Our go to spot for meeting visiting friends in Kennebunk. The service is always friendly and the space large and accommodating. Of course the have a full bar and a wide selection of very tasty locally brewed beers. The menu is quite broad from burgers, tacos and salads all the way to lazy lobster with lots of shareable appetizers. On this latest visit we especially enjoyed the hummus platter with plenty of feta and lots of olives. Simple straight forward pub food, served in a convivial atmosphere. The waterfront views and proximity to walkable shopping are just and added bonus. read more

We drove to Kennebunkport for lunch and to enjoy the area. We went to Federal Jacks for a seafood meal. The portions were not commensurate with the prices which were not inexpensive. The food came out lukewarm. We had warm chowder, warm fries, barely warm steamed clams, but nothing hot and the restaurant was not busy. The wait staff was pleasant but when I complained about the 12 clams, (I was so surprised by the serving I actually did count the clams), I received for my main course, ( steamers $20.00 and nothing was served with them, not even bread), she said she had another guest complain and would tell her manager. No one came to our table to apologize or ask us about our experience. It was a very disappointing meal and I left hungry even though we paid $140.00 for three people for lunch who did not even have any alcohol. I do not recommend this restaurant for all the reasons above! read more

We ordered the brussels sprouts salad and the veggie burger. This is our first stop in Kennebunkport. We were happy they had a rooftop with awnings over had to protect us from the sun. We liked seeing part of the Seaport docking's and people watching those from afar. It was slightly hard to get to. The Brussels sprout salad, barbecue calamari, and veggie burger were delicious. We wish that the labeling for federal Jack's restaurant was more clear that it included Kennebunkport brewing company drinks as well. As a local, I've been here during high season and low season. The prices are still high though "local recommended." I got the mushroom ravioli with added chicken and it was tinyyyy for the price and 4 pieces of chicken was +$5. Yikes. I enjoy the vibe, when it's not packed for a drink maybe outside facing the water. But food wise it just doesn't do anything for me. The people and the staff were all very nice. The food was pretty good for bar food. Don't go here expecting 5 star cuisine, but they know their food and are friendly and open to helping steer you in the right direction if you're between several dishes or drinks. They can also tweak drinks if you wish. There was no wait because we came on a Sunday and sat at the bar. I got fried calamari. It came out fried well and not greasy. The sauce was tasty. I also got the blueberry mojito with less syrup. Also pretty good. Again, neither was 5 star restaurant worthy, but for bar food, it was pretty good. If you're in the area, I'd suggest hitting up a bunch of places and small plating it up. Then you get to try lots of places out. read more

I'll be honest, we chose this restaurant because it was right next to where we paid to Park and it was waterfront. With that said, GREAT choice. We got there right before the lunch rush so we got a pretty decent seat. I do suggest they add a few umbrellas to the outdoor dining area, our waitress at half of our table directly in the sun and it got got pretty quick. Such a great view though and the tables were clean and staff was very friendly and our waitress rocked. Now on to the food (and drinks). We started with the soft pretzels. While they were delicious and the cheese was great, they only provide 3 pretzels when normally you get 4-6 at other restaurants so the likelihood of you needing to order more than one is pretty high and at $10 a pop, that will get costly. I went with the roast turkey BLT. The cranberry Mayo really made this sandwich. It was delicious and the farm fries were great as well. Second menu item was the chicken gyro. My husband said that it was good but not what he expected. The only pieces of cucumber were in the Greek yogurt dressing provided which was not very flavorful at all. The feta was a great touch though. Overall, it needed cucumber slices inside the pita and maybe a little more flavor to the yogurt dressing. The kids for the quesadilla and cheeseburgers and neither had a complaint. Portions are great size as well The beers were great and if you like margaritas, give their fresh margarita a try. It varies which fruit they flavor it with by day but I lucked out with the prickly pear and it was amazing. Overall, I highly recommend you give this place a try. read more

The waitress was pretty blunt and rude to me when it came to how I ordered it, and the result of this Cajun seasoned fish was one that disappointed. First off, the portion was extremely tiny for $17. While the haddock looks appetizing in this picture, it was by no means filling. Its centre was thin and soggy and lacked flavour. In addition, the chips came out cold and thin. Not a fan. read more

Federal Jack's is a staple in Kennebunkport serving pub-style food and pouring Shipyard brews. I remember coming here as a kid in the summer and enjoying the large windows and scenery. Fed's is right by the ocean and there are various boats docked and floating by as you eat, and I remember always loving it, and still do today. The inside of Fed's is very spacious with high ceilings, and various booth and table seating. They also have an expansive bar, and during the summer months, they have a second bar outside with outside seating. This is an important fact because in the summer months, this place can get packed with long waits, so the bar outside is the perfect touch to order drinks while waiting, however, in the winter months, the waits are not as significant. Fed's serves your typical pub-style food. Fried seafoods, salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. I have had many things to eat here. Their steak salad is always good, the fish and chips with haddock is a pleaser, and the nachos are a prime way to start your dining experience. However, after years of coming here, there is one thing that gets in the way of me giving it five stars...and it's the portion sizes. I feel like for the prices that Fed's asks for, the portion sizes should be a bit larger. However, the food is always decent. Definitely a place I will always continue to come back to! read more

