I really appreciate the service I received last year while purchasing my sandals. The woman helping in the shoe department was extremely helpful and friendly, and guided me to the appropriate pair of sandals. It's been a year so she made a positive lasting impression. This year I picked up a hat with good coverage for my son's. Along with some souvenirs, my son wanted to bring home for his friends (Truckee stickers). Besides my positive experience, the store seems to have just about everything from grills, too fishing gear amongst other things that you would carry an Ace Hardware store. They also had a nice varying selection of said categories. At the checkout counter there was a younger girl who welcomed me and ready to answer questions, I bought my hat, and I was on my way. The staff is consistently helpful and knowledgeable, and that counts for a lot. Supporting local businesses means keeping our neighbors employed, and I don't take that lightly. But let's talk about the elephant in the room: pricing. I've done the comparisons. Many items here run 2x what you'd pay online -- and increasingly, I'm seeing things priced at 3x the online equivalent. I understand local businesses can't always match the big online retailers, but markups at that level make it genuinely hard to justify shopping here regularly, even when I want to. For my fellow seniors: there's a 10% discount available -- but only one day a week. Here's the thing: we're seniors every single day. To their credit, the other hardware store in our area offers no senior discount at all -- so this place is at least a step ahead there. But a modest everyday discount, even at a lower percentage, would go a long way toward building loyalty with a customer base that shops consistently and values local relationships. It would be worth exploring. I'm not here to organize a boycott -- that's not my style. But I will say this: if the pricing gap keeps widening, more and more of us are drifting to online options, not out of preference, but out of necessity. It's worth noting that seniors are a very different customer base than they were 5 or 10 years ago -- nearly everyone I know has learned to shop online, or has someone who does it for them. For those of us on fixed incomes, finding a better price isn't a luxury, it's a necessity. The goodwill is there. The staff is great. Meet us halfway on the value, and this place could really thrive.

The screws for the replacement pulls didn't clear the width of the drawer. I was finally able to put the way-too-difficult project to rest with help from Linda at A to Z Supply. She took the time not only to find screws the right length, but to notice that the ones that Other Hardware Store sold me were the wrong width as well. Should have shopped local to begin with!

Kudos to this business. I have a Makita electric compressor which I took in because it would not…read morestart. Prior to writing a service ticket, the gentleman who helped me, first took the compressor to an electrical outlet. He turned the knobs and the release switch at the bottom of the unit. Then he started it. Magic, it turned on right away. I had let someone else use my compressor and they had made adjustments to the knobs without my knowledge. Once everything was set correctly, the machine started. Apparently, the tank was already full (that's why it wouldn't come on). Once some of the air was released and there was room, the machine came on. I had to drive 1/2 an hour to get my equipment serviced so it was really nice that I didn't have to leave it and make a return trip to pick it up. They could have just written a ticket and had me leave it but they did a preliminary check first. I learned something new about my compressor and they saved me money and time by fixing my problem in a few minutes. I highly recommend this business for their integrity and customer service. I will definitely return.

I asked them if they had a copy of it and their system doesn't allow for a duplicate. the guy showed me the book they are written in and it showed both original white copy and the duplicate yellow copy used as an original too. he basically said I was out of luck. didn't they have to ring that 100.00 cash into the register as a gift certicate? wouldn't the bookkeeper find the 100.00 difference in the books if it wasn't rung up.
