On the next to last one, we ordered it with all the meats, green bell peppers, onions, banana peppers and extra cheese. No green bell peppers but there was sprinkling or red bell peppers, very few onions and banana peppers and no extra cheese. The one we ordered yesterday was the same toppings request. We got around 16 pcs of green bell pepper, about the same for onion, 8 to 10 banana peppers - but we did get the extra cheese. Both pizza's needed to be in the oven longer as the dough wasn't all the way done. They've gotten very stingy with the toppings so I think we'll get our pizzas elsewhere. It was handy since we don't live too far from them but the value and quality are no longer there.

It is a fun place to visit and I could see this being a main grocery store for those who live nearby. It's worth the 30 minute drive for us, plus some nice countryside to see along the way. The staff is very helpful. The store is now much larger, clean and organized and well kept.

This place is a serious find, completely off the beaten path about a mile off of Highway 25 a few…read moremiles north of Greenwood, South Carolina. The only reason I found out about it is because my National Guard unit just moved from Abbeville to near Hodges and Ware Shoals. I was making up a missed drill. When you do a make-up, you work with one of the full-time folks and go out to lunch if you want. They took me to Godfrey's. Only locals know about it. Godfrey's is a restaurant, as well as a small market with a few really high quality meats, including their own country ham and homemade sausage. It turns out the sausage is made by a retired National Guard guy who I knew. For lunch, I had fried chicken, recommended by my buddies, and fries. The fried chicken was great, the usual southern batter done perfectly. Fries were also cooked properly. You can also get burgers and the usual fare for a walk up lunch counter. There are also typical grocery items you would find at a small market, mostly necessities, it is the only grocery for probably 10 miles or more. Hodges is tiny. But, the real prize is the meats and pimento cheese. The sausage and pimento cheese are both made there fresh. The sausage is exceptional, ground pork, mildly spiced and very lean. The pimento cheese is the best I have ever had, it has some olive and jalapenos that give it a perfect kick. Godfrey's is worth going out of your way to visit. Eat lunch, get 10 pounds of sausage if that much is available and get pimento cheese. If you could freeze pimento cheese, I'd get ten pounds of that, too. If you like country ham, theirs looks good.

Stopped into Nu-Way No 2 as a part of my quest to get a hot dog in every county in South Carolina…read more The folks at Corley's Market had recommend Nu-Way after I went there without realizing their grill wasn't open anymore. Nu-way looks like your standard gas station and convenience store from the outside. Upon entry there are some foods in a warming case and a menu of items on the wall. I asked the cashier if I could get a hot dog. She asked if I wanted it "all the way" and I asked her what that meant here. "Chili, mustard, ketchup, and onions." was her answer. I got mine without onions. She went into the back and it wasn't long before she returned with my dog in a bag. I went back to the car to enjoy it. Overall, A-OK. Good chili, soft bun, nice blend of condiments. Nothing overwhelming but a really solid dog. If you're looking for a hot dog in Greenwood, this is a good place to stop.

My two meals at Refuel did not go very well. Last week, after waiting 20 minutes for my Chicken…read moresandwich in a mostly empty restaurant, it arrived and was very dry. My other dining companions mentioned their meal was very salty. When I informed the wait person about my hockey puck chicken patty, I was offered extra sauce and receive a "sorry". Last night, four of us went for the Monday night wing special. We arrived five minutes after they opened. There were only two other people in the dining area. After our drink order was placed, it started to go downhill. Drinks (mostly iced tea) took 10 minutes to arrive. A second couple arrived and sat behind us. We placed our orders, 3 were for wings and the other for a burger. 35 minutes have passed and the couple who arrived after us received their meal. Now we have been waiting almost 1 hour. One of the staff came over and told us due to the numerous takeout orders, they were behind. We found this strange because we were there minutes after they opened and the other couple had received their meal. After waiting 1 hour, we had enough and were standing up to leave when our meals arrived. The orders were all mixed up and 3 sides were missing. In my last visit, the Mac and Cheese was very good. On this visit, they were cold with cheese shreds sitting on top. They were taken back to the kitchen and microwaved. This turned them into a complete, uneatable pile of mush with a foul-tasting cheese oil slick on top. The owner came over and once again, we heard "sorry" and he used the take-out orders as the excuse. We spoke to the server and told her we wanted them to comp the meals. Off she went to speak with the owner. During this time, the couple sitting behind us were talking and he mentioned he has had his sandwich many times from many places and this one was the worse one he had ever had. The manager came over again and offered to buy us all desert. We thought at least he was trying but when we tried to order any of the 4 different types of cheese cake they offer, we were informed they had been out of them for 3 days. She came back and said we would receive a 15% discount which was an insult due to the food and service. I asked to see the manager again and I talked him into a 50% discount after hearing "sorry" about 8 times and the take-out excuse again. This is the first restaurant I have ever had to barter with the owner over lousy meals. From other reviews, I am glad many other people have had a positive experience, but after giving them a second chance, none of us will be going back.
