Tucked away on a little lane in the heart of the CBD of Sydney is Felix, a little french bistro that will have you saying "oh la la" from the time you enter this little slice of France. Felix was recommended to us by a local and I always say, go where the locals go. I made a reservation on line and was assured by a follow up phone call that our table would be perfect. While I wanted to sit outside and pretend I was on the Champs-Elysees, my friend thought it was too hot so into the bar area we went. We were there early so there were plenty of workers and not many patrons so everyone was being super attentive and helpful. Our drinks were masterfully poured and I know this as my martini was perfect snd my friend's old fashioned was proclaimed as " one of the best he has had". A big win! I asked about what a "bug" was as it was on the menu and the server went to the raw bar and actually brought one over to the table to show me . . .great customer service. And our server also was quick to share her recommendations and make sure we got exactly what we wanted. For our starter course, we had raw oysters and the aforementioned "bug". Interesting, this so called bug, as it tasted a bit like a cross between lobster and crayfish. They have a variety of oysters each day so we spilt rock and pacific.. And for our mains, I had the chicken, which while it sounds uninspired, was delicious! It came with crispy skin and served with a side salad. My friend went with the lamb as our server recommended it and it was terrific! All in all a great experience. Dinner for two with drinks ran about $215. The place was packed by 8 so make a reservation. And be sure to have a drink at their vintage like bar. The bartender is absolutely terrific. Try a slice of France right in downtown Sydney!

We had an amazing experience:) The food was out of this world! I dont really eat raw meat but their steak tartar was fantastic! And they cool thing about it is that they prepare it right in front of your table, so you can see all the ingredients and spices. Also we had lamb, which was so tender - just melting in your mouth:) Every day they have specials and white asparagus was the side dish of the day! Let me tell you something - delicious!!! Staff was super friendly and kind. They got us a table even though we didnt have a reservation and it was raining a little, so the seating area outside wasn't really occupied. Very lively authmospher! Just a great place to go with your family or friends or on a romantic date ;) Highly recommend! Cheers :)

Felix is a french bistro located in the central business district of Sydney. We had made a last minute decision after seeing the reviews on Trip Advisor to give it a go. We called and were able to snag a reservation. I love trying french restaurants all over the world after having spent two years living in Paris for the 'glamor' and feel but also a 'true' french restaurant is a great food experience. On first glance, Felix has the decor and that glamor of France. The wine list is pretty extensive, being so far away from France here in Australia. We were sat and found the host lovely ; our waiter came , quickly rattled off the menu in very broken English , ( he was from France , because I asked !), took our drink order and left. He came back and answered a question my husband had about the Waygu steak and said he would be 'back in awhile as he had this large table to deal with'. That large table was next to us and he wasn't kidding : he took almost 25 minutes to return and only after we flagged him down. He never went over the prix fixe menu , one reason we chose Felix and walked a distance from our hotel is the love of french prix fixe menus . He was super impatient because the other table was large, we suppose. My steak frites was good and a large portion. My husband's Waygu was very marbled though and wasn't the best. We had started with the Terrine Pate and it was okay but definitely not as 'french' as I've had when it's truly authentic. He never checked on us after the meal was served and we were over it and him. Our wine was empty as was our water. Again, we flagged the host down for the bill, never being offered a dessert menu. Everyone knows that french dessert is king! We had fun because my date is always the best date and we were in Sydney together .. but next time , Felix won't be our choice.

We absolutely love this place, it's one of those French restaurants where the waiters are all dressed in classic uniforms that adds on to the authenticity of this place. On top of that, the food is amazing, definitely come here for the steak and wine. The look and feel of this place will make you feel like you're on holiday in Europe. We can't wait to return in the future to have a feel of Europe again right in the heart of Sydney!

I would come back when I come to Sydney again.

Love it! Love the thursday night dish! Steak is so juicy n tender! Spatchcock is amazing so delicate n juicy! Ocean trout was fine. Mussel pot is alright! Steak tartar was very nice but not the best! The area is nice, but not big fan sitting outside but inside is way to noise. Service are wonderful, servers are knowledgeable. I ordered virgin mojito but it came with alcohol, she changed it directly. I'm looking forward to go back to try suckling pig on Tuesday!

This is up there with the best French Bistro's on Sydney. This restaurant is comparable to any good Bisro in Paris. With its stylish decor, the quality food on offer and the drinks list. I have eaten here a few times and it is cosistenly good. They have a small army of staff busily working the kitchen and the floor. The service was very professional, as to be expected in this type of establishment. We stopped in for the prix fix menu on this occasion, which is such good value dining. We ordered the gruyère souffle, this entree was light and fluffy with great texture and flavour. We ordered the confit lamb shoulder with red wine jus caramelised onion and paris mash. The lamb was melt in your mouth tender, the caramelised onion sweet and combined well with the jus. The mash was devine, the best I have had in Australia. Smooth and rich, Very decadent. No doubt a decent amount of butter and cream used. One of our dining companions ordered the wood grilled Salmon and raved how nice and delicate it was. We shared a couple of the desserts. The Valrhona chocolate tart with coffee mousse, hazelnuts and a cocoa nib tuile. A rich chocolate tart combined with a deicious quinelle of coffee mousse. We also shared the profiteroles with salted caramel, vanilla ice cream and the theatrics of the hot chocolate sauce being poured at the table. This too was delicous, with great textures and a contrast of temperatures; Cold ice cream and hot chocolate sauce. If you haven't dined in a Paris bistro and are after a similar dining experience, this is the place to visit.

