Carlos does very good work. You will not regret it if you hire him. They are also honest and reasonable.

I was totally disappointed in the shotty work, sloppy pair job, leaving old deck boards under the deck and and returning to put things back.

I spoke with Oscar about replacing my patio cover. I chose another company to do the job, so my…read morereview is only based on my communications with Oscar. First with the good...Oscar was very responsive, which I appreciated. He came out to give me an estimate and was on time. He was very friendly and likeable. My concerns were over his professionalism and high-pressure tactics. First, I wanted the wood painted and he said no and "we are not painters" with a little laugh. He eventually agreed to it. Another concern was that he did not want to put his estimates in writing until the contract was drawn up. He was showing me contracts he had with a couple of his customers pointing out they were $50K and $80K deals. I did not feel comfortable with him showing me other customer's contracts. Multiple times he referred to these deals pointing the dollar amounts, which seemed odd I thought. Here's the final straw. He did not want to leave without a commitment. After he took his measurements, answered all my questions, and gave me multiple estimates, I thanked him and said I would give it some thought, but he didn't want to leave. I tried multiple times, but he just stuck around. It felt very awkward. He told me he would give me a discount if I committed that day. I told him I would let him know by the end of the day. Only three hours later, at 3:30pm, he was texting me asking if I made my decision.

Update 11.16.2022 - I want to reiterate we loved their work but again their communication is just…read morenot great. Here is an example of it; after I wrote my review here is how (text messages) he approached me. Attacking a customers character is never good First off I have to say the work and speed that their crew delivered was great. We love everything that they did for us. We had a number of requests for them to: 1. Build a deck near our pool with cover 2. Replace our fencing to hide the pool equipment 3. New fence towards the back of our property In the photos you can see how great it turned out. Now where they lost their stars is in communication and dealing with conflicts. 1st issue - We had a dumpster provided that they subcontracted and had a number of issues. James gave my husband the phone number to contact dumpster company and "deal with the issue". As a customer all issues pertaining to a subcontractor that THEY hired should have been handled by them and not us. 2nd issue - some of the fence posts they installed warped and we asked for them to come repair. We had to text and call about 10 times! We were given dates that someone would show up and then no one showed up and no communication about 5 times. Continuous calling and text had to occur with the same result. Then random out of the blue one day someone showed up to fix the fence and once again no communication to inform us they were coming nor after to check how the repair went. This process was extremely frustrating and clear that dealing with conflicts isn't their forte.

What a spectacle of a contractor. If you're looking for…read moreexcuses, missing materials, mystery "crews," and a storyline more chaotic than a telenovela, this is your guy. If you're looking for an actual finished project... run. From day one, he had more excuses than a kid skipping homework. Every delay was someone else's fault. According to him, the universe, the schedule, and everything in between sabotaged the job -- while our patience quietly disappeared. We picked out the cabinets we wanted -- color, quality, everything. He showed up with low-quality substitutes that were the wrong color and tried to pass them off anyway. Then claimed he was going to "custom paint" them, despite not having been at the property in over three weeks. Promised his "team" would be there on certain days, then went completely silent. He took half the money upfront and didn't order any of the materials. The only time there was urgency was when he thought he could get more money without doing the work. When we terminated him, he tried to charge us for items he never completed and attempted to change prices that had already been agreed upon. Let's talk about this so-called crew. He had one person doing nearly all the work, and the electrician left the job unfinished, including a large hole in the wall. The place was extremely messy, with no effort made to clean up. Work quality was just as bad. He scuffed and damaged the bathtub he installed, and in the kitchen the walls weren't even skimmed far enough down, leaving an obvious unfinished line. Attention to detail was nonexistent. And then came the final act. After being terminated, he suddenly said he would "settle" for $2,500 if the money was paid the same day (a Friday afternoon). When the lender explained it would take a couple of days, he became aggressive, hung up on her, and made unreasonable threats. That kind of behavior is not how legitimate businesses operate. Save yourself the stress, the delays, and the half-finished work. This contractor is unreliable, unprofessional, and not worth the risk.

