His behavior on the phone was unnecessarily argumentative, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. The issue itself was simple: payment information was being given over the phone. The card numbers had to be repeated several times, and Kenny was still having difficulty catching them, even telling his coworker to slow down. Somehow, instead of simply handling the transaction professionally, he became frustrated and argumentative. At one point, he basically said he didn't have to take my money and could hang up. Luckily I was helping my nephew because I would have not paid nothing and paid another tow company with honor. That attitude is unacceptable when you work in a customer facing business. Customers should not have to deal with someone becoming disrespectful because they're frustrated while doing their own job. Even when a customer is difficult or there is a misunderstanding, professionalism means knowing how to communicate, control your attitude, and de-escalate a situation not make it worse. What makes this even more disappointing is that Kenny is the owner's son. Whether he realizes it or not, the way he treats customers reflects directly on his father and his little brother Clyde Jr Always Towing. Being related to the owner shouldn't mean you get to speak to customers however you want. If you don't want to dispatch, take payments, answer phones, or deal with customers all day, then customer service may not be the right job for you even if it's your father's company. A business cannot expect to grow and maintain a good reputation when customers are treated with disrespect. People deserve basic respect. You never know who you're speaking to someone's wife, daughter, mother, or niece. Watch how you speak to people. You can be firm and still be professional. Unfortunately, based on the way this situation was handled, I cannot recommend Always Towing. The lack of professionalism and customer service completely overshadowed what should have been a simple transaction.
