If you are craving authentic Taiwanese food, Fei's restaurant is definitely the place to go. From the 豆漿 (soy bean milk) to the 魯肉飯 (pork stew rice), everything is homemade, extremely underrated, and absolutely delicious! We ordered the potstickers, soy bean milk, pork stew rice with egg, pork belly bun sandwich, and green onion pancake with egg. The potstickers were juicy, the pork stew rice was flavorful, the pork belly bun was extremely tender and soft, and the pancake had the perfect chew, paired with the slightly sweet and spicy homemade sauce. The owner, Fei, is one of the kindest and most hardworking people you'll ever meet. She works by herself all day, and makes almost everything on the menu by hand. Please consider giving this small restaurant a try if you are ever traveling by Albuquerque- you won't regret it. read more

I went to Fei's Café to have lunch a couple of weeks ago. There was a round pendant hanging on the front door. As I walked in, the motion of the door caused the pendant to swing back and forth with a lot of force. The pendant hit me in the mouth, severely bruising to one of my front teeth. I showed Fei what happened and, because I was injured on her property, I asked for her insurance information. She refused to give it to me and said her insurance would not pay for anything. I asked her the name of her insurer and she said she didn't know. When I told her I would write this review, she said she didn't care. Two weeks later, my tooth is still sore and I am out several hundred dollars in dental bills. It costs Fei nothing to give me the name of her insurer. The fact that she won't share that information makes me wonder if she has insurance at all. I cannot recommend a restaurant that, in my opinion, has no regard for a customer's safety and well-being. There are many restaurants in town that do the right thing by their customers and take responsibility for incidents that occur on their property. I recommend eating at one of those places instead of Fei's Café. read more

I enjoyed my time here. Prices are very low and the food is great. It's all vegan so I could have eaten everything on the menu. The place itself is very small and the art and paintings on the walls are nice. The service was good, kinda slow in bringing the food over, but very nice. Gave me a moment to just talk with the person I came with. The chef, who i'm thinking is Fei, was very friendly and welcoming. She gave suggestions, as it was our first time there, and some of the names on the menu makes you wonder how they came up with that name in the first place, and we've asked. I love to eat at Fei's. Even though Fei's is a vegetarian restaurant, my meat eating friends really enjoy the food there. The house specials have several choices for the main entree. I highly recommend the veggie nuggets! I have also ordered the special seitan to go. I take it home, grill some onions and peppers, add the special seitan, melt some cheese on the whole thing and then put it on a roll. Then you have an amazing veggie philly cheese steak! It's family run and they prepare most of the food by hand. The fruit smoothies are good and they have Jasmine Boba tea. It is also vegan friendly and very reasonably priced. The portions are not supersized, but just right. They do have several lite dessert options such as sesame seed balls and miniature custard pies. My children often request to eat at Fei's! read more

Fei Cafe is where I first met and fell in love with Bubble/Boba/Pearl tea, so it therefore holds a special place in my heart. While I have since found other venues for Boba, I generally can't resist a milk jasmine tea from Fei's for nostalgia's sake. As reviewers have already said, the veggie nuggets are quite tasty. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that McDonald's gets their nuggets from Fei's...wait, that's a weird thought. Fei's don't taste like greasy fast-food nuggets...they just don't taste like dull veggie either. Plus, if you get the lunch special, your nuggets come with steamed vegetables (like broccoli), so you feel even more virtuous and healthy. Also worth mentioning are the scallion/onion pancakes. Maybe a little more greasy, but still delicious. Fei Cafe is a quirky and wonderful spot for lunch...don't forget to enjoy the bee paintings on the walls! read more