The beer was good, is that something. The clam chowder was very blah, it was not seafood cream based rather tastes like thick chicken soup. My scallops were either frozen or bad and tasted horrible. The fries that came with it were ice cold while the onion rings were burnt(this just showed they really don't have any quality control or care). Onion rings should come in 2 different colors. Kennebunkport is a must see when visiting Maine. Lovely downtown area, scenic drives are a staple. We stopped in to Federal Jacks because it was open with decks area during COVID and had a very fine lunch. Traditional pub fare of apps, salads and sandwiches. I had the grilled rueben sandwich with fries and it was quite good. I prefer a closed face Reuben, which this was! Good combo of the kraut and dressing. Fries were good but standard. My companion had chicken tenders and onion rings. Tenders were crispy and thick. Lots of dipping choices including blueberry bbq! Onion rings were great!!!! Great view of water. Mommy trip to Kennebunk brought us here. Not sure if they were understaffed but we waited over an hour for our table. We waited in the plastic-enclosed deck area outside restaurant with cocktails. Let's be totally frank: the food here is just okay. We had... Basic Burger ($9.99) - burger with american cheese: About as unmemorable as you can get regarding a burger, the side of rice looked dry and unappetizing. Grilled Caprese Sandwich (9.99) - fresh mozzarella, vine ripened tomato and pistachio pesto on artisan wheat bread: unfortunately, there was about a half inch to one inch from the crust inward that had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on it. So it's definitely not worth the price tag or even getting again, since it's so underwhelming (which is shocking, because I thought the pistachio pesto would really pack a punch). The accompanying side of cole slaw was bland. Veggie Burger (9.99) - a homemade veggie burger served in a warmed naan with fresh greens, feta, tomato and tzatziki: as far as homemade veggie burgers go, this one was pretty awesome! And that they accompany it with Mediterranean flavors? Brilliant!!! The flavors all compliment each other just perfectly, and if you ask they'll cook your veggie burger in a separate pan away from the meat (ordinarily they DO cook it on the same grill as the burgers, FYI). The accompanying side of mashed potatoes though were tremendously under-seasoned and unexpectedly chunky. Hummus and Naan (7.99) - hummus drizzled with roasted garlic oil, chickpea olive tapenade, and naan: THIS. WAS. DELICIOUS. If you like unprocessed hummus, (really like the astringecy of) garlic, and subtle hints of olives... you will love this. I am so happy someone at my table got this, and encouraged me to finish it for them. Probably one of the best hummus' I've had store- or restaurant-bought. So, ordinarily, I would give this place a three star rating. But the customer service here? Some of THE BEST I've ever had anywhere. Each person in my party had dietary restrictions: one of us had GERD, three of us were vegetarians, and one of us was gluten-free. I also implied that I was allergic to fish... I am not, and I'm sorry I fibbed to them, but I really wanted a bloody mary. And - of course - they make their homemade bloody mary mix in a batch each morning and it includes anchovy-filled Worcestershire sauce. The server, though - without me asking - took it upon herself to check with the bar to see if they'd make me a fresh drink from scratch sans Worcestershire. They did and only charged me $5 or $6 for it. Was it the best bloody mary I've ever had? No... but that they willingly made me one when soooooooooo many places in Maine wouldn't have? Impressive and appreciated. The server - taking my fake shellfish allergy VERY seriously - also let me know that EVERYTHING fried here is done so in the SAME oil: the chicken tenders, the fish, the french fries, the onion rings, even the tortilla chips (meaning the last three are NOT safe for plant-based diets). Knowing this altered everything my vegetarian boyfriend and I were going to order, and our server was very, VERY, VERRRRRRRRRRYYYYYY patient with he and I as we hemmed and hawed, order then reordered frequently. From what I hear from my parents who frequent here, the service is ALWAYS like this, too. So, yes, I'm a fan... specifically of the outstanding, above and beyond exceptional customer service we received here from the beginning to the end of our meal. read more

This was my third or fourth time to Federal Jacks and the food is always delicious. I usually get a seafood dish and it's always cooked perfectly. What prompted me to leave a review this time though was the awesome service. Our server was Brittany and she was SO good- kind, speedy, efficient, helpful, went above and beyond in so many ways. (I really liked the house hot sauce so she got me a big container to go; my friends had their 18 no old with us and Brittany brought crackers for her as a snack; she refilled our waters and took away empty plates without us needing to flag her down, etc.) Even on a busy Sunday afternoon, she never made us feel rushed and we really appreciated her service! We tried it as first timers and when we were told that 2 of the beers the brewery offers were out (at noon) we should have left. Then we tried to order an item from the specials paper, out of that too. Settled for a lobster roll, lol what a joke that was. The only that was decent was the pretzels, not really because the beer cheese (with an up charge) was watery with no taste! I've been coming here for the past 25 years, both during the summer and the winter season. The food has definitely gone downhill but the waitstaff is solid and they usually have good beers on tap. The Wheelhouse IPA is my current winter favorite. They also have a beer specifically for Christmas Prelude, which is pretty fun. I would recommend coming here to watch a Pats game in the winter or drink a beer on the deck during the summer. Spend your money on food somewhere else! read more

You can't go wrong with the beer here. The food is nothing better than pub quality. My French onion soup was decent. The lobster roll was a big fail though. I don't like a lot of mayo on my lobster roll. This one was drenched in mayo. Our waitress was good and kept the pints coming. The kitchen was incredibly slow with our food. Several tables around us that arrived and ordered after us received their food 15 minutes before we did. Our oder wasn't complicated or abnormally large. The brewery offers tours daily, and there is a restaraunt and bar upstairs, and gift shop downstairs. The restaurant has walls of windows and offers beautiful water views. The food is good, even the desserts. All Shipyard beers are available on tap and there are different beer sampler options available.
