Overall the store is very well maintained and fully stocked. More times than not the service is good too. The cashiers are always friendly but the rebate department and workers on the floor can sometimes not be. Their outdoor is fully stocked with beautiful plants. This store has fabulous sales as well. If zero stars were an option it would be no stars at all. I purchased close to a thousand dollars worth of stain and all of my containers were smashed and caved in. I was told my order was placed on a backorder but when I called in to see how long it would be they said my order had been there for two days and I needed to come get it. There was no email or text like they stated I would get. While picking them up no employees had any idea what I was talking about. Even when I showed them the receipt from two weeks before. When in the store to pick up my order the employees didn't know where my order was and I had to run all over the store to find it. had to talk to 4 different employees just to get to my order. worked at this location over 6 months. management in my time here I saw management brush 2 sexual harassment incidents be swept under the rug with no repercussions to the offender. he kept his job and was moved to a different department. my employment was terminated because I asked a rude guest to stop cursing at me in order to help. have never seen a more disrespectful inconsistent place. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service - they truly could care less about their customers. My husband and I had never shopped at Menards before and dropped thousands of dollars on a large renovation project. The store employee ordered us the incorrect materials and then we had to pay an additional delivery fee to have it picked up and returned. Was told 2+ times we would receive a call back from a manager regarding the materials being refunded & never received calls back. Apparently management cares about you just as much as the cashiers do. Offered us absolutely nothing to make the situation right, despite the amount of money we spent and time having to fix the STORE'S ERROR. Needless to say we will not be making the mistake of spending another dollar in this store, and will go back to Home Depot where they stand behind their customer service. Customer service is the worst I have ever experinced in my life! Drove over an hour to this location to purchase several keypad door knobs and the webpage said they had 12 in stock. The knobs were not on sale or any special pricing just normal items to purchase. They had none in stock, so we rang for assistance. After waiting 25 minutes for someone to even show up to assist, they confirmed they had ZERO but offered no apology and refused to offer any substitutions. We recently built a new home and spent at least 30-40 K at mendatds. We will NEVER shop at any location ever again. This store needs some training and people skills. read more

The best home improvement store in Columbia. They have things which solve DIY jobs that you didn't even know you needed to do. After giving up looking for the items; at other stores, I was questing over to complete a project.....I find the solution and then some at Menards. I've learned my lesson and I start at Menards now and save a bunch of time by not wasting time at other stores looking for things those other stores don't even carry. read more

What a huge and wonderful store. It is a combination of all the best at Loews and Home Depot, but wait, it also has a section where you can pick up some snacks before you leave. I admit, it's mostly "man" food, not a low fat item in sight, but it would sure fulfill the request to pick up something quick before you go home. Or how about that Bourbon BBQ sauce you want to slather on the ribs while you work in the garage on a project. Yeah. Man Food for manly men. read more

Who knew you could put a grocery store and home depot under one roof by cramming them together like they were a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! Not sure what to think of this place cuz its weird... Best store of its type in Columbia. It has a huge selection and a friendly helpful staff. The other stores of this type such as Lowe's and Home Depot do not compete when it comes to service. You could die waiting for someone to help you in the flooring section of Lowe's or Home Depot, and I'm not exaggerating. In Menard's it's easy to get help, and they know what they are doing. For me the Menard's is the least convenient in terms of location by far, but I am willing to make the drive because it is the best. The prices are the best as well. read more

Menards wasn't a bad place to get materials until they remodeled, now the contractor desk is all the way at the back of the store, put lumber in second floor bins where it's hard to access and to the point the employees don't even know where it's at. I have also discovered Menards to be selling out of date and salvage materials, for instance flooring, if there is not enough they can't get you anymore so if your doing a project make sure you get enough the first time because if it sells out your not getting anymore. In they're grocery section 75% is the same, left over inventory from other stores or salvage, there is also no name brand power tools just they're made in China house brand that is priced like name brand, I was going to but a what I thought was a good deal battery drill but discovered the battery and charger didn't come with it and both were sold separately. Constantly disappointed and finally quit going there. read more

