The owner is correct, they ended up not charging me for the repair due to how poorly it was initially installed.

I reached out to four gate companies for estimates on replacing my 6' x 100' fence. Straight forward for three of them to send a quote promptly. I'm guessing they all charge by the foot (materials/installation). Not one of the three cared about property prices in my area of town and quoted accordingly. Then you get to Fence Geeks. They first ask for address. I thought I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not out to overcharge based on my neighborhood but rather need an area to know distance from them, etc. Not my first rodeo. Gave them area of central houston. Oh no. That won't work for Fence Geeks. That above-board way of estimating is for those other chump fence companies. Fence Geeks need the exact address of your house. Remember this is a REPLACEMENT so not worries about restrictions, etc. By now Its quite obvious that their estimate will be different if I need a fence in River Oaks or, say, the Fifth Ward as they wrote back AGAIN requiring an ADDRESS before they could give an estimate. Yeah right. How dumb do they think people are? Too many good fence companies In Houston and I have estimates for fence replacement of three. I would avoid these predatory shysters like the plague. read more

This is the third time I have hired Fence Geeks. The first time they built and installed a steel railing on a arched balcony on the inside of the house. Second time they raised my wrought iron entry gate that was dragging the ground. This time, they installed a Liftmaster gate opener on that same gate that I purchased online. I ordered a fence and gate, the price was good and the quality of the both looked good BUT ONLY FOR AWHILE. Both items, 6-months old, are rusting all over. Very poor quality paint or they didn't bother to prime the work first. I called and was told they would get back to me, NEVER DID. I called again and they told me they would call back to schedule an appointment, NOPE DIDN'T CALL BACK. Update: The owner called me after seeing this review to make thing right. FenceGeeks came out and repainted the fence AND IT LOOKS GREAT. They sanded the rust spots, primed all the rust areas, cover the area with plastic to shield off the house and finally painted the fence with a professional paint gun and it look GREAT way better then when fencegeeks delivered and installed it. Jon Henry came out promptly to give an estimate on our fence replacement many of the other company's we contacted simply priced our job over the phone without seeing it not fence geeks Jon took notes, answered all my questions, and he & his crew went above and beyond our expectations when it came to our gate which I needed extra wide for future home projects. Living in a city that does not require licensing to be a contractor make's it (EXTREMELY DIFFICULT) to find someone who will do what they say & do it right the first time. I was able to join Angie's list at a reduced rate thru our Allstate insurance and WOW, I'm glad I did. Our wood fence I believe to be to original structure when the house was built in 1982 needed replacing, after looking thru Angie's list we received 5 bids ranging from a high of just under $5ooo to a low of $1800 for 90 Lin ft, from habit I usually never pick the highest bid or the lowest. We decided to go with Fence GEEKS as they had a special at the time and I'm glad we did TOP NOTCH work, communication, and a great price. From their website they specialize in Iron works (Done Deal Iron Works) but fortunate for me they also are masters with wood. I'm not a carpenter but I can tell the difference between good & bad work and Fence GEEKS did a fantastic job, if our iron gate needs replacing I know who to call.
