Bastrop Cattle Co walks you through the process from beginning to end and lets you know exactly what to expect, even the best way to cook certain cuts. My order arrived on time as promised, the package was perfect, and the cuts were clearly labeled. I cooked a ribeye first and it was better than any steak I've purchased from a grocery store. This is now the only place my family and I will purchase our beef from.

The…read moreground beef is fine and all the chuck roasts, shoulders, etc are all fine as well as they get roasted in the instantpot or smoker which makes the meat tender no matter what. Some of the bones have a ton of bone marrow which was an unexpected surprise. The steaks though are extremely tough and you cant really cook them medium rare because they are so chewy. My wife put a sirloin into the instant pot and it was actually better that way. I think they may not be dry aging them for long enough. The buying process was great and the people are very nice so I hate to give a bad review. Just to compare, a reasonable steak is a costco prime ribeye. I have never had a bad one.

Best Mexican Super in the entire city of Bastrop!…read more But did you know they have great breakfast tacos? And they're generous with the portions. Look at the amount of bacon I discovered when I got home, took my taco out of the foil and plated it :-) I order my tacos there without cheese, because the cheese they use tastes too much like Velvita to me. But they otherwise do a great job. I love their migas and they always have several fresh salsas to choose from. They also have Pupusas with Curtido! If you don't know what that is, you're missing out! It's the best and most iconic of all El Salvadoran dishes, and it's got a flavor profile that should be loved by anyone who likes Mexican food. Of course, it's not just a restaurant. It's a grocery store. They have meat and fresh produce and narrow but well-stocked aisles. The prices are good. The staff is friendly, and they speak English as well as Spanish. And being there is a bit like stepping into Old Mexico. So swing in by. They're over by Chapala.

They have very clean bathrooms and a nice area with tables inside if you want to stay and eat. They have a decent selection of drinks and snacks, and lots of clothing and boots for sale. But this time, we decided instead of a quick sandwich we would go ahead and order barbecue plates. Their prices are fairly inexpensive for barbecue and I think that's because they are not out back cooking on the pit all day. But the brisket and chicken were fair, made much better by their sauce. I liked the potato salad and I loved the green beans. I think the brisket sandwich is better than the brisket plate, so that's what I will go back to.
