Admittedly this review is a bit delayed but my friend and I grabbed a churro split from Fernando's during Fiestas!! It was a piping hot day and while we wanted some churros, we thought the promise of ice cream seemed like a great treat. Within a few short minutes, our churro split was ready to go. My friend and I dug in right away. It was soooo good. The vanilla ice cream was a creamy cold counterpart to the hot crispy churros that provided a perfect balance. There was a drizzling of sauce and sprinkles which provided a nice texture and taste to the sundae as well. Overall, this visit to Fernando's was a success! Rush there some people said "best churros in town". Arrived 30 minutes before the closing time. The truck parked behind Rosales restaurant. They are closed. Went back again, in the morning since they said open at 7, still closed. My guess someone just randomly put in business hours on yelp. I think the food is decent, but hours and transparency need improvement. Businesses should not be inconsistent with their advertised times on yelp/maps and then mislead customers by not showing up. It is advertised that certain days they're in sb and certain days they're in Lompoc. Then stick with those days or update your Instagram to reflect the changes. It's exhausting to have to message and chase down just to get some churros. Off a Westside side street... behind Rosale's Mexican Restaurant and Auto Zone... in a vacant parking lot... sits the bright orange Fernando's Churros truck. Bring those bills, henny!! Once you get a whiff of the fresh churro dough blended with cinnamon and sugar, you'll be crunching it like it's hot! Fernando is super sweet and easy going. Once I didn't have cash and his card reader wasn't working--he said to just come back another day to pay him. Doesn't get more trustworthy and local than that! Their truck slogan reads: "PRUEBA--DISFRUTA--REPITE! (Try...Enjoy...Repeat!)". Just like that, you'll be an addict and regular like myself! Oh, heck, he knew I'd be back for my fix. We had Fernando's Churros at our pre-wedding event and they were absolutely incredible! The set-up was a live station and our guests absolutely LOVED the churros. These were the first to go that night (despite being dessert!) and even after working with Fernando's team to have more churros made my husband and I still didn't get a chance to eat them before they were gone! Thanks to my co-worker who arranged delivery to our job I was finally able to try Fernando's churros! I've been dying to try these for the longest time and my wish finally came true. I placed an order for two bags at $5 each thinking they would be in a small brown bag as I've had before; well that wasn't the case with these. They were in a much larger bag and to my surprise the portion was a lot more than I expected! Had I known the portion served was generous I would of only ordered one bag. No complaints at all because these churros were delicious! But if you're the only one that's going to be eating them then one order will be more than enough. The churros were still warm when they arrived and my first bite was heavenly. They were savory, crunchy but still soft inside, it wasn't overly sweet and the sugar coating was just the right amount. By no means are these churros comparable to any that are sold at a fast food restaurant! These are the real deal and once you try these you will forget about those fake churros elsewhere. I recommend you eat these the same day and share with friends because they do not hold up well the day after. I had plenty left over the next day and they were too mushy to eat so I had to toss them out unfortunately. Best churros I've ever had in my life, hands down. Came across this truck about 7 years ago on the Eastside. What a simple, effective concept - who doesn't love a good churro?! The churro is made-to-order and is cooked on the spot. It's a total treat when served to you warm. The soft, crispy dough paired with the cinnamon sugar dusting is a match made in heaven. I enjoy every bite, though can't finish it in one sitting because the bag is so large. At $6, I'd say it's an excellent deal. I know they also serve dipping sauces but haven't tried any yet. You can find the truck parked behind the Rosales Restaurant parking lot on the Eastside. It's not easy to see from the street, but they seem to be open most afternoons. Great Churros, probably the best in the county. My only thing is that they do t have set hours, several times I've gone to Santa Barbara and they are not open. This was one of the worst customer services, I have ever experienced. I ordered the small bag and was asked what flavors did I want, well I didn't want any. I explained I just wanted the cinnamon sugar, I was then told it's only sugar. Well to be honest I have always had a churro with cinnamon sugar. I was told there is no cinnamon only sugar, I finally said just give me whatever, which was an extra cost. I figured my questions were a pain so I made sure I tipped a lot. After waiting for 25 minutes, watching everyone that ordered after me being called, my friend went and asked where the order was and then came the rudest thing I've ever seen... the young woman and man pulled down their masks and began giggling because they had put my order to the side. I can't say I tried the churros because after that I left. I would say the owner needs to be aware of the immaturity of his employees. Was really excited to try this truck. They have 3 ordering options. $6 for 6 pieces, $8 for 8-10 pieces and $10 for 10-12 pieces. A dollar a churro is pretty expensive when they are only half the size of a regular churro. They also had small containers with dipping sauce for $2. The containers weren't even full. I ordered churros to be delivered at 4:30 he messaged at 7:24 (3 hours late) saying he was here. I was outside waiting for him and I sent 6 messages and he was not here. I'm not sure if he was ever planning on delivering but it's safe to say I will never order churros from here again. They are very unprofessional. We had Fernando's Churros come out and serve churros for our wedding of ~120 guests. They came out right on time, and started making the churros. It was a fast turn around with no one waiting but everyone devouring bag after bag of hot tasty sugary bits. It was a show too, with all the guests hanging out watching Fernando make the churros. I did not expect people to be so excited but I still have guests talking about them, asking where they can get more. They were very authentic and so soft on the inside. They made them fresh right in front of everyone, which made it so much fun, especially since we had quite a few kids at our wedding. The only critique I would make is that it was sort of difficult to communicate with them. Definitely follow up with them a couple of weeks before your event to make sure they can still make it and they don't forget. I think if I didn't follow up they might have accidentally forgotten that we booked them, but they did show up right on time and they were quite amazing.
