Great panoramic spot for selfie and smell the fresh breeze of Niagara Falls. The falls is super loud and can easily drown out your surroundings. This is the spot.

Niagara Falls. From the observation deck

The extended part of the observation deck was not open at night. I thought that was a little strange. The light show and the sound system could be much better. As weak as it was, you can't really wreck the falls

Free with fantastic views of the falls, down river and across to Canada. We came here after being ripped off for a view at the lower falls down the way. This was far superior at no cost, redeeming my reputation with family.

Offers some amazing views of the falls. Current prices are $1.25 per person to go up (stairs or elevator) up to the deck. Easy walk from various parking lots in the main hotel/caisno area. Not too crowded on a Monday, but I can imagine that the deck gets crowded on the weekends or during the summer.

I had heard the best way to view the falls was from the Canadian side, so my expectations were on point- but the observation tower gives a good side view of the American Falls and one side of the Horseshoe Falls, plus a great view of the Rainbow Bridge, which I was very disappointed wasn't colorful. We had access with our Maid of the Mist boat tour tickets, but there is a small fee to go up from what I understand. There are elevators to whisk you up and down- attended of course. I think we picked good times and days to check out the falls- busy, but not over crowded!

Chilly night at the end of October 2023 BUT worthwhile! BOO!

This is a great spot to investigate as it gives one an opportunity to see a bit more of the Falls and especially the American Falls. Many compare it to the view they'd get by crossing the nearby Rainbow Bridge into Canada to get the FULL horizontal view of the falls. In summer, it's open all day but charge for access to the tower, but after 4 or 5pm, it's FREE as the ticket booths at the entrance are then closed. During the winter, due to snow and/or ice it may be closed, if open at all.

2.00$ after waiting a very long line that is for observation and for the maid of the mist.... so, after waiting 20-30 mins, to be honest, you may as well fork up the other 18$ and just join everyone else or else you're just gonna be unsatisfied with not getting up close after your hard work of standing in line and then only able to get shots from above and not up close. You get a little more view of the horseshoe and the American falls- the photos will be better to bring up and upload onto yelp, but let's be real here- if you drive or came this far, bring a picnic or something and spend as much time as you can next t the falls!! Oh you also get nice shots of the bridge over Niagara river- super scenic and I imagine during fall the leaves and foliage make this a calendar photo contest worthy photos. Come earlier in the day to Niagara bc too many tourists will have you waiting your turn to get a pic by the railing and have people's arms and hair and half cropped bodies in your selfie. Also... BRING a selfie stick bc no human arm can overcome the rails behind you unless you're super tall or have some jelly arms or Bulbasaur vine whip

Great tourist attraction! Beautiful views and wonderful photo opportunities! Another must see when on the American side of the falls.

You want to know a secret? I went after dark and it was open to the public for free. For that price it was totally worth getting pushed around and packed together with strangers for the best view of the falls on the American side. Great view on a budget.

Absolutely breathtaking view of all the falls!!! This is a MUST-Do!!!!! This was my favorite experience at the falls and very easy to get to verses all the rest. The views as stunning!!! Perfect family photo op!!!

Yes! Yes! And, it's one of the pristine highlights on the American side. We loved the easy walk out to this observation viewing deck! Stunning views of the entire Niagara Falls area, Rainbow Bridge (walking route to Niagara Falls CAN) and the skyline overlooking the Falls. Just GO! Niagara Falls either side is worth the visit.

It was lovely, gorgeous, and breathtaking. During winter the area is a ghost town making parking plentiful. We purchased tickets and were guided inside promptly. We were given a brief video history of Niagara Falls before we were herded to the elevators and brought down to the main attraction. In winter just watch your step and go bundled. It was definitely misty and plenty of ice on the floor. But enjoy and take tons of pictures. Would definitely come back!

Shoes, Socks, Legs, SOAKED. 2) We went towards the end of the season, the wood handrails and boarding are all SLIPPERY, walk slow. 3) Did I mention you will get SOAKED? Ok so, first time here, but I had read some reviews and we brought our own Ponchos which were far superior to what they hand out here with your entry ticket. I wore shorts, in the cold weather, because that is just what I do, so my pants did not get wet. I wore socks and shoes that were quick drying, so I only walked around in sloshy shoes for a small time, however you are probably best to just bring a change so that you don't have to walk around in wet shoes at all. It is difficult to image the power of this falls, as my wife said to me here 'I thought it would be bigger" Is that the first time she has said that to me? Maybe not. While the falls itself is not super tall, it is massively wide, and the power that is generated by the water coming over the falls is hard to express, without experiencing it from the decks here at the cave of the winds. Oh yeah, also there is no cave.

I found the Underground Railroad tour in Buffalo and immediately booked. Why did I book? For starts, it's a 3 hour tour learning about one of the most historic and unknown aspects of American history. It is extremely well priced for the convenience and intimacy of the tour. You're picked up at the Underground Railroad Historic Museum (free parking is a bonus) and you're met by Kevin (dressed in period clothing including a dope top hat). He drives you to the key areas of Buffalo that were critical to the Underground Railroad. We had a very diverse tour group and Kevin made us feel comfortable to ask questions and to interact with our group. One of the best parts of the tour was going to an actual "station" on the Underground Railroad. It's a 300 year-old barn organically owned by McClew family who were "conductors" on the Underground Railroad. You get to experience the barn where many people were housed, fed, and clothed on their journey to Canada. After this experience 've become a Motherland C groupie! Kevin (the owner) could be a history professor (watch out, Dr. Gates!) with his knowledge and passion of American history and the history of Western New York (he's a Buffalo native). Kevin even gave great recommendations for shops, food and hotels for the Toronto leg of our trip. They offer a variety of tours so make sure to check out their website to get their schedule.

Turns out we were the only ones on the tour today, so it was a wonderful, personal experience with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide named Kevin Cottrell. What is often overlooked is that four of the five Great Lakes (Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie all drain to the east, meaning that all the water flowing west to east ultimately travels through the Niagara River, over the Falls and into Lake Ontario before moving into the St. Lawrence River on the way to the Atlantic Ocean. That is a whole lot of water, and it explains while the only 36 mile long river carries more water, sediment and dissolved minerals than any other watercourse its size on Earth. That its course is north is explained by looking at a map of the Lakes. The eastern end of Lake Erie is actually southeast of the western end of Lake Ontario, and the channel connecting them (Niagara River) must navigate almost due north to link these huge fresh water bodies together. There is only a 9 foot decline from Erie to the head of the Falls, but this gravitational pull is enough rush that watercourse to the edge of the three falls in rapids that spill over the dolomite capstones and crash down the final 190 feet to account for the final verticality between the two lakes. Below this precipitous drop the River becomes a gorge as it races the narrow banks past a hydroelectric dam siphoning off power to generate electricity for more than 1 million people living on both sides of the border, yet leaving sufficient volume to continue to fill Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence beyond. In earlier times, a portion of the War of 1812 was fought in and around this area for control of these assets and for the Americans, to finally evict Great Britain from North America. Although the overall war was won by the United States, the piece that occurred in and around Canada and these borderlands, was actually lost, which is why England remained in Canada; and Canada, a part of the British Empire, and thereafter, the Commonwealth, for nearly a century thereafter. All is peaceful today, and the Niagara River and Falls can be enjoyed on both sides of the border created by the River, although from this perspective, Canada has the better views.
