I would give -1 star if I could. Feldco just installed my roof today. It was $20000. That is way more than anyone else charges for a roof on a small 4/12 pitch ranch. I expected an excellent job for that price and peace of mind but when I watched in horror as the installers hoisted moldy sheathing onto my roof, peace of mind was gone. I was working from home and had to stop and dash outside to tell them not to put moldy lumber up there. The site supervisor had the nerve to tell me that it was dirt. It was clear black mold spots covering five inches of the entire perimeter of the sheet. Dirt, you can brush off, mold you cannot. When I said I know what mold is and I'm not an idiot. The supervisor said they wouldn't use that sheet. When I said, that I watched them hoist the previous moldy sheet up there, he told the guy to hold it up (on the roof) so I could see. The guy deliberately turned it over to the other side. I told him to turn it back over and clear as day...mold. The supervisor told him to not use it and lower it back down and he said sorry. BUT they had already hoisted up other sheathing. They were most likely moldy, too. They made a display of moving the two sheets. However, they stop hoisting the sheathing in front of my window. So, I know what that means. They put the moldy boards up there anyway. How can I not assume that all of it is bad? Why say you're doing the right thing but move to where I can't see you? I called Feldco right then to complain. Supposedly, they're manager talked to them on the phone to make it right. Yeah, right. Dishonest people are dishonest. Next, I received a call from the sales person telling me they had to replace 2/3 of the existing roof decking because it was so badly rotted. Except, I didn't see them remove any rotted wood. He tells me that they had to replace 45 sheets! Oh...and that each sheet was $121! WTF?! Oh yeah and they didn't say anything to me about it first. Keep in mind, this is after I complained about the moldy materials. I asked for pictures before they did that. None showed rotted wood. In that message the sales guy said that he misspoke. I've attached a screenshot. There hadn't been a ton of rotted wood. Supposedly, they just wanted to do a better job. What dishonest people want to do a better job? (Plus when he quoted the job a month ago and when the manager came to measure the job weeks ago, they both said there was nothing they could do about making the roofing between the main house and the addition even out). So, I wasn't expecting anyone to try. Now, they want me to sign a document saying I am satisfied. No. I am not satisfied. I'm ticked off knowing that I am paying $20K for a roof with new mold. I am ticked that someone wants an additional $121 a sheet for moldy wood that I didn't ask for or want (and costs between $20-$50 a sheet) and that he clearly declared was elective. What a jip. Keep in mind, all of this extra wood information occurred after they'd already put it up and after I complained about moldy products. I complained around 10am this morning. I am told about this enormous extra cost much later, closer to 5pm. About the mold concerns, Feldco just wants me to forget about it. They say, they addressed it, though I saw nothing change other than them no longer hoisting it in my view. I guess that's how they addressed the problem with me complaining about moldy wood.

Gaps and defects in window installation

Feldco replaced a client's windows, starting from approximately a year and a half ago, and the job is still not completed. The work is sub-par, and customer service has been terrible. The window frames have gaps, the pieces don't fit together and have different colors, and is, in general, shoddy work. The defects have caused water to leak in and damage the interior of the home and has caused mold and bugs to grow. I would certainly not recommend this company to anyone looking to replace windows or doors.

After choosing, he quoted a reasonable price, and we proceeded; no haggling, no suprises, no oh-by-the-ways. On installation day, Dan and his team replaced all three doors within 2 1/2 hours. Whoa. It was expertly choreographed, with each crew member doing a specific job. They were all super polite, super clean, ... and fast. And as expected they hauled the old crap away and left the place clean. In short: the quality of the doors, the installation, and the final result are superior. We'll use them again for another window replacement this summer. One thing though, the wait for the doors from the factory was a little longer than I expected but I figure that was mostly because of the supply-chain issues, so that's not a zing on them, but rather to point out that you have to factor that wait time into your project/expectations. Thanks to Joe, Dan, and crew!