This place just never fails to deliver! The restaurant itself is gorgeous just like your typical bistro in Paris and the food is spot on everytime.

A couple of my friends recently returned from Sydney, and they said if there was only one place…read morethey suggest I go to eat - it was Restaurant Hubert. Specifically the happy hour. So I did! They don't take reservations for their 5-6pm happy hour. You can only line up at 5pm when they open. We got there right before 5pm, and there were probably 10 to 12 people in line. Once the doors opened we were led downstairs to the bar area. It's a very dark, and feels like you've been transported to another time and place. We decided to try one of each of the food items on the happy hour: - Duck Parfait - Good. Classic French item and they do it well. - Brandade d'anguilles fumée - OK. I know it's eel, but wasn't very distinct from any other fish. My least favourite dish. - Saucisson Sec - Good. Simple. - Fleur de Courgette - Very good. Delicate and delicious. I should've ordered two of these. - Normandy Burger - Very good. The one item my friends raved about, and it was clear why. A burger with the best ingredients is hard to matched. I got the extra side of fries which is equally good. Best dish of the meal. Service was relatively good, except at one point they asked if I wanted mayo for my fries (very French) and I said yes, but it never came. Other than that, quite good. This was easily my favourite meal of my trip, holding up to high expectations. I would return on my next trip to Sydney.

I highly recommend getting here early to get a seat during Happy Hour and stay after to enjoy some live jazz after 6PM. The restaurant was easy to locate with a sign upfront. The entrance is just a door in the wall with spiraling stairs leading you to an underground jazz bar and restaurant. It's upscale and romantic, but several other people were dressed casually. We sat on a shared table with three other strangers until we ordered off the full menu and our Chicken Fricassée arrived. The service is top notch and everyone was attentive, polite, and kind. We started off with the happy hour menu and ordered the Duck Parfait. I didn't know what to expect. The croutons were crispy and delicate and the duck liver was easy to spread and airy. The Normandy Burger was juicy and the bread was fluffy. But the star of the night Chicken Fricassée - wow! Incredibly tender, juicy, and garlicy. The sauce had a mashed potato buttery, smooth texture. Absolute must get.

Stumbled on their website by accident and was hooked by their special 1st anniversary degustation…read morenight of their six best selling dishes. Menu looked fantastic and I can't stop thinking about it, so I made a reservation. Since my favourite French restaurant closed last year, I've been on the lookout for a new favourite, this could be it. A glass of sparkling on arrival and a friendly smile, enough to make a great first impression before our amuse bouche arrived, Escargot with Garlic & Parsley Butter. Definitely a great start! We didn't have to wait long before the first course arrived, Sydney Rock Oysters with Sauce Mignonette. Vinegar with mince eschallots made great accompaniment to the freshly shucked oysters. Black Truffle & Mushroom Veloute with Crumbed Quail Egg is creamy and earthy with perfectly cooked crumbed quail egg added necessary texture to the dish. Pan Fried Pancetta Rolled Scallop with Foie Gras, Fennel Remoulade, Lemon & Lime Vinaigrette was excellent. This was my favourite dish of the night. It was sublime. Everything on the plate complemented each other and the foie gras added complexity to the dish. Kimchi, Tofu, Ham Hock Terrine with Apple, Ssamjang Chutney, Sesame Leaf & Nashi Pear Walnut Salad was fresh and a great follow up after a heavy meal, a palate cleanser before our next heavy meal. But the highlight and my husband's favourite dish of the night was Grilled Eye Fillet of Beef with Basil Pistou & Jus. Perfectly seared sous vide beef so tender it felt like butter when you cut through it. It left an impression on my husband so big he seriously contemplating on buying a sous vide machine to try and recreate it. Just when we thought they can't go any better than this, desserts came. I had the Passionfruit and Plum Creme Brulée with its perfectly cracked caramelised sugar topping added extra crunch. I can't really taste the plum though, but found generous amount of Passionfruit inside the Brulée. My husband chose the Apple Tarte Tatin, Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream & Salted Crumbed and I can tell you he kept telling how happy he was that he chose it for his dessert. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case the Tarte Tatin as he scraped clean his plate within minutes of consuming it. Great timing on the delivery for each course. The matching wines I had with my meals were greatly matched. All that combined with intimate ambience and friendly staff definitely completed a pleasant dining experience.