Damaged my A/C unit using a cement hauler banging into it, splatters of cement everywhere (they did not cover or try to protect my brick, patio furniture or windows), my lawn and irrigation system. His crew says negative things about him, he doesn't pay them and he took my money with severe damages left behind with promises to repair but never did. He hires crew from TikTok (really??) and treats them terribly plus holds stuff over their head because he did them a favor by hiring them when they could not get a job. I have security videos and emails proving all of the above. The guy is a jerk and uses a woman (Amanda) to go along with him plus a step-son.

If after coming out they decided that they didn't want my business I would've thought the professional thing to do would to just say thanks for the inquiry but this is a project we're not able or willing to do. I've also noticed that it seems when someone gives him a negative review he can't find their information. Just based on his responses if I were a customer considering this company I'd reconsider after looking at his responses doesn't take responsibility for his actions.

While there are aspects of the project that we feel they did a good job with (mainly the pergola), we feel it's important to warn other potential customers of the issues we have experienced working with them. First, this company uses subcontractors, and unfortunately, many times they didn't show up at all to perform the work they were scheduled to do or performed the work incorrectly. This led to significant delays throughout the project and was extremely frustrating. It put us in the position of constantly following up to ensure the work was done and done right. As an example, the concrete steps we asked them to build were initially very narrow and a safety hazard. We asked them to correct that. Our pergola was not built correctly according to the design, and we had to ask them to correct that as well. The railings around the patio were installed incorrectly, and again we had to ask them to correct this. We understood that the stain of the existing patio may never perfectly match the new concrete patio but the colors are not even close. Dominic was our main point of contact with Freedom and was apologetic every time this occurred (which was frequently) and let us know the excuses the subcontractors provided. They did make these corrections, but what I'm not sure Dominic (and Allen) with Freedom understand is that this is absolutely a reflection on their company when they hire subcontractors that either unreliable, incompetent, just "don't care," or all of the above. Unfortunately, they had already stained our concrete steps so when they did fix the prior sloppy work, the stain didn't match the remaining patio. The biggest complaint that we have with them is that once the entire project was complete (in April 2023), within a month the concrete overlay that they had put on our patio to match the extended patio we built (which it never did) started to deteriorate in a section of the patio. (We now know from speaking with others who have knowledge of concrete work that this overlay was not installed correctly from the beginning). We immediately informed them of the issue and 3 months later (after repeated texts) they repaired the section of damaged overlay without restaining. In other words, we had a large white patch of concrete on our brown stained patio for another 2-3 months. Again, after repeated texts and excuses, they finally let us know they would be sending someone out to stain the patched area of concrete. We had asked them to ensure that the patched area matched the remaining concrete and asked them to fix the issue with the entire patio being multiple different shades of stain. To this they asked us to either pay $3800 to correct the poor staining all done on our patio by THEIR contractors or only stain the patched area of concrete for free. We absolutely refuse to pay Freedom more for THEIR work that was not done right to begin with and agreed for them to only stain the patched area (with the expectation that it would, at least, match the existing patio). Of course, it doesn't and looks awful. I included a picture here so you can see how bad this looks. We are now left with a concrete patio that is 4 different shades of brown and is an eyesore. We have texted Allen and Dominic multiple times to ask that they do the right thing and restain our patio so that all of THEIR work is one color. What is very disappointing is they are not even responding to us anymore. There is no sense of wanting to do the right thing for their customer or even taking pride in the work they are doing. It is very disheartening that after trying to be understanding with them throughout all the delays/failures in the project once they got their money they really didn't seem to care. Allan/Dominic/Freedom Outdoor Living, if you are reading this and would like to correct your staining work on our patio and make this right, we would gladly welcome it and be happy to amend this review.
