After having my home leveled I needed my back door (to the backyard) re-aligned/re-framed and decided to install a storm door. I turned to Yelp and saw Phil as the reigning expert on door repairs. I called him to try to set something up and of course he was booked but being already in my neighborhood he said he'd stop by to at least check it out. Phil came by within 15 minutes and assessed the door. He knew exactly what to do so it was easy (in theory bc Bubba aka my house has nothing easy about him) and probably after feeling so bad for me he decided to squeeze my job in. **I will say with Phil you need to be patient because he's a person with a life and has other things going on so be open to waiting a bit. If you aren't patient and want a hurry and rush job don't contact Phil- he's not for you and he doesn't deserve to be treated badly.** Ok so, Phil finally scheduled me and secured an assistant (this was a 2 person job). They took a few days to do the framing and install of my storm door. He encountered some extra work that needed to be done because it wasn't done correctly before. I appreciate that he did the job that needed to be done and did not skimp me. As a single woman I felt safe and confide t with Phil. I'm happy with the job and am so excited to be able to use my back door again and to have a storm door. I contacted Mr. Hernandez and he did agree to come but was very quick to start making excuses that my pipes were brittle and this and that. I have a 10 year old house(just built) so when you come and fix something I would assume you attach and fix everything properly. We had a signed contract for $3,300 in labor to complete a full bathroom remodel in two weeks, with a $50/day penalty for delays and clear availability windows (no Sundays). Before the ink was even dry, he demanded the first payment of $1,100 -- directly contradicting the payment schedule we both signed. His excuse was that he was tired and hadn't read the contract. He then threatened to walk if I didn't pay immediately, so I did. Work progressed okay until it came time to tile. His sub was unavailable for several days with no updates. When he finally got back to me, he said his tile guy could come Saturday and finish Sunday -- a day I explicitly excluded in our contract. After I pointed that out: complete silence. No response to calls or texts. He simply vanished, leaving me with a half-finished bathroom and $1,100 out of pocket, with no explanation of what that payment actually covered. He decided on his own what portion of the work justified that payment and walked away without a word. This is not someone who honors agreements. Mitch's business had all 5 star reviews and he was the first to respond with an agreeable quote so we booked his services. He arrived a couple hours early but was very understanding when I asked if he could return at the agreed upon time so we could be ready for the visit. First, he helped hang the art piece we recently bought at the Oddities and Curiosities expo and wanted to make sure it was hung properly. The wall space we wanted to hang the art piece in did not have a stud, but Mitch had other supplies that would support the weight of it securely. It was hung perfectly and looks great in the space. Next he took a look at another project we had to insulate one of our outside doors. This door is very warped by being exposed to the elements and he was honest in saying aside from replacing the door, any other fix would be more temporary. He gave us advice on what to buy and how to insulate the door ourselves. Had we had the insulation strips he could have included this in his tasks but we only had our old insulation because we were not sure what insulating the door would entail. There is a minimum charge of $85 for any task but confirm when you book. It will cost less if you can pay cash or send the money through Zelle. Mitch was professional and polite the entire experience. I would definitely book him again for future projects if needed.
