They refused to return my wallet, and I was forced to call 911 to have police respond. Once the police showed up, they threatened to charge the employees with theft if it was not returned, and I was eventually then able to get it back. Avoid at all costs!

It was over a year that I had moved from Vancour to Toronto because of work. The first thing came to my mind, call closest UPS to find if they can help (The UPS Store 42 - 125A-1030 Denman Street Vancouver, BC V6G 2M6, Tel: 604.689.1243. I was very nerves when I called store 42, but I was extremely lucky to speak with a lovely lady (Raha), she said, she will send someone to the apartment to pick up the box and then she will ship the box to Toronto. She called me 3 time: after picking up the box, confirm the address and collect credit card number, and finally one last time when she finished processing the paper work to let me everything done, and then email me the receipt. All this process was done in less than an hour on phone from Toronto. I am grateful to Raha doing this for a stranger, and I strongly recommend The UPS Store 42. Babak S Toronto, Ontario M5V 3V9

A gold coin and a large silver coin were taken from their boxes so the 2 empty boxes along with the rest of contents were delivered. I told the store manager but he stated that the coins were there when they closed the package in the store. He gave me an 800 number to call. It has been 3 months and I have not received any explanation, apology or compensation. Either someone at the UPS store took them or one of the UPS employees opened the package on its way and helped themselves to the contents. The theft would have been less obvious if they had taken the coins with the boxes that they came in. In future, I'll use Canada Post.

Your package will…read moresit on the doorstep of your home without a signature, in the elements, without a door knock or a doorbell ring. I recently upgraded my phone to a Google Pixel 10 Pro XL. My previous phone, the 8 Pro, started losing its charge rapidly within the last couple of months. Bummer, as I loved that phone that was over two years old. I ordered my new phone from the Google Store. I got an estimated shipping date. Shipping this phone to my home required a signature. It makes sense. It's an expensive device. Phones aren't cheap! My shipment was scheduled for Tuesday, April 7. Great! On this Tuesday, I got an e-mail saying that my shipment would be delivered on Wednesday, April 8. A day later would have been okay, except that I'd be at work. There was no way for me to change the delivery to my local UPS store. After having lunch at home on Tuesday, I checked my inbox and I got a UPS message saying that my order was delivered. I was home on Tuesday for the entire day. The UPS person neither knocked, nor rang the doorbell. The instructions say to get a signature. The UPS person placed the box on my doorstep and left. My phone was out in the elements for nearly two hours. Not cool. I got a store credit from Google. The funds were enough to get a pair of Google Pixel Buds 2a, which are the budget-friendly earbuds that supposedly fit better in your ears. I typically don't do well with such types of earbuds. It was UPS delivery again. No signature was required this time. No change of date. Nice! I wasn't home when the delivery happened on Monday, April 13. The package was left on my doorstep. It was raining that day. It wasn't off to the side of my doorstep, away from the rain. It wasn't placed in my mailbox on the side. It was placed directly in the rain. I called my dad and asked if he could swing by after my parents were done having lunch to pick up my wet box. He did, thank goodness! UPS is the lesser of the two evils when you put Purolator in the mix. UPS delivers. It simply leaves packages out in the open for potential porch thieves to swoop in and take them. UPS drivers can neither read, nor use their frail arms. My first package said that it required a signature from me. I never signed for the package. It was left on my step without ringing the doorbell or knocking on my door. Pitiful. I would have been upset if someone had stolen both my deliveries from my doorstep. I'm pleased that my earbuds were dry after the box containing them was left in the rain. Such a dumb move on the UPS driver's part. I pass by this UPS location weekly when I'm driving home from work. It's across from York University. Decent location. However, I feel that a refresher course on what it means to deliver a package that requires a signature is in order. (164)

Recently I wanted my vintage Nakamichi cassette deck repaired. I found a Nakamichi technician in…read moreMichigan, USA who offered to do the repair. I spoke to him and sent my deck across the border to him through Canada Post. He did the repair and sent the deck back to me via UPS. I soon after received notice that they would be delivering my deck but there was a border fee of $209. This sounded high to me so I contacted Canada Customs and explained the details of this shipment. They informed me that my border fee should be $93 and that they constantly received complaint about UPS of the same nature as my complaint. They informed me that I could do a 'self clearance' of the parcel by coming into their office in Malton and paying the $93 and receive a Proof of Payment document to take to UPS to have my parcel released. I then contacted UPS and let them know that I had contacted Canada Customs with concerns over the high fees. In short, they was very reluctant but did admit (after a 20 minute conversation/argument) that they had indeed over-charged me and I did only owned $93. I think it had something to do with the fact that I let them know that I was considering taking legal action against UPS over this. Spitefully, they informed me that they would not deliver my deck until I went to the customs office to get the Proof of Payment document, then scan and email a copy to them. I did that. It was a 4 and a half hour trip to do that I emailed them this Proof of Payment document and received a response from them. They informed me that it would take 24 hours to process my request after which time they would deliver my deck. I am still waiting for my package! I also believe this is likely a directive from their head office to add addition fees to all deliveries. I can't believe that is just my local UPS outlet that is perpetuating this fraud. My fear is that is nationwide. Let's face it, when a UPS delivery guy comes to your door with a package and wants a border fee, most will automatically pay what they ask not knowing they are likely being gouged. They just want their package. I certainly have been telling all my friends and family of this ordeal, strongly suggesting they never patronize UPS. I also considered making a video of complaint to post on YouTube. Avoid UPS like the plague!

