I recently returned an expensive piece of jewelry to a company in FL. I made the mistake of sending it via FedEX. The package made it to Pompano Beach and was placed on the truck for delivery...and then, by some mystery, it disappeared. Tracking status showed it on the truck for delivery for days so I called for an explanation. After fighting an automated system to reach a human, I spoke to someone who promised a call from the facility in FL. within an hour...I got the call 8hrs later. I was told by an employee in FL. that they don't know where the package is and will investigate. She also told me they would give me text messages to update me on this investigation (I have yet to hear from them over a week later). I filed a claim and my claim was promptly denied, despite the fact I have photos of the receipts for the shipping and the item, and photos of the package with the new label. I battled my way through the automated system to reach a human and was told my claim was denied because the photo of the receipt of purchase wasn't clear enough (it was) and I needed to fill out another form. When I asked what form and where I could get it, I got "Google it". Sent them new pictures and the new form I had to search for. Called right after to make sure everything was received and correct. The employee tells me all is clear and correct and that's all they need. That was yesterday, today I got another denial on my claim. Now they say the facility I dropped the package off to needs to file the claim. Huh? Why would a shipping company need to file a claim on an item they have no financial liability for? And if that's the case, FedEX would have denied the claim for that reason the first time around. Apparently, FedEX likes to steal thousands of dollars from customers. As this money was used to buy a special gift for my mother, who recently lost her husband of 55 years, I find this behavior beyond disgusting. Unlike FedEX, I can't easily dismiss $6750. I am heartbroken, as I will not be able to replace this. 12/28 - So, the saga continues. The shipping company, which is not financially liable, filed the claim...and of course, no word yet. Received a voice message from a FedEx representative telling me to get the shipper to file and, after an "exhaustive" search, the package could not be found. Of course, there is no explanation for how a package scanned, and placed on a delivery truck, simply vanishes from that truck. Further research into FedEx makes it clear they are not held responsible for their own actions. The customer is the only one held responsible. Here's how it works: FedEx profits no matter what they do. If the customer can't shill out $100s in shipping insurance, FedEx employees get a free bonus when packages vanish from trucks and the customer has no recourse. If the customer can shill out the dough for the shipping insurance, FedEx gets paid extra for shipping an item and the customer will find it very difficult to get compensation when the insured item is "lost". There is no guarantee the customer will receive the full amount declared or insured. In essence, the burden is always on the customer.

They lost my $1700 package and told me it would be delivered 5 days in a row and kept saying it would be delivered but they couldn't find it

There were mostly antiques handed down through the generations, as well as china dishes, glassware, pictures and paintings. I hired him because he was very knowledgeable in how to pack to prevent damage, especially to the older paintings. He and his (friendly) crew came to pack the items to be brought to his warehouse for further, proper packing and shipping. He also packed some pictures and antiques which he helped me to bring to my home in Boca Raton, FL. Let me tell you something - EVERYTHING ARRIVED in NY, CA and AZ PERFECTLY!!! The antiques, china dishes, glassware, paintings, pictures, etc., were wrapped and packaged in a box and then put into another box with packing materials. Absolutely EVERYTHING GOT THERE in the SAME CONDITION it left Florida in!!! I am so thankful and grateful to Jeff and his crew for doing such a FANTASTIC packing and shipping job!!! I would not hesitate to hire him again, and will, and you should give him all of your shipping & packing business!!!

We had lost my husbands grandma and I just recall it was a trying time. The items were shipped to a warehouse here in Chicago and they sat until this week! I tried to get my hubby to deal with them but I gave up. This week we finally had to deal with the boxes. Oh did I tell you there was water damage in the room they were held!!! Everything is perfect! There is everything from wedgwood china, to kitchen tchotchkes. Now I do not recommend waiting 11 years to open your shipped items but I just had to write and say if you want quality packing this is where you want to go. Many Thanks

Key issues: slow responses, incomplete answers to direct questions, and a general lack of clarity/ownership around documentation (photos/condition notes). I also experienced a pickup/release situation that happened before I had provided final written approval, which put me in a position I didn't appreciate. If you only care about the final outcome and are comfortable managing a lot of follow-ups yourself, they *can* get the job done. But if you value proactive communication, clear documentation, and a smooth client experience -- I'd think twice.

I used Craters & Freighters to ship a grandfather clock from Florida to New Jersey. The movers…read morearrived on time and carefully crated the clock. When it was ready for delivery in NJ, they contacted me and we arranged a delivery date and time. The movers arrived on time and carefully unpacked the clock. (I had arranged for optional white glove service, rather than moving the clock into the house myself.) We discovered some damage to the clock, which the movers and I photographed. I called the local Craters & Freighters office and they contacted a local clock expert. He came and fixed the clock. The repair was covered by insurance, which was part of the original quote. Everything went smoothly. I found the Florida and New Jersey offices friendly, professional and responsive.
