I've been wanting to visit Niagara Falls for years so when we were in Buffalo for a wedding, we made it a priority to visit. We decided to visit the Canada side just so I can say I've been to Canada. The falls themselves are breathtaking. There really is not a bad spot to look at. They also offer different tours. We decided to do the underground tour where we got to see the inside of the falls. It was a little on the pricey side but it was so worth it. What surprised me the most about Niagara Falls is it has an entertainment district. There were numerous restaurants, arcades, mini golf and even a Burger King with a roller coaster attached to it. We thought we would spend maybe an hour or 2 here but we ended up spending the entire day there.

Well, I can see why everyone says you have to visit Niagara Falls, you just do! It's been on the bucket list for some time, so when a friend suggested we play hooky from our conference for the day and take the families to the falls, I'm glad I was game. We took a tour bus from the hotel, which worked out nicely. Our driver had our tickets to go down under the falls and tickets for the boat ride to the base, both were fun and worthwhile experiences. The falls are definitely incredible. The volume of rushing water is a sight to see and there are several interactive attractions to explore it and the history. This impressive natural wonder is not to be missed, and I'm really happy we chose to experience it from the Canadian side.

If you want the best view of Niagara Falls, the Canadian side is where it's at. The sweeping panoramas are unmatched--you can take in the full Horseshoe Falls in all its power and beauty, something you just don't get on the U.S. side. That said, each side has its unique experiences. The U.S. has the Maid of the Mist, which is now fully electric--quiet, smooth, and no exhaust fumes. In comparison, Canada's Hornblower is still diesel-powered, and you do notice the exhaust at times. Hopefully, they'll upgrade soon. For attractions, I have to say the Cave of the Winds on the U.S. side absolutely blew me away. Standing right at the base of the Falls, feeling the thunder and spray surround you--it's an experience that sticks with you for life. Canada's "Behind the Falls" sounded promising, but it was underwhelming by comparison: more like damp tunnels with a limited view rather than the up-close immersion I was hoping for. Still, if you want those iconic postcard-worthy views, Canada wins hands down. Pair it with a walk along the promenade, the vibrant city vibe, and plenty of great dining, and it's absolutely worth the trip. Both sides are special in their own way, but for the view alone, the Canadian side deserves five stars.

Had the absolute best time here recently! As a native Miamian, I'm in awe anytime I see mountains, autumn leaves, waterfalls, or forests... it feels like another planet to me. My boyfriend, who lives in Toronto, brought me here, and we had the time of our lives. We were like two wild, excited kids exploring every corner of this incredible park. From the breathtaking scenic walks to the spectacular "Journey Behind the Falls" and the unreal "Niagara Takes Flight", everything was pure magic. What moved me most was the care and reverence given to the Indigenous communities who once inhabited the area. Their stories and legends were honored and brought to life so beautifully that I actually teared up. The park is exceptional; thoughtfully designed, full of wonder, and truly unforgettable. I loved every minute of it & will definitely be back!

Niagara Falls is made up of three waterfalls, American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls, and is located in both New York in the United States and Ontario, Canada. The falls were formed approximately 12,000 years ago during the last Ice Age, when melting glaciers created the Great Lakes and the Niagara River. These falls are made up of water from four of the five Great Lakes (Superior, Michigan, Huron and Erie), which drain into the Niagara River, forming the falls, which then flows into Lake Ontario. Both Bridal Veil Falls and American Falls are located on the US side of Niagara Falls, while Horseshoe Falls (also called Canadian Falls), is located on the border of the US and Canada, with the majority of the falls being in Canada. Horseshoe Falls is the largest of the three falls and arguably the most iconic and while we have read a variety of numbers about its size, it's around 167 feet tall and the crestline is around 2,500 feet wide. And during peak flow, almost 700,000 gallons pour over it per second!

How anyone could give this natural wonder of the ages less than five stars? Surprisingly, it's not one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, which I googled. Well, it ought to be the Eighth at least. Be prepared to be amazed. Be prepared to get sprayed by the mist just walking along the promenade towards the Horse Shoe Falls, the biggest of the three. Definitely watch from the Canadien side! They have a fireworks display every night, not to be missed! Yes, it is always crowded but not as much during the week vs weekend. Not sure how it is during the colder months though... Summer is probably best. Finally checked off my list. On to our favorite (Niagara-on-the-Lake) shhhh... Enjoy!

The whole family had a great time visiting Niagara Falls. It's very much a touristy area but we had no difficulty seeing and experiencing everything we wanted to with minimal waits and crowds. It's hard to describe in words what it feels like to be standing so close to such a powerful force, it's something best experienced and enjoyed in your own way.

Be sure to get a hotel room with a view. The falls light up in different colors at night. Take the boat tour -- the sights are spectacular.

Oh my goodness. It is so beautiful and scenic here. Lots of parking to the back of the falls for a fee. The area is filled with souvenir shops, different restaurants and game arcades etc. Lots of fun filled activities for the family. Oh and it's free to enter the falls area.