Manards is a very interesting place among hardware stores. It's seems to have a unique atmosphere that sets it apart from Lowes and Home Depot. It has to be the only hardware store with mechanical turnstiles. The Bass Pro Shop next door has them too.... and I have no idea why. Aside from the atmosphere, the other thing that makes it interesting is, it's the only place I know of where you can buy drywall, macaroni and cheese, and a spa all in the same building. Seriously.... I can see selling chips, candy, other "snack" foods and various kinds of drinks, but that would be it for me. Some of the checkout lanes for large items are a little odd. They will confuse most people if they never seen them before. The casher actually stands on the same side of the lane as the customer. This makes it easier for them to deal the drywall/lumber and other big stuff. And for all my IT people out there reading this, I noticed that their cash drawers/computers are running Unix or some kind of a Unix emulator. I use Unix where I work and it can sometimes be pain on the IT side if you're not fluent with the command line. read more

This Columbia Mo store has everything you want...but good luck getting any help from employees or any discounts for extra trips for damaged/missing merchandise. We purchased a loveseat with the heat and massage feature, got it home only to discover the power cords were not there. Called the store, let them know drove a half an hour one way AGAIN, only to have the person we talked to on the phone try to tell us we only need one cord, but we knew we needed two. My husband showed him on the floor model and he did give us the other cord. Most recently we purchased a tool box for my husbands work, only to discover the top unit was damaged. Another trip to Menard's to exchange the damaged unit. After going inside and asking where to bring the damaged unit (which no employees offered to assist my husband), we unloaded the unit ourselves onto a cart, he took it in and also retrieved the new unit himself . You would think some kind of discount/store credit would be offered for our inconveniences/wasted gas and time...Maybe the menard's in jeff city will be better. read more

I recently went to the store in Columbia Missouri with the intention of buying 40 bags of mulch. I was dismayed to see that they no longer had an exterior entrance to the garden department. I could not see myself dragging 40 bags of mulch from the garden department through the store to the checkouts. I was then told that if I went to a separate desk and told him what I wanted they would give me a ticket and then go to the cashier to pay and I could then go to the pick up area around back then get my mulch. Obviously I left Menard's and went to Lowe's and purchased my mulch. At Lowe's, I went to the garden department and paid for my mulch. The worker then loaded the bags of mulch into the back of my truck and I left. Pretty simple. I'm not sure why they thought closing off the garden department would be a service for the customers. read more

I give NO stars here because they don't deserve ANY!!!!! We bought a snow thrower on 11-28-11 & this is 1-2-2013 up to this time we had no snow in which to use it!!!! So we started it a few times to make sure it was OK now we have snow & it WILL NOT START!!!!!!! The store WILL NOT TAKE this $500 snow thrower back I personally talked to the assistant store manager now tell me what do any of you all think of this??? This is a warning to all do not buy a gas powered item cause if you do whether you have used it or not if you put gas in you cannot take it back & we live 30 miles one way from this store!~!!!! We are in our 70's & cannot get this item on our truck all are neighbors are working so we are just SOL sad to say(:(:(:(:(:(: Now I had to rate at least one star to complete this review What do you think of that? read more

BUYER BEWARE ,yes it is a nice store and in a great location , but that is where it stops. Try to find help , there rebate is a in store credit type . I bought a wall oven it had to be orded in , no big deal but before i wrote the check i ask the sales person the final CASH price with the 11% rebate and before tax we agreed . what great deal until a co worker of mine told me that the rebate was not cash or debit card thar could be used any place but a nenards credit that i was not interested in . Thats where the fun starts . the mgr. staff was rude and when i ask how to get hold of corperate i was told to go on line they could not connect me . I emailed corperate i got a so sorry responce, well i'll go in friday a ask for my money back and see how that goes the check has cleared but there policy is to wait 6 days i can do that and i understand what i can't understand is not being told how the rebate worked I missed a sale at another place. read more
