There will be people walking in the water. Be careful if you are walking through the water. Also, there are giant rocks and logs to sit on. I feel like Tiffany Falls is somewhere you go in the autumn. You would see the leaves being colors. There's a small fee enter (around $11/vehicle). It's done through a park kisok. You can use the same parking ticket at Sherman Falls within around 2 hours or so. The price not too bad for vehicle with at least 3 people. The parking area is really small. If you visit in the afternoon, you are going to wait a bit or park at Sherman Falls and walk (around 20 min) to Tiffany Falls. There isn't really a closer relatively larger parking lot.

I was here in July so nothing frozen and no fall colors but still magnificent. a 21 meter (64 foot) cascade roars away. The path through the woods is very well marked and easy to follow up it's clear that some folks think it's okay to wander off the path. I stuck to the route and the observation platform. Partly because I'm a rule follow and partly because I'm the clumsy sort that would fall and hurt myself. Leave only footprints, take only photos. Love Canal's history is thick and ugly. You can do a quick google search if you want to read all about it, but I'll give a summary: Originally intended to be the "perfect urban area," William T. Love purchased the land and quickly abandoned his project in the span of ten years. After that the area became a landfill. Hooker Chemical eventually comes along and purchases the land in 1947, and proceeds to dump all sorts of chemical waste into the canal. Something like 21,800 tons of chemicals would sit in the canal as Niagara Falls entered a population boom. So, the Niagara Falls School Board approached Hooker Chemical, acquired the land they were dumping wastes into, and had two schools (93rd Street & 99th Street) built, along with low-income family residences. Construction would drill into the chemical drums buried here, and toxic wastes would escape when rainwater washed through them. Twenty or so years later, Lois Gibbs is a local mother who is concerned for her son's poor health, learns that her and her neighbors' homes are built atop chemical waste. She faced many barriers in attempts to expose the awful conditions in which they were living (ignored by city officials, even the mayor stated there was nothing wrong). Eventually Jimmy Carter declared a federal health emergency and sent officials to remedy the site. At that point the 99th street school had been demolished. Hooker Chemical & the school board refused to accept liability. The federal government eventually had residents relocated, and demolished most of the homes on the land. Today, Love Canal is a grim reminder of what costs we pay when dealing with chemical companies, and that it's important to know your history. The area is essentially a ghost town, with a small handful of homes still standing (some families refused to move during the evacuation). This place is creepy. Recently I decided to take a little drive through the area, and a couple of the streets have road blocks that prevent you from driving down them. You can drive down 100th St. (a completely barren road), turn down Wheatfield Ave and check out the couple of houses that still stand on 101st St. (that's what I did). The space that I assume was the dump site seems to be completely fenced off. Frankly, I think I prefer to stay outside of that fence. Day 15

Following the address on Google, I ended up parking at Cliffview Park (free lot), walking down a flight of metal stairs, cutting through another parking lot, then a golf course, and through a fence to the falls. I believe you can also park at the bottom of the metal staircase, but I'm not sure if that lot is for club members only. Once you climb through the cut fence, it's a matter of navigating through scattered rocks and boulders along a stream, straight to the waterfall. Rocks can be loose or slippery, so wear the proper footwear. Do not wear your nice, new, white runners 'cause the surrounding area is full of red clay, so your pants/shoes will get dirty. Waterfall wasn't at full stream when I went, but it was pretty and relaxing. Hike not for people with young children or strollers, so keep that in mind!

Absolutely spectacular!…read more The Canadian side of Niagara Falls offers the most complete and dramatic views of both Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls, and the smaller Bridal Falls, so i highly recommend spending more time in Canada if possible. There are so many options here. You can walk along the Niagara Parkway from Table Rock Centre through Queen Victoria Park. The views constantly change and the walk provides some of the best photo opportunities. You can opt for the Journey Behind the Falls to stand in tunnels carved behind the rushing water, or take the cruise -- which I strongly recommend. A ride on Hornblower Niagara Cruises is one of the most memorable experiences in Niagara Falls. The provided poncho helps, but you should still expect to get drenched on any exposed areas as the boat approaches the base of falls. It felt like a monsoon! Also, be prepared for substantial parking charges. $30 for 30 minutes -- outrageous! I also suggest making time to see the falls after dark. The nightly illumination creates an entirely different experience, and on fireworks nights (around 10 p.m. beginning in May) it is quite the spectacle. Bring a light jacket or sweater even during summer. The constant mist and evening breezes near the falls can make temperatures feel noticeably cooler than elsewhere in the city. And drive north along the Niagara Parkway toward Niagara-on-the-Lake if time allows. The route follows the river through attractive landscapes and historic sites.

There was a shout, by me, when I darned near fell over after slipping on one of the loose rocks, but no screaming and no ghosts. The tunnel was built not so much as a path for cars or horses but as drainage to keep the tracks above from being dislodged by flood waters. And on the other side, the Bruce Trail continues which was the destination for a pack of offroad dirt bikers who went past just as I arrived. There is a cul-de-sac at the end of the road.
