We started out some time ago with another fence company that I won't name, they came out and gave us a bid/estimate then we didn't hear from them for some time. I was driving down State Street in Lindon and saw this fence company, I gave them a call within a day they had scheduled an estimate ($200.00 above other company). However because they were so close and I could actually see the product we decided to go with them. We went into sign the contract and pay for the fence Michelle said it could be 2-3weeks before they could start. This was on a Monday, Tuesday she called asked if they could install the fence post on Friday that same week. The guys came out and bam post were in! Said it would be at least a week for post to set. About three weeks they came out and put in the fence slats. They told me the gates would be a little longer because the gate guys were bogged down. One week later the gates were in! read more

If I could give 1/2 stars, I would. I purchased a fence from this company 2 years ago. They were very quick to come and give an estimate and quicker to accept payment. After 6 months the post for the opening gate became loose. I opened that gate once a week, so it was NOT usual wear. I contacted Jeremy, the original manager and he came out a few weeks later to fix it. 3 months later--Fence came loose again. This time I saw a few washers emerge under the post. I texted Jeremy since he didn't answer his phone calls nor return them--he came out and "repaired" the fence again. 4 months later--Fence came loose again. I texted Jeremy, no response. I went to the store location in person to talk to the owner--Tim Clyde? He said he'd come out to fix it in October 2020. No result. I went back to the store. No one there but a rude receptionist. What a trash company. Called for a simple bid on a wood fence. Transferred to owner. Started explaining what happened with my wife and his bidder, owner Tim immediately started calling her a liar. Tim escalated the phone call, to the point where I told him to eff himself and hung up. I got as far as someone coming out to my home to do a bid. I was given a timeline of 12-14 weeks out (because COVID--understandable) to start the project, a ballpark estimate and told I would receive an official bid via email. After a week, I reached out to both their receptionist Michelle and their bidder Hunter because I hadn't heard back from them. I reached out multiple times via phone, voicemail, text and email requesting an official bid and could never reach anyone again. It's frustrating that I lost 3 weeks waiting on them. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a company. We were anxious to get a fence put up but had to be out of town when they put it up. I was concerned that would be a problem but they assured me it wouldn't be. We returned to find they had moved the fence line way up from where we had expected it to be butchering our mature fruit trees in the process. The foreman apologized and said the guy who did it was new and shouldn't have cut anything. When we tried to talk to the owner about at least compensating us for the lost trees he said he wanted to come look at the trees and then responded "Hell no!" It was such a frustrating experience. There are also gaps in the fence. Still so sad and angry every time I see the fence. The Fence Specialist owner is a pompous sociopath. The price seemed reasonable but was not worth the product and damage as well as the bad experience interacting with the big boss man. I am really not the person that likes to leave bad reviews. Unfortunately, my social conciousness compells me to share my bad experience so people might not suffer my similar fate. The price of these contractors was slightly more expensive than some of the other bids I received, but I thought I would go for quality over savings. They were extremely responsive and prompt in returning phone calls and listening to my requests until I gave them a half-price down payment. After that it became a very disappointing experience. *The contractors and office staff required numerous phone calls to get back to us regarding scheduling, performance questions and other contact. *The contractors almost never came within the already gigantic windows of time they gave themselves to come. *The contractors left substantial messes every time they left. *The project took longer than twice the assured time they said it would. *The fence is still quite wobbly in some places. *They didn't even glue on the top caps of the fence posts, and with the first wind of the fall, they blew off, and now I can't even find one of them. read more