Not only did it rain hard but very strong winds blew directly into our new door and windows. With our old windows and doors, we would have been on hands and knees with towels and mops sopping buckets of water from our wood floors. This time we stayed absolutely dry. I was actually surprised we didn't get a even little leakage due to the intensity of the wind and volume of rain we had last night but, no, not a single drop. Can't say enough good about Thebco. You won't go wrong selecting them to replace your windows and doors.

Last fall, I reported that I felt they weren't working properly. When their service technician came out, I was told that the sashes were a quarter of an inch shorter than they should have been. He ordered new sashes. When they arrived, he installed them in two windows but in the third the latches didn't line up. He told me that he would order new ones and install the latches himself. On January 19th, one of the windows that was replaced in the master bedroom had a seal failure and there was ice in the bedroom, which I let Thebco know about. On May 20th, the service technician brought only one sash with the wrong latches. I called Thebco in early July and received an email apologizing blaming the manufacturer for the delay. I called again on July 17th and haven't received a response. Was Canadian wild fire smoke getting into our bedroom, and did I have increased utility costs with windows that may not be operating at 100%? Is this what you would consider good customer service?

Three firms came to the home to give us a detailed quotation. We decided on Ridge Top Exteriors because they gave a competitive quote and offered no-interest financing. The work was completed in August 2019. The following comments are our observations: Dave H., our company contact, was responsive to our concerns. He was knowledgeable and professional. The gentleman who did the soffits/fascia, Te**i, was fantastic! I would suggest him to anyone to 'bend tin' on their home. Our home had some interesting corners, he completed the work expertly. As for the sub-contractor who installed the gutters (T**y), I would NOT say the same. The gutters were rolled and installed correctly, as well as function (for the most part). Significant gaps were left behind where the roof flashing and the gutter apron overlap (meaning did not overlap). Since they are 'low profile' style gutters, now my discolored roof flashing is visible. I mentioned this unsightly new development to Dave H., who informed me that the roofing company should have installed a new roof flashing with the new roof (meaning there was nothing to be done, except painting). In addition, I have two small rivers, which now run down my roof valleys and over the new gutters during rainstorms. When you hire a company, you pay for their labors and expertise. I would suggest Ridge Top Exteriors to others, however, the gutter sub-contractor, T**y, I would NOT recommend, as it seems they do not possess the expertise. Thank you for reading my review and I hope you found it informative.

This two-star rating does not reflect the quality of work performed by the individual sub-contracted companies, which final product was satisfactory after timely repairs. The low rating is due to a significant lack of communication with Ridge Top, and unfinished work. Sub-contracted crews showed up on-site unannounced or changed their work schedule without notice from Ridge Top. We were informed we did not need to be home on days only outdoor projects would be completed, and yet crews were ringing the doorbell asking for instructions about installation that was not provided to them by Ridge Top (window orientation, down spout locations, etc). This interfered with work-from-home meetings. During siding work, the doorbell circuit was closed by poor nail placement causing it to run continuously. This resulted in both the door bell and transformer to become overheated and melt the bell chime cover inside the house. This was replaced by an electrician in a timely manner. Significant work-site debris was left in the yard, and Ridge Top's project managers shared our alarm at the final walk through. Together, we picked up roofing brackets, pail-full of nails we have collected with our own magnet, trimmed pieces of fascia/soffit/siding, and whole shingles. When we signed with Ridge Top we specifically asked, and were assured, that the new window trim would match the existing size, eliminating the need for additional significant drywall and paint repair. After 2 separate measurement appointments before installation, the finished trim installed on 13 windows was significantly smaller. We raised this concern during installation and at multiple walkthroughs, but it was repeatedly ignored. At the final walkthrough, Ridge Top acknowledged the extensive repairs required to both drywall and painting, and offered to provide compensation if we could get a quote from our own painter. Unfortunately, 2 weeks after the quote was shared with Ridge Top and multiple un-returned phone calls, they reversed this decision citing generic contract terms. This situation would not have been an issue had Ridge Top honored their initial assurance of minimal repairs or addressed the problem promptly. Instead, the lack of transparency and follow-through has resulted in unnecessary additional expenses and frustration.
