't had a burger like that in ages. I have menu pics and interior exterior pics displaying options. Easier than me playing Stanley Tucci... I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful and professional the service is at Sierra Mar. Apologies to our server ( lovely young lady with long dark hair and a smile that says, "what can I do for you?" The location of the cabin is right off the creek of their property. Also It had rained the day before, so a small waterfall was flowing directly across from our place. That evening we sat by the fire, roasting marshmallows and sipping champagne while listening to the water and looking up at the redwood trees. It was just so magical. One detail I especially loved was the heated bathroom floors--such a cozy surprise and something I'm definitely not used to! The entire cabin was spotless and beautifully maintained. I'm very particular about cleanliness in hotels so I brought my mattress vacuum cleaner to inspect--the bed and pillows were not dusty, which gave me a peace of mind. Overall, our stay was perfectly the way I want to remember this trip. If I had stayed somewhere else, I don't think I would have had a great of an experience in Big Sur. Ambience and the aesthetics of the property grounds is important to me and it checked off all the boxes. April turned out to be the perfect time to visit: sunny, peaceful, and more affordable than peak season. I loved everything about this stay and we're already planning to come back. Recommendations: the pillows are goose down so it doesn't work for neck support. Bring a pillow you like from home if you have neck issues. Also, in Little Sur, your bed is underneath a window. Turn the blinds upwards so you don't wake up to the light in your eyes:)

This is my second time at the resort, once before COVID and then this recent experience. Things I missed from the pre-COVID days: Complimentary Daily newspaper to read on your balcony each morning, daily happy hour with wine and charcuterie in the social house, excursion off site to Pfeiffer beach for a hike and lunch and morning yoga on the Sur Wedding Vista. It's was adults only - while there were no children at the resort the second time, it does change the vibe when families of young children are there. No welcome signature cocktail (though they do offer bubbly upon arrival). The views are gorgeous and there's a lot of trails to hike and explore on the premise. Take advantage of the various hikes they offer (complimentary) and check out the garden activities too. The morning meditation was also a nice way to start the day. The restaurants are Sur House or Poolside. It's a limited menu, but you can find something for all types of eater - carnivore, vegetarian, vegan, etc. As it's an all inclusive, temper expectations as it's not a Michelin star/Bib Gourmand restaurant. It's good quality ingredients made in bulk for the day. Sometimes items needed more salt (or less!), sometimes it needed more spice (you can ask for hot sauce/salsa), etc. The best bites were 1/ pesto arancini balls (only during happy hour) - best deep fried item I've had ever ... crispy shell with a well balanced pesto, rice and cheese inside that is creamy, hot and delicious, 2/ zeppole (donut holes, available only during brunch) that are piping hot, pillowy and airy, not too sweet (dusted with powered sugar) and so incredible with a cup of coffee. The Poolside is lighter fare and the theme was cantina. I only ate there once and it was ok. The staff is friendly and courteous. Always saying good morning/evening, asking if you need anything, offering golf cart rides to and fro the premise, etc. Very welcoming! Come here to recharge, soak in the outdoors and take things leisurely.

After seeing the beautiful views each room had, I knew I had to convince my husband to book this hotel for our visit to Monterey/Carmel a few weeks ago in November. We booked an Ocean View Suite (Room 29) and while it was expensive, I think that it was well worth it! Their amenities, service, and little luxuries made our stay so special. Getting there: After spending the day in downtown Carmel, we made the drive up to the Carmel Highlands. The driveway is a bit steep and narrow, so be careful, especially if you're arriving at night. The lobby was easy and there was plenty of parking in the parking lot. The front desk checked us in and gave us a directory and map of the place. And upon arriving to our room, we were greeted with a chilled bottle of champagne, a rose, and fancy chocolates! So sweet! Room: Our room had a small living room with its own TV, a Good size closet with two other pillow options, a big bathroom with a tub and plenty of soft towels, and some amenities. And of course - Our bedroom! we had a large king size bed, two nightstands that had USB ports to charge your devices, and a sound machine. There is a bar, microwave, and small fridge, as well as some plates and silverware to eat any leftovers. They had a nice Nespresso machine complete with instructions, and some delicious tea options. My favorite part was the window seat with the amazing view of the ocean! The windows open which is nice to hear the seagulls yapping in the morning. My husband enjoyed their daily visit. We both enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunsets. Overall, it was pretty quiet, and felt very private. But early in the morning, we could hear a lot of furniture (?) being moved around. I'm not sure where it was coming from, but I assume it was the kitchen since they did have to prepare breakfast which started at 7:30. Just bring earplugs if you're sensitive to a lot of noise. Food: Breakfast was lovely! They had various teas, coffee, juices, freshly made mini egg, frittatas, bacon, pastries, yogurt, oatmeal, and bread. We enjoyed eating on the new glass deck. in the afternoon, they have their wine and cheese hour which is another lovely luxury of this hotel. I really enjoyed having a glass of wine while watching the sunset and spending time with my husband. They don't have a restaurant, but they have a small food menu and bring you something to eat during most of the day. there's also nearby restaurants less than a five minute walk from the inn. Pool: I enjoyed some time at the small pool. It's heated and it was quite warm and sunny, but felt amazing especially coming back to a cold New Jersey. Overall, I absolutely loved this place and would love to come back during the holidays or even the summer or anytime! They think of every detail, provide excellent service and little luxuries.