They always said it was an installers issue? They provided the installation. After a YEAR of being ignored I had to take things into my own hands. Initially I was very happy with the company. They came right out, gave me a bid. The sales guy was easy to work with. I paid in full, they gave me a discount. It's been nothing but frustration since then! I was told my fence would be installed the 13th of May. Still waiting! The installers came on the 21st put in posts all wrong. When I arrived home they told me I was wrong! Finally got the posts in right and am still waiting for the rest of my fence. I have called numerous times and just don't seem to get any where. My 92 year old grandmother was taken advantage by this company and had we not gone to the bank to cancel payment, these thieves Would have taken over 3000 dollars from her with no intent to do the job (no contract was signed). They then threatened her with collections if she didn't pay the 40$ transfer fee from their bank, which was paid just to get them to stop harassing her. I would give zero stars if this was an option. We had our fence installed almost two years ago. Within a month of being installed half of the fence fell over. They did not secure the posts deep enough and they came right out of the ground. The company never secured the caps on the posts either, so they blew off. I have called about once a month and they always say they will talk to their service guy. Nothing happens. No one ever contacts me back, ever. The company was very strict that we pay them in full right when it was installed but they don't have the same curiosity for their clients. This company charges much more than competitors. We only went with them because our neighbors arranged it and we were just paying half of the adjoining fence. read more

Brought Fence Specialist out at the beginning of December for a quote and was initially impressed by their punctuality and professionalism. I was told that timing was looking like mid December for a start time. I paid 75% cash up front to secure my time and get the cheaper cash price. Mid-December came and went. I received an email saying that it was going to be mid January before my project was started. I tried calling and emailing to discuss the changed date and received no reply to either. Finally in January I hear back with an apology and a new timing for start. Almost a week after the new promised date the project was started, only to be halted because I was told the installer didn't want to do the job because the ground was frozen (it is winter). A new installer was then brought on, who finished all of the posts except one that needs to be core drilled. It is now February 7. I was told my fence would be complete this week...I have seen nobody. Communication with this company is horrible. I can't speak for the finished product because I am still waiting. NOT FENCE SPECIALISTS! I don't know where to start! Do yourself a favor and do NOT use these guys. First they offer a discount if you pay up front and we thought that was worth the discount but should of know better than to pay before the project is done. They kept pushing our fence install date 3-4 times. Then when they finally started the fence there was one guy that came every other day. We had to contact them everyday to see where they were at and when they would be coming next. The customer service is joke if you call the office the receptionist takes a message and says they will contact us. Which usually took a few days or longer to hear back. Then he installed our gate wrong and asked if it was ok when it was obviously the wrong fit. That added another week. Then Once we finally got him back to finish that gates he installed the hardware wrong and the holes for the gate only had a 3-4. Inch tube barely pushed into the ground to lock the gate. We were so frustrated with everything we gave up and just dealt with the crap job. My husband had to go around and pack the dirt down in the fence holes. The fence specialists did the bare minimum to get the fence installed. Then our gate broke by being blown open since it couldn't lock correctly and broke the gate. We have been trying to contact them all week. They finally Started texting my husband today and saying it will cost us too fix it. It is still under warranty and it broke because of their crappy install of the gates and latches are upside down we discovered recently. Their product (vinyl) has held up wonderfully! No cracking, warping or fading. They installed the fence completely level. It looks very professional and appealing. (One star is generous)--We went with this organization for yard fencing because our neighbor worked there. From the initial install our gate hung crooked and the latch stuck. We reported it and no action has taken; our neighbor only sold and not installed the product. After four phone calls and an email an office person finally called back and said someone would be out to look at our gate soon. Now we find out the neighbor is no longer working there (his choice) and I can see why. Three weeks later and more calls, no action. We regret using the company and do not recommend their services until there is new management and they learn customer service skills. They say that people only take the time to leave a review if their experience was negative... Not this time! I will start by saying I am not family/friends with anyone at Fence Specialist. I moved here from AZ and got a few bids. They showed up on time for the bid, gave me a GREAT deal as I saved about 2k from other bids. Jeremy became my account rep, and because of rock wall issues, landscaping and neighbor retaining wall issues, I had to reschedule so many times I lost count. I started worrying that I was being annoying, but Jeremy just kept telling me it was ok. They ALWAYS did exactly what they said they would, and were ALWAYS on time! My yard had unique sloping and they installed it to look better than I had even anticipated. We have a HUGE dog and we were concerned with how sturdy a vinyl fence would be as i had read reviews that the install mattered a lot. Our fence is solid, looks awesome, and best of all, we feel like we got a great deal. Finally, I had one minor request after they were done, and they didn't flinch- they just came over and added a small portion where they didn't have to just to make sure I was 100% satisfied. I recommend these guys to anyone! I can't understand the bad reviews at all- the fence specialists will save you money and make sure you are happy! read more

