Have driven past this place countless times and have always been intrigued by the eclectic nature I…read morecould see. Today, finally while driving past u saw that the open sign was on so I decided to make a quick stop and check it out. While I had a sort of strange and short experience I'll start with what I saw. Full of trinkets and a variety of items, it seems like a fantastic little spot to explore. The interior was not large, a small little shop likely food for a handful of people at a time, packed with things ranging from fun dishes, records, clothing, and random knickknacks. There was a little library outside along with larger pieces like statues and even some art pieces inside. Now I would love to go back and properly explore, get a better gauge of the pricing as well, but the reason I said "seems" earlier is that when I arrived, the lights were on, open sign was on, door was open. I walked in and there was some radio playing. But not a single person in sight, mind you it's a small space. I said "hello" a few times, stood there in plain view in case anybody walked out (last thing I wanted was to spook somebody on accident being behind a shelf or anything), and heard no response. I stood there a couple minutes, just looking around, but was a tad uncomfortable, not due to the place just the situation, and thus decided to leave and come back another time to more properly explore this space that seemed like a blend of an antique store and a child's playhouse. At least I now know their hours so I'll try again soon!

I wanted to convert a vintage bag chain into a necklace, but was struggling to find proper hardware…read morethat would look good with the chain. (Ex. Size, color, plating) I had checked craft shops and stores, but couldn't find anything that was a good match. Earlier during a quick trip to Chapel Hill, I remembered this shop was in the same mall as Mulberry Silks and we decided to stop in during our next visit. It's kind of across from Mulberry Silks and is near a ladies boutique and the CBD cafe. The shop offers jewelry making tools, beads, closures, and some pre-made items as well. There is a small workspace where you can make jewelry there and I suspect that they may hold workshops or classes from time to time. (There are signs saying that the staff could also try to design/help create custom jewelry pieces for customers if they are interested.) I believe we've run into the owner both times I've gone in and she's usually working on something but will look up and greet customers. If they have questions, she is happy to help. I like that there are closures and jewelry parts available that are 18 KT plated gold, and in addition, there are some gold filled ones as well. We did ask the owner to take a look at our chain to see what size of the 18 KT plated closures would fit or suit the chain we brought best. She pointed out two sizes and felt we could go either way. We didn't have the proper tools at home to install the hardware onto the chain, so the owner was gracious to let us use the workspace and tools to attach the hardware to the chain. Prices for the hardware were reasonable. Also I appreciated that she had the workspace available for us to utilize when we needed the correct tools to add them to the chain. With regard to parking, it can be a toss up. There are a few surface lots you can park in, but one of them is shared with Harris Teeter and can get full.

It's a good thing I don't depend on that to put food on the table and a roof over my head. Nonetheless, my creative spirit was definitely stiffled until I came upon another idea -- configuring digital photographs using Photoshop and then turning them into giclee prints. There are literally hundreds of printers on line who all claim to be the best. Their offerings seem amazing, almost too good to be true and most of the time they are. I went through three different printers until I found American Art Editions in Mount Airy, North Carolina. What a professional group of printers they are. From the time I send my image via e-mail to their server until I receive the print on my doorstep is never more than a 10-day turnaround. The quality is absolutely stunning. All printing is done on museum quality, acid free, 100% cotton paper and the inks are archieval and UV resistant for over 150 years. The disadvantage of dealing with a printer in another state is that the one-on-one, face-to-face contact is not there, however Richard Winters and his team do an absolute bang up job. The attention to detail and quality in each print shows the absolute pride in workmanship these guys employ in the process. Billing is simple, shipping is a snap and the final product is stunning. They've got my business.

I know printing is an art in itself and their tones and papers line with my aesthetic so perfectly. That's just the very high quality. Their service is impeccable! Everything is packed with care. Because it was to be used as a memorial for a friend, this makes me so grateful. I would highly recommended American Art Editions and only hope that they stay in business forever!

This is the wrong business for this location, and the owner is ornery, hateful, and downright rude. Many people observed his interaction with me and my daughter, and some said they were offended by his actions. Really, awful place. He's simply a miserable man who has filled the store with approximately 6 dogs and let both his own and the store's cleanliness standards sink to the point where it's become his personal, malodorous fiefdom - customers be damned. I should add that I'm 64 years old, cannot recall ever having experienced such an unpleasant store encounter, and have to admit that I was quite shaken for the rest of the day. I don't write many reviews, and certainly haven't enjoyed writing this one. But I believe this proprietor stands out as one of the worst and that the success of this store is purely due to it's convenient location.
