Got our estimate, paid the deposit and waited. And waited. And messaged, and waited. After 6 weeks of no update, I learn our color choice was backordered and nobody knew/told us (we would have chosen another color because our dog was getting hurt!). Figured out that delay, then, "any day now". Another two weeks, many reminders and nagging texts (I hate nagging contractors, I would rather they just do their job). Finally texted to cancel our contract and get our money back, and surprise! Our fence was ready to install. Installer finally came and was a hard worker, but the post they sent has exposed edges and didn't accept the hardware correctly. The hinges didn't really self-close so we asked for them to adjust them. The install manager came to "adjust" them but it still never closed by itself. A year+ later, the gates are warped and the hinges are garbage. They were supposed to be self-closing, but they are way too light duty for the weight of the gate. Not only are they not self-closing, but you can't even swing the gate closed because it's out of balance and just swings itself back open again. The gate is so heavy and out of plumb, it needs to be pushed closed to latch every time. Messaged about getting hinges replaced under warranty, in May, about 3 months before our warranty ran out. Of course I was given another run-around answer that the manufacturer is designing better hinges and can we wait for those? I asked for that to be emailed in writing, so we would still have the hinges covered under warranty. Last messaged received May 12th, it's now Sept 16th. Nope, never got an email nor hinges. Not holding my breath, although I expect they will amazingly show up with hinges as soon as this review posts. Two stars instead of one because the gates are still standing.

I called and had them come out for an estimate last Tuesday. The guy spent about three minutes at…read moremy home. I measured the area prior to him coming and also had a few other bids. My measurements and the other companies all had 123 total feet of fencing. I asked this guy what his measurements were and he hesitated and told me "about 130 feet." Then he said he would email me a bid in about two days. Two days went by and no email. I called Friday morning and asked about my estimate and the lady on the phone took my info, confirmed my email and said I would have the email with the estimate no later than 5 pm that day. It is now Tuesday, a week later. Even companies who have come out after them have already given me all their estimates. The moral of the story is, these guys don't care about your time. They're not honest in any of their dealings with me either. Go with someone else. We certainly will be.

I hired Alpine Fence & Deck last month to perform a full recondition of my two redwood decks here…read morebehind my home in Sandy. The former owner of Alpine Fence & Deck had just apparently sold the business to the new owner, Chandler, and they kept the price fixed from their August 2022 quote. This was for the usual inspection, pressure washing, sanding, rotten wood replacement, correction & reinforcement of loose wood and railing, a final sanding, and then full staining (using Sherwin-Williams "SuperDeck" semi-transparent deck stain) of the top surfaces AND all underside surfaces (which had never been stained before.) I wanted the underside done this time to properly seal off all the wood surfaces, and yes it cost me more money, but I'll never have to futz with it again. My wife and I picked a rich dark charcoal color instead of the usual redwood color. This dark color uses blue, magenta, and deep gold tints to get this darker hue which - after it was applied - we were very happy with. Alpine Fence & Deck provided all of the stain as part of the quote...and left us with a full unopened gallon for our use. Chandler and his assistant Eliza spent a number of days working the deck in the cooler temps of June and overall we are happy with the effort. Chandler asked me multiple times to check his work and bring to his attention anything he missed or I wanted to be changed. Chandler fixed multiple floorboards and the one wobbly railing, and it all turned out OK. I think the extra effort on the underside paid off but was additional labor that kinda' beat up Chandler and Eliza as no doubt it was exhausting work. Suffice it to say the underside should have been sprayed instead of rolled/brushed as there are visible gaps in the stain that I will ask Chandler to address once this post goes live here on Yelp and Google. I would recommend Alpine Fence and Deck and always suggest that the consumer get everything in writing (like I did with Chandler's electronic quotes) and confirm that Chandler and his team will revisit us next spring and perform some post-winter touch-ups at no cost to us. It turns out that the initial estimate for our deck was missing some of the things that we wanted and that we thought were included in the estimate but were not. That is my fault for not examining the line items in the estimate closely. So as the project progressed, we were adding things that we wanted all the time. The prices they gave us for materials were more than fair, the quality of the craftsmanship were excellent, it just turned out costing more than we had initially anticipated and taking longer. So make sure that you know that the price they are quoting you contains everything that you want and you'll be happy. Thanks to the owner Chad for making sure everything turned out right in the end.