While I'm not surprised at hearing UPS dropped the ball/package on their end she offered to accept my package regardless and stated she'd arrange a pick-up nonetheless - they should be ever so grateful to have a representative who goes out of her way to fix an error on UPS's end that she shouldn't have to be bothered with yet she seemed all too happy to go out of her way to assist and help me out nonetheless! I wish I could receive the same customer service actually from UPS themselves when calling their support line when needed as I received from her! BALIKBAYAN BOX : a carton shipped to the Philippines from another country by a Filipino who has…read morebeen living overseas, typically containing items such as food, clothing, toys, and household products. Now that we got that out of the way, as to add sentiments behind what goes on (bargain hunting and hauling, wrapping) when filling the box with essentials, let's get to the real reason why we (Filipinos) do it in the first place.... The shipment isn't the fastest, so the waiting game towards hearing the many gratitudes from your family overseas will take about 6-8 weeks, depending on which province you send it to. Manila and surrounding is always the fastest as the ship docks in Marikina, segregated and then shipped once again to neighbouring provinces. The higher the grass and nature, 8 weeks or more is likely for the delivery date. But that's not even the painstaking wait we endure with this magic brown box. WE HAVE TO FILL IT TO THE TOP to make the $95 shipment fee worth it. With what is completely up to you. My case, the receiver of my box is my 85yr old grandmother who currently resides with my uncle (mom's brother) who has 3 kids and lives in a compound with other relatives nearby, which means lots of rice and canned goods to make the unboxing worth it. And that I do! I wait for sales and deals and then little by little, takes me roughly about 6 weeks to get everything I need, I send it off. Others from different cultures is baffled by the concept. I too, was. I grew up in Dubai, moved here when I was 13 and would rather send money for extended help if anything and save me the hassle of grocery hauling etc. Until, I went back home for a family vacation and realized that essentials like shampoo and canned goods are more affordable here than anywhere there. Granted that there are local brands that sell for a reasonable price, it still doesn't beat sipping hot Nescafe coffee from Costco (AT NO COST!!) I mean, I do send money, but this box ensures that the money goes where it is needed. So the company I ship my boxes with is Forex Toronto, for the past two years now. All boxes have been shipped out in perfect condition, including the box I sent to 'MYSELF' as I vacayed back in the December 2018 and we didn't want to have a heavy carry-ons. And all my fellow Filipino peeps can relate, when we travel, there's no such thing as travelling light! We have to haul everything because each first, second, third and nearest to the toe degree cousin must taste chocolate from abroad. No, really! No exaggeration! So, I sent it September 2018 and arrived in our condo in Mandaluyong by December 5 2018. I packed olive oil (a bottle is worth about $15 at Power Plant mall!!!! ) tissue paper (always had one in the car for our long drives), my son's formula, diapers and baby wipes, as well as an umbrella stroller and his car seat (which I then left with my relatives to avoid bringing any excess luggage back ofcourse). The chocolates didn't melt, which means these guys use proper cooling storages, so keep that in mind. Among the items I always send are small kitchen utensils from the dollar store like chopping boards as they are produced with more quality here. But rice is always the winner, my Lola loves the smell of it. She says it's different and insists on only cooking it when guests come over, so cute! My box can supply a household's needs for about 2 months and up, and I believe that the happiness it gives means much more than the reaction I get. Forex is great, the reason why it's a 4 stars is because again, (DRUMROLL PLEASE) my kababayans (fellow filipino peeps) lack costumer service in areas which can be simply avoided through proper induction training. Meaning, being able to assist over the phone when updates are needed, without the hassle and compromise. I mean, isn't that part of what we pay for, the service? I called in today to find out the status of my box, and I was asked for an invoice number. Couldn't find it, so when I called back after 10 mins of panic looking, Ruby gave me an alternative option (which could've saved both of us saliva cells) by asking for my phone number to look up the shipment status. So there, simple things like that can offset anyone's mood and question why the world hasn't fallen yet! I know, a tad bit excessive but this type of repetitive behaviour can be and should be avoided at all costs, wether you are dealing with a costumer, foreign or not. So, yes a trusted company to ship with 100%. But if you happen to speak to a sassy Ruby, take a dose of 'patience pills' and you'll get through the day, I promise!