BUYER BEWARE!!!! If you are looking to have a fence installed, Fence Specialist should not be your choice. Why, you ask? They do not stand behind their product or the installation. Both the owner Jeff, and Brady Hansen, the estimator, have a serious problem with the truth. Then there is the elusive installer who also has a problem with the truth, and mysteriously disappears. I have come in contact with shady companies in the past, but this business is high on my list of places one should avoid at all cost. Before my fence was to be installed, I walked the property with Brady, pointing out the areas of concern, and how those areas would be mitigated before the fence would be installed. After fill was used to build up an area, I had Brady come to the house to make sure all was ok for before the installation. There was not one word that there was going to be a problem. What I didn't know was the fence was installed a good foot in from where it was supposed to be without saying a word to me beforehand. Like I did with Brady, I had walked the yard with the installer before he began the installation, and he knew exactly where the fence was to go. For months I was strung along by Brady that they were going to fix the fence, and in a conversation with my son, it was only going to be fixed if more money was paid to the lousy installer as he was not going to work for nothing. I even went to the office and spoke with Jeff, who at first pretended to not know me. He came to my house and told me he would get right back to me after he called the installer, and the fence would be fixed. Of course that never happened. His defense is this is a landscape issue, well duh, any fence that comes in contact with dirt or grass is going to deal with landscape. I could go on and on with all the lies from these two, but there isn't enough space to tell the whole of my experience. Now I will admit that the fence itself looks great and was installed quickly... my issue is with the fact that apparently in the contract that we signed (in the super fine print) that state "we will not be responsible for removing any dirt taken from digging out fence posts" wait... really!? What kind of bullshit policy is that? So what they did was dig up all the dirt, and then proceeded to make one massive pile and another small pile right on my my freshly weeded and landscaped yard for us to somehow dispose of... good thing I have a family mini van and because I can just throw that dirt right over my kids car seats. I'm sure they won't mind. The worst part? Is they decided it was ok to leave 5 piles of dirt on my neighbors lawn!! (See attached picture) so now I have to go out and clean up the dirt off my neighbors lawn because these jackasses thought that was a good spot to put it. I can deal with putting it in my yard, but not my neighbors yard! The response when I asked him if he was cleaning it up? "We don't remove the dirt, if we did we would just have a big pile of dirt" Jesus, this kid is half retarded. I do not recommend them and will never use them again. They also decided to slap two of their company stickers right on the side of my brand new fence, which I promptly ripped off and threw away. read more

They installed my fence and did not do what I asked, the workers had no clue what the job was, destroyed my raspberry bushes, threw the dirt all over my woodchips, which cost me more money to fix.and expected someone from my house to tell the workers what to do. I'm surprised by the negative reviews here because I had a great experience with these guys. The salesperson I spoke with was quick to get back to me with estimates. The bid was also well below two other bids I received for the exact same aluminum fence, so I took my chances despite some negative reviews and went with them and I'm so glad I did! They told me they were six weeks out and sure enough, six weeks after I signed the contract they showed up to install (although a phone call a few days in advance would have been nice--I was literally walking out the door for a week long trip when the guy showed up). Anyway, the installers were professional and did a fantastic job. My fence looks better than many of the other fences in the neighborhood--others are crooked and uneven but mine looks perfect. Give these guys a chance, they were great, and I saved a boatload of money by going with them. It might help to just follow up and communicate with them to make sure you have a good experience. read more