Getting to visit the "most visited" Niagara Falls waterfalls for the first time (on 02/09/2024 at 9:10pm) really was something truly special! My hubby and I were visiting New York when we decided on a whim to drive to Niagara Falls on the Canada side and I'm so glad we did because we got there at night (around 9pm) not knowing that the waterfalls would be all lit up in colorful hues of blue, red, & green! (See videos of the colorful awesomeness included w/ this review) I highly recommend visiting at night because there were only a few other people visiting so it felt like we had the waterfalls all to ourselves. Here are a few helpful tidbits that I wanted to pass along - - - -cost: This was a "free-99" thing for us to do since we didn't take a boat ride & instead walked along the boardwalk along the waterfalls. - - -parking: We were able to find a parking spot in a nearby lot & just walked down to the falls. - - -wheel chair and stroller friendly: The boardwalk along the falls is concrete so this makes it wheelchair & stroller friendly. Did you know that Niagara Falls is the 5th most popular tourist attraction in the world?! Another reason to visit at night to avoid the crowds . Hope this info helps! What can I even say? There's a reason this is a modern natural wonder. There are a TON of people here.. We went at 11pm-1pm to see the falls lit up, and it was still packed. Come in an off season for less crowds. Definitely worth seeing at least once! Beautiful and nostalgic.

These falls are breathtaking...the volume of water that comes down every second is astonishing and the beauty surrounding this area is one of the prettiest in the world. We got to take pictures of the Horseshoe falls and the American falls from the Canadian side and there were always spots to take pictures and to enjoy the beauty of these natural wonders. Visiting the falls is free. Parking around is going to cost something from probably $10-50...so plan accordingly and be patient regarding the parking situation ... it can be tiresome.

As soon as you tell anyone, "I'm going to Niagara Falls" they will excitedly respond, "It's better from the Canadian side!" And this is true. Just look at any satellite image and you'll see that the Niagara River (which splits the New York and Ontario) makes a turn, giving a great view from the north looking south. Sorry America, that's just how geography works. With a total elevation drop of 325 feet (99 meters), it flows into the Niagara Gorge. There are a number of ships that will bring tourists into the gorge to get drenched by the Falls. The famous Maid of the Mist is one, but that departs from New York and I wasn't ready to cross the border yet. So I booked one of the tours from the Canadian side and afterwards, continued to explore the Ontario side of Niagara Falls. It's magnificent. It's tremendous. And it's absolutely something you should not miss. Expect to get drenched and plan for it. Yes, you'll get a poncho (my ship was handing out red ones) and it won't help at all. Bring a change of clothes and a change of shoes. Enjoy yourself at this wonder. [Round number 22500 overall - review 1477 of 2024 - 154 in Ontario]

Ok so, first time here, but I had read some reviews and we brought our own Ponchos which were far superior to what they hand out here with your entry ticket. I wore shorts, in the cold weather, because that is just what I do, so my pants did not get wet. I wore socks and shoes that were quick drying, so I only walked around in sloshy shoes for a small time, however you are probably best to just bring a change so that you don't have to walk around in wet shoes at all. It is difficult to image the power of this falls, as my wife said to me here 'I thought it would be bigger" Is that the first time she has said that to me? Maybe not. While the falls itself is not super tall, it is massively wide, and the power that is generated by the water coming over the falls is hard to express, without experiencing it from the decks here at the cave of the winds. Oh yeah, also there is no cave.

What is often overlooked is that four of the five Great Lakes (Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie all drain to the east, meaning that all the water flowing west to east ultimately travels through the Niagara River, over the Falls and into Lake Ontario before moving into the St. Lawrence River on the way to the Atlantic Ocean. That is a whole lot of water, and it explains while the only 36 mile long river carries more water, sediment and dissolved minerals than any other watercourse its size on Earth. That its course is north is explained by looking at a map of the Lakes. The eastern end of Lake Erie is actually southeast of the western end of Lake Ontario, and the channel connecting them (Niagara River) must navigate almost due north to link these huge fresh water bodies together. There is only a 9 foot decline from Erie to the head of the Falls, but this gravitational pull is enough rush that watercourse to the edge of the three falls in rapids that spill over the dolomite capstones and crash down the final 190 feet to account for the final verticality between the two lakes. Below this precipitous drop the River becomes a gorge as it races the narrow banks past a hydroelectric dam siphoning off power to generate electricity for more than 1 million people living on both sides of the border, yet leaving sufficient volume to continue to fill Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence beyond. In earlier times, a portion of the War of 1812 was fought in and around this area for control of these assets and for the Americans, to finally evict Great Britain from North America. Although the overall war was won by the United States, the piece that occurred in and around Canada and these borderlands, was actually lost, which is why England remained in Canada; and Canada, a part of the British Empire, and thereafter, the Commonwealth, for nearly a century thereafter. All is peaceful today, and the Niagara River and Falls can be enjoyed on both sides of the border created by the River, although from this perspective, Canada has the better views.