I love to take my vegetarian boyfriend places where he can order anything off the menu so we went to Fei's after a nice hike along the Sandia Crest. We had a restaurants.com certificate and had no problems using it, unlike another yelper. I didn't realize how inexpensive the food was when I bought the certificate so we wound up getting a feast, trying almost every appetizer on the menu. (The current photo here on Yelp is of our meal.) We also sampled the hot and sour soup which was, in my opinion, the best thing we ordered. My boyfriend was so excited to find a place that has a veggie version and he loved it. The broth is so rich and tasty with great seasoning and a nice vareity of vegetables. Would definitely get that again. I, like many others, also really enjoyed the nuggets. The "fishless fillets" were bizzare -- defintiely a fish taste to them and I've no idea how they managed it. We liked the speical seitan and really like another Yelper's idea of using it to make veggie Philly cheese steaks. In fact. all the food was at least palataple, if not downright tasty, to this omnivore. My only complaint is that everything we ordered was beigeish brown. There was, for me, a surprising lack of color and fresh veggies. We didn't order the special, though, which I understand comes with some steamed veg. It was also a little warm in there and the water glasses were tiny. The smoothies we had hit the spot after a day's hike, but bigger water glasses would have been much appreciated. Wow...I was introduced to this place by my sister who is a vegetarian. She convinced me (a meat eater :)) that I would love the food. She was right! We usually go at lunch time and get the house special, with veggie nuggets and rice noodles, my sister gets the sesame noodles and likes those as well. Even though the tray she brings to you doesn't look like much, it's enough to fill you up and just enough of each flavor to suit your palate. I do recommend the smoothies - my sis likes the honeydew and it is delicious. The house special lunch is right under $6 and WELL worth it! Give it a try! read more

Everything is vegan! It's also close to where my after-lunch class, is cheap, and the staff is friendly. They have some great faux-meat, pretty decent noodles, and the walls have some pretty entertaining things painted on them. All in all a decent lunch spot. read more

Very disappointing. This place had been recommended to me by friends My daughter and I went there for lunch last week. I ordered the rice noodles and vegetables. She ordered the pot stickers and spring rolls. What I got was a pile of greasy noodles and about a teaspoon of green peppers. My daughter' s pot stickers were ok but she said the spring rolls tasted bad. I tried one and had to spit it into a napkin. It was greasy and tasted rancid. Also My daughter told me that the bathroom was dirtier than any gas station bathroom she had used. On the plus side the staff were nice and the food came quickly read more

Seriously, the filling of the Vegetable Roll resembled the unsalable parts of chicken and had a strong salty bullion flavor. My dining companion assured me that it wasn't really chicken. Fei's is awesome! It's great for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. The lunch special is under $5. I usually get a lunch special with the vegetable nuggests and a miso soup and it's $7 and more than enough food. It's a family business and the woman who works there remembers everyone and what they order. The only tiny problem is if it is busy it takes a while to prepare the food since it's usually just her and maybe one of her children there. But it's well worth the wait! read more

Hey, omnivore here. My sister dragged me to Fei's, and the first time there I was seriously impressed. We had a veritable buffet and tried a lot of dishes, including the famous veggie nuggets. Everything was great, so great it makes you second guess whether it's soy or meat. However as I've returned and tried other dishes, I've realized that a lot of their other stuff can be iffy. Almost everything that caters to meat lovers is great - the veggie nuggets, sweat and sour chicken, orange chicken, imitation fish, curry, etc. But over half of their menu is other stuff like the special seitan other flavors that can be just... odd. Most of it isn't ruin-your-day yucky, it's just disappointing after all the other good food. So definitely try it with an open mind. Even with all the misses, their orange chicken is my favorite in town and I still return every once in a while just for that. read more

Fei's cafe was my go to spot in college when I first went vegetarian. The lunch and house specials are a great deal and are quite filling. Some of the popular options for entrees are tofu, veggie nuggets, veggie ham, and spring rolls. The entree accompanies noodles or rice, veggies, bread, and soy "meat" with the lunch and house specials. My kids love Fei's and ask to go here often for lunch. I like to support small, local, vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants, and Fei's gets my business often. They're family owned and have been in business in the same spot here for years. This place needs help! Vegans and Vegetarians beware. The food tasted canned, nothing fresh about anything we ordered. The prices appear inexpensive, but lunch for two cost with tip about $25. I agree with Foo W. on the filling of the Vegetable Roll resembling unsalable parts of chicken with a most strange odor and taste. Please, please clean the bathroom! The bathroom sink is covered with old dirt and scum. The light switch was black,.It looked like a bathroom in an auto repair garage. And their were ants crawling across our table. Really wonderful option for vegetarians, and pretty darn nice for omnivores too. I don't know how they do it, but the family puts together quite a varied, healthy, delectable,and inexpensive range of Chinese food. Try the veggie nuggets and their curry. We've never had a bad experience there. The only word of caution- people with gluten intolerance should ask about which dishes are alright to enjoy. For everyone else, try everything! read more
