After bragging to friends about how good the pecans were, and still are, and after speaking to an owner on the phone and driving to the store, we were met by a new employee who had no clue how to process a mail order. We did go back the next day because we had promised the gift, but again, no owner on site, however someone else who was quite a bit more knowledgeable processed the order

My wife and I love to stop in here on the way home from dinner. We usually get some coffees and Ube…read moreice cream. This place has a lot of items that would be traditionally Filipino (like the Ube). Sometimes prep time can be a little slow, but it's usually only one person on shift when we go, and we are not in any hurry. If you are in a hurry, why stop for a dessert? It's just a small little ice cream spot that happens to also do coffees, some food items, some cakes and macarons. I'm not sure what the people complaining about ambiance were expecting. It's exactly the same ambiance as a cold stone or marble slab. As for the person complaining about not knowing if it was a vampire penguin or not, I get that. They just recently (it is currently around Thanksgiving 2024 for reference) bought acquired the Greenwood vampire penguin so they are in a transition right now regarding that. I think they are going to start having vampire penguin stuff here at this location, or maybe vampire penguin had another location and they'll be moving there... I'm not sure which. But I do understand that complaint. It should be short term.

It comprises of a farm with goats and llamas (goats you can pet, llamas you can view from a distance). There's also peacocks and roosters that roam free. There's also a friendly dog and cat around too. Like cars? There are two beautiful 1930s-era cars in the garage! There are also two shops- one is the soap factory that also sells herbs, and misc health products. The soaps come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are made with goat milk. I left with 3 of them, and will be giving some away as gifts! Next door is the antique shop that also sells ice cream and jams. Upstairs is an AMAZING model train setup, the attention to detail is incredible! 13 years in the making and I'm not surprised. The owners also let club members bring their own trains to put on the track as well. Additionally, there's a train that runs through the farm but it wasn't while we were there. $2.75 per person for the train. If you haven't been, I highly recommend stopping by! So much to see here and the owners are very friendly as well!

We had driven past this place a few times when it wasn't open. I love discovering new BBQ and the…read morebest places are usually only open 2-3 days a week. This one is open Fri-Sun, even though Yelp says it is closed on Sundays. I can't remember about Thursday, will update when we go back and we will go back. I will stop literally every time I drive by it if it is open. It is out in the middle of nowhere. That is usually a good sign. Driving from Greenville home this afternoon, I was looking for it, then zipped past and had to turn around. Pretty sure the pick-up truck behind me wasn't happy with my slow down and turn around. The biggest and only thing you need to know is that this is what we call here 100 mile BBQ. That is BBQ worth driving 100 miles to get and is a high compliment. There are not many 100 mile BBQ places and this one qualifies in a big way. We got stuff to take home and eat, in this case a pound/quart of pulled pork, a pint of collard greens, a pint of Mac and cheese, and a couple cornbread muffins they didn't charge us for, which was a nice gesture on their part, they included a couple containers of their homemade BBQ sauce, the relatively thin vinegar/ketchup style Carolina sauce. They also had mustard based sauce, an Alabama white sauce (mayo, vinegar and some heat), and maybe another choice. I always go for thin Carolina vinegar/ketchup sauces and I make my own (I also make a killer mustard based sauce). Their sauces were all good, so it depends on what your taste is. They use no sauce when smoking their pork and what we got needed no sauce. That is how it should be. I often add some sauce, but this pulled pork doesn't need any. It is fairly coarsely pulled and very moist and you can sure taste the smoke. The Mac and cheese and collards are right up there at the top of my list of sides I have ever had. Collards had some ham and were just unreal good. Mac and cheese was perfect. They had many other sides and all looked good. When we first came in, an older woman was getting a plate. The woman at the counter was super friendly and gave us a rundown of what they had. The older woman told us that everything was good. I think she was right. They add two meats on Sunday's. Things like chicken and dumplings (I LOVE chicken and dumplings), fried chicken, and a couple other things that rotate. I am willing to bet they get a great after church crowd. Next time we go, I know I want to try their hash. After getting home and tasting everything, I wish I had got some hash because I know it will be good. I can stick that in the fridge and make my own rice or cornbread. I took the dog for a quick walk in the back where we passed the smoke shed. Two gentlemen were sitting and chatting and they were minding the pit. It was all wood, I saw zero signs of any gas/propane assistance being used. Use of gas is very common and never results in BBQ that is as good as all wood done properly. These guys know how to make BBQ correctly. We are traveling up and back from Greenville for the next couple weeks for medical reasons. You can be assured that if this place is open, we will stop and stock up. I would totally consider driving up there on a weekend if we are in the mood for a drive in the country and we live 60 miles away. It is that good. I cannot believe there are any lower than 5-star reviews here.
