Manards is a very interesting place among hardware stores. It's seems to have a unique atmosphere…read morethat sets it apart from Lowes and Home Depot. It has to be the only hardware store with mechanical turnstiles. The Bass Pro Shop next door has them too.... and I have no idea why. Aside from the atmosphere, the other thing that makes it interesting is, it's the only place I know of where you can buy drywall, macaroni and cheese, and a spa all in the same building. Seriously.... I can see selling chips, candy, other "snack" foods and various kinds of drinks, but that would be it for me. Some of the checkout lanes for large items are a little odd. They will confuse most people if they never seen them before. The casher actually stands on the same side of the lane as the customer. This makes it easier for them to deal the drywall/lumber and other big stuff. And for all my IT people out there reading this, I noticed that their cash drawers/computers are running Unix or some kind of a Unix emulator. I use Unix where I work and it can sometimes be pain on the IT side if you're not fluent with the command line.

And it's all local, because they get donations from area businesses, residents, etc. to re-sell all sorts of stuff. I saw a huge breadmaker for $10 and across the aisle (really, it's all in a huge unheated warehouse, but I guess it was an aisle) were like 237 concrete smoothing putty knive-things. Upstairs it looked like American pickers for lighting equipment. It was amazing. And then there was a separate building just for furniture and appliances. I saw two old timey fridgerators (Kelvinators, anyone?), they looked like they were brand new, but also kind of pricey. Anyhow, it's a great place to wander around when you get sick of Wal Mart.

I had to press 3 buttons. Lame.] They chose to accept a job from 360Central to take care of my extended warranty dishwasher and showed no interest in actually fixing it. It was clogged (my fault) but the major issue is that one of the sensors was broken and the cycle was stopping and skipping the wash cycle. Once they diagnosed a clog, they were not willing to fix the sensor or even diagnose that there was an issue with it. Here's how the argument went: we have to see the problem, we have to start the dishwasher ourselves. We're not going to sit there waiting for the problem to happen (30 minutes in usually) because we're not being paid for that, we're not interested in seeing a video documenting how the dishwasher is broken. They actually told me they didn't want to spend the time on an extended warranty call (that, remember, they had chosen to accept in the first place.) They never submitted the visit notes to 360Central so they were actually more of a barrier to getting it fixed than anything. PLUS they turned up 35 minutes earlier than they were scheduled to arrive with no notice, apology or concern. A waste of time and rude to boot. Avoid like the plague, there are much better service options in CoMo.

They do not have separate spaces for the used and new items so anything that has been returned with pest could be next to or near a new item and cause contamination. The owners are not driven by wanting to help the customers or community they service but are driven only by how much money they can profit off other people's unfortunate situations.

Placed custom order for front door with sidelight. Month later a delivery guy in a box truck is…read moregoing to attempt to move this huge box crate that happens to be broken, to a 2 foot depth lowering platorm. No dolly...anyone could see it was going to end in disaster, he agreed. So he said he would reschedule with help. Home depot called me, said they would uncrate and redeliver. Next day, same guy comes with 2 other guys. One guy sat in cab of truck, offering no help. Teo guys carried door off truck and my trim which was wrapped separately. Trim is scratched up, hickory brown color scratched off and also hole punched in it. Door itself, hickory brown color scratched off about foot from bottom right of door. I called Home depit, had pictures to send them...they agreed about replacing the trim but in regard to my $3000 door, they had to supposedly talk to vendor about any reimbursement. Then when I called back a week later, oh, waiting to hear back from manager. He said he sent his manager an email. I called back week later, oh, both are on vacation. Waited until back from vacation, no one called me. So I called again to speak w dept manager, John, he said he would talk to his manager and call me this past Saturday...no phone call. I even told him I felt like I was getting the run around...oh no, he wouldn't do that....hmmm. I didn't want to order a new door, it would take a couple months to get it. They are hoping the trim will cover it but still, 3 weeks later, going on4 wks, no new trim received....no follow up phones calls. This is the worst customer care I have ever dealt with and never thought Home Depot would be like this. Extremely disappointed, disgusted. $3000 for a door is a lit. Not to mention a week prior U had received another door, $1000, for our out garage entrance, foot threshold deep scratches. Hickory color that they attempted to cover up with a different brown colored paint, not matching....so bad. Bottom line, I suggedt not buying external doors from Home Depot in Columbia, MO
