Bit of a late review, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. But I had a cold brew and it was great.

You can feel the DMs town vibes and coziness as soon as you walk in. The front seating area has a piano and seating and tables. The coffee bar is in the middle and they offer seasonal items such as Apple Crisp Latte (which was delicious) & S'mores mocha. There were pastries and scones and cookies as well. There is beautiful art all around for sale. Different nick naks and magnets and key chains and bags and soap etc for sale. And some adorable crocheted animals too. A fire place greets you after the coffee bar with 4 very comfy chairs. And behind that you can do downstairs where all the books are kept with tables and chairs and couches. And upstairs is a Longe area with more chairs and tables and couches. A perfect place to meet and catch up with family and friends or to study and enjoy a nice place to hangout. I wish this was in my town, I would be there every day! Def a must!

We called the day before to confirm numbers. When we showed up today, they had us seated at 3 different tables. It was never mentioned we couldn't sit together (even though they had longer tables available.) Someone in my party ordered a beer. They said they didn't serve alcohol, even though the front of the menu proudly stated they had alcohol available. I ordered my sandwich. The waitress asked what side I wanted with it. I told her the menu clearly stated sandwiches were à la carte and didn't come with sides. She pointed to her electronic pad and said it was asking what side I wanted so it must come with it, so I ordered a side. Guess what? I was charged for my side. I didn't want to make waves so I just paid for it, but three strikes and you're out. Food was okay, fries were pretty salty, but the aforementioned items made it an overall disappointing visit.

But it is good coffee and one of your very few options in Wells. This isn't a coffee shop, but a coffee club. Rather than buy a cup of coffee, you buy a daily membership that lets you order as many drinks and as many pastries as you like. All day. There aren't many towns where I wouldn't foresee this being abused. It seems to work as The Bean has been around for a few years now, according to the owner. The owner was also the main barista, coffee roaster, host, and probably everything else. He was really amiable and anxious to talk about the business and the building. There is only one small, residential-grade espresso machine at work, so service isn't brisk, but we weren't upset with the pace. The menu board outlines the options, but we had no issue with getting something off-menu if we knew what was in it. A small roaster on the back counter worked to ready beans for later use. The space is large and comfortable. There is local art on the walls (available for purchase), a few couches and big windows looking onto Broadway. A great club to be a member of Tuesday through Saturday!

Me and my boyfriends family of about 13 came here for my birthday breakfast (aka the 4th of july)…read more It was about 4 dollars a person and when you pay you receive a plate and get in line for a waffle. The waffle making station consists of about 15 cast iron waffle makers all making Belgian waffles, then 6 different types of syrups, a girl dishing out whipped cream and a juice table with milk and orange juice. We were all given one waffle per person and set off to choose our syrups. I choose pecan bin one corner, strawberry in another, blue berry and regular syrup. The whipped cream was just a batch of fresh whipped heavy whipping cream. Nothing special. The syrups didn't have a very distinct flavor, although the strawberry did taste like strawberry and the blueberry was very blue. The waffle itself I found to be very very eggy. It was almost half omelet half waffle-pancake. I like my waffles on the crispy side and this was far from that. I was full on about half of the waffle. It was good but I don't think id be back for another. By the time I did finish the waffle the line was out the door anyway, and dad was not fast enough to dish out enough waffles for everyone to have time for seconds. Although I appreciate the hard work and the organization, I think ill be getting my waffles elsewhere from now on.
