Paper baggy of crispy churro goodness
    Richie D.

In celebration of Latinx Heritage Month, my sweet tooth couldn't help itself but to share quite the hidden treasure in Santa Barbara: Fernando's Churros. Off a Westside side street... behind Rosale's Mexican Restaurant and Auto Zone... in a vacant parking lot... sits the bright orange Fernando's Churros truck. Bring those bills, henny!! Once you get a whiff of the fresh churro dough blended with cinnamon and sugar, you'll be crunching it like it's hot! Fernando is super sweet and easy going. Once I didn't have cash and his card reader wasn't working--he said to just come back another day to pay him. Doesn't get more trustworthy and local than that! Their truck slogan reads: "PRUEBA--DISFRUTA--REPITE! (Try...Enjoy...Repeat!)". Just like that, you'll be an addict and regular like myself! Oh, heck, he knew I'd be back for my fix. Fernando also does catering for large events (quinceañeras, weddings, etc) with the toppings (chocolate and caramel sauce), plus offers local delivery! Note: Keep in mind that they're there only in Santa Barbara Mondays and Thursdays but travel to Lompoc, Vandenberg and Lompoc the remaining days of the week. Since I'm such a Churro fan, check out where else in Santa Barbara County to get your churro on--though none can triumph Fernando's! https://www.yelp.com/collection/Y3ZRTDE_Iu9CUfDN3Dq4FA?utm_content=Collections&utm_source=ishare

We had Fernando's Churros at our pre-wedding event and they were absolutely incredible! The set-up was a live station and our guests absolutely LOVED the churros. These were the first to go that night (despite being dessert!) and even after working with Fernando's team to have more churros made my husband and I still didn't get a chance to eat them before they were gone! That goes to show how good they were. The team was great at communicating before and during our event and they were very professional. We would highly recommend Fernando's Churros.

Churros are so good you need to get two bags. Unfortunately I'm on a diet, but Fernando knows how to make a cheat day worth it. They are freshly made to order, crisp, yet internally fluffy, coated with a sugar mix. If you see this man, get some!

These churros are LIFE!!! Homemade are the best!

Thanks to my co-worker who arranged delivery to our job I was finally able to try Fernando's churros! I've been dying to try these for the longest time and my wish finally came true. I placed an order for two bags at $5 each thinking they would be in a small brown bag as I've had before; well that wasn't the case with these. They were in a much larger bag and to my surprise the portion was a lot more than I expected! Had I known the portion served was generous I would of only ordered one bag. No complaints at all because these churros were delicious! But if you're the only one that's going to be eating them then one order will be more than enough. The churros were still warm when they arrived and my first bite was heavenly. They were savory, crunchy but still soft inside, it wasn't overly sweet and the sugar coating was just the right amount. By no means are these churros comparable to any that are sold at a fast food restaurant! These are the real deal and once you try these you will forget about those fake churros elsewhere. I recommend you eat these the same day and share with friends because they do not hold up well the day after. I had plenty left over the next day and they were too mushy to eat so I had to toss them out unfortunately. These churros are quite a treat so if you're looking to try something sweet and savory then I highly recommend you check out Fernando's at Rosales Mexican restaurant or give him a call to see where the next location will be as they do pop ups around town!

    Yum!

Best churros I've ever had in my life, hands down. Came across this truck about 7 years ago on the Eastside. What a simple, effective concept - who doesn't love a good churro?! The churro is made-to-order and is cooked on the spot. It's a total treat when served to you warm. The soft, crispy dough paired with the cinnamon sugar dusting is a match made in heaven. I enjoy every bite, though can't finish it in one sitting because the bag is so large. At $6, I'd say it's an excellent deal. I know they also serve dipping sauces but haven't tried any yet. You can find the truck parked behind the Rosales Restaurant parking lot on the Eastside. It's not easy to see from the street, but they seem to be open most afternoons. If you are in this area, you must stop and get a churro for yourself. You will thank me later.

Wedding catered at Klentner Ranch in Carpinteria, CA - Awesome churros & great to work with!

Fernando's Churros served their amazing churros at our wedding in Carpinteria, CA. The family run business was amazing to work with and guests continue to comment on their delicious churros. Thank you so much for working with us and for being such a fun addition to the end of our wedding. I highly recommend working with Fernando's Churros for your next event.

We had Fernando's Churros for our wedding (250 guests) and the churros were to die for! Our wedding was a little over a month ago and we still have people talking about how delicious the churros were! The churros were authentic with cajeta (Mexican caramel)! Maria was responsive and provided clear information. I would definitely hire them for another event!

Best decision ever. We stumbled upon this adorable donut shop, and they had the cutest Valentine's-themed donuts decorated for the day. My daughter immediately chose the chocolate one. I honestly didn't think she'd love it... but she ate the entire thing without hesitation. That says everything. Of course, I grabbed some donut holes for the road -- because that's just tradition at this point -- but the real star? The bagel sandwich. I ordered a jalapeño cheddar bagel with egg, crispy bacon, tomato, red onion, and (because why not?) extra cheddar. It was DIVINE. Hands down the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. Perfectly toasted, flavorful, just the right kick from the jalapeño cheddar -- I'm still thinking about it hours later. I may have to stop again on the way home because I genuinely can't get that taste out of my mind. If you're passing through State Street, do yourself a favor and try this place. Absolute gem.

We also got the Berry Fruit Tart that we nibbled at after the meal, but we were already so full. It was also delicious and will taste great as a late night snack later! Once we got our table in the outdoor seating area, the ambiance was really nice and very downtown Santa Barbara. The selection of pastries and brunch items was amazing with lots of different options. I had the avocado toast with dill cucumbers and eggs, which was beautifully presented and very flavorful. My husband had a croissant sandwich with egg and fillings, which he thought was good, and we also shared a pistachio croissant that we both really liked -- it was thick, generously filled, and delicious. The only small thing was that our coffees arrived about 10 minutes before the food, which isn't ideal for breakfast since I usually like to have them together. But when I mentioned it to the staff, they were very accommodating and kindly held the coffee until the food was ready, which I appreciated. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and the overall atmosphere made for a perfect Sunday brunch. It is a bit on the pricier side, but that's also quite normal for Santa Barbara.
