Loved this place I came back and it was still scary and fun to enjoy I came with my friend and also Giuly she loves this place thank you everyone this is my last review

Entrance inside mall to haunted houses
Adrienne B.

This scream park is located inside the mall and the entrance is by 24 hour fitness. I go to haunted houses every year and would rate this one 3 stars. I do like they offered fast pass for about $10 more and it's worth it! Saved us at least 45 minutes to get in. The characters are walking around ready to spook you! It was too hot once we got inside the mall while waiting in line. They give you a flashlight before you walk in because it's very dark inside. The flashlight didn't help much I should have brought my own. It advertised there are two haunted houses but it feels more like one because you only enter and exit once. Overall I liked how long it lasted and plenty of people to scare you.

Bought upgrade immediate pass however I didn't realize the print out did not only said fast pass (requested for refund of the difference and awaiting response) Came on 30th before 7pm. No lines upon arrival but there were influxes of crowd intermittently. The entrance attendees were awesome and actors were nice. Set wasn't as elaborate but will keep you wondering and waiting for a scare every corner. I don't think you'll need immediate pass or even fast pass on certain hours but I didn't want to take the risk of wasting time waiting in line. Is it worth $176 for three people for about tops 20 mins of scare time? Not for me.

Teddy. Everyone's friend. Absolutely unhinged. No hands. 10/10

This is THE BEST haunted house in the Bay. Hands down. High quality scares, characters, rooms and staff. The maze was accessible, suspenseful, and well managed. I would HIGHLY recommend doing it twice- once with the flashlight and once without. It takes it to a whole new level of fear and adrenaline.

Captain Jack is the most kindness and humorous of them all... But dare if you will and go inside to see some of the scariest faces and screams. Definitely would come back! Only recommendation is that they actually make it two houses vs combined into one. Note: do not recommend for children! They will be scared.

Got the "immediate admission" tickets, and it came in handy to skip the lines the Saturday before Halloween (yes, there was already a line when they opened at 5pm). But I think the Fast Pass tickets would have been sufficient and better value (if you're arriving closer to opening time). It was fun. We had a single flashlight which was so cheap and dim that it was almost pointless to use. Besides, it's not exactly pitch black in there, so we could see the themed decor and setup just fine... as well as the monsters that creep up on you inside. I like that they didn't just do the typical jump scares... in fact the quieter creatures and characters were sometimes creepier. The sets were decent, not cheap looking, and the costumes and makeup of the actors were pretty good, for both those inside the haunted attraction and others outside scaring attendees waiting in line. I like the thrill of haunted houses, so in our short-lived, somewhat overpriced, excitement of "two haunts" combined into one continuous walk-through, I made sure there was lots of screaming :D

I loved it! The actors were amazing. I was spooked, but enjoyed every minute of it! Thank you for a great night out.

The experience was okay, what upset me was my partner lost an earring during the jump scares and she reached out to be told they had the earring in hand, because someone was honest and gave it to them. She couldn't pick it up that weekend so I went the next weekend. What happened next was one of most frustrating experiences I ever. They had me wait hours at the mall to tell me that the earring was no longer there. They gave me the runaround for weeks, essentially telling me that the ring was either stolen or lost. No responses from Steve the manager and the person who "accidentally thought they took it home" stopped responding as well. I'd be surprised if we were the only people whose lost items who stolen. If it was a phone it'd be easier to get but half of an earring set? It just boggles my mind. Posted the messages because it was really upsetting. I don't think it's worth filing a police report, but please don't expect human decency from the Managment or people running this event. Purely disgusting to steal from people who are paying 40-50 a head for a 5 minute walkthrough through hard corridors. If you were planning to steal it, or lost it, just own up to it next time please. Don't do this to another couple.

Very good . Jack's Bar next door has great burgers . Definitely one of the best places in Bay Area -- they have one in Sacramento also.

Fear Overload Scream Park Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Fear Overload Scream Park

Is it the scariest haunted house in California?

Worst haunted house I've ever been to. I've been to local ones put on by neighbors for fun that are scarier. Scariest part is the 3 hour line to do the 10 minute walk of shame

How much is it to enter and what else is at the place other than two hunted houses?

The price depends on if you buy a general admission, fast pass, or a immediate entrance ticket. And there is only 1 haunt to walk through, not 2.

What is the latest that they will let you into the park?

Ten minutes before closing is the latest you can buy tickets with cash.

How many in a group can enter?

This year they're starting to limit it to 4 or 5. Anything more and they will split it up.

How long does it take to go through?

We don't let everyone go through at one time we try to space everyone out, on our busier nights (Friday's, Saturday's and Halloween) we can't control how fast or slow people move through our 2 houses but we do our best to give space between groups.

What the age limited ? Want to take my 10 year old Son

I wouldn't recommend anyone under the age of 13 BUT that is at your discretion.

What age do you think this place is appropriate for? I've read anywhere from not under 12 to 15 with is a big difference to me. What do you think?

In my opinion I think anyone 10 and up is good but some 10 year olds can't handle it so it really depends on the child. 12 and up would probably be best though.

The whole experience was fantastic and I found that the setup was even better than previous years. There was a minimal line into each of the haunted houses and the people in the haunted houses did a marvelous job scaring us. There was a room from the church from the Nun and I got seriously creeped out when Valak arose seemingly out of nowhere and chased me. Something that's great to experience during the Halloween season. Some of the haunts were genuinely creepy and I felt like I was on a set of a horror movie - or in an actual situation encountering the supernatural and evil forces. Chuckle Chamber was creepy and scary. It was inspired by a circus and was something out of a real nightmare. I was genuinely creeped out wondering in the tunnel with just a dim light, surrounded by fog and unable to see anything around the arm's reach. Of course, I was followed by creepy and undead clowns and supernatural beings from the dark world who seek to harm me and I felt completely lost and afraid at that moment seeking to escape. The feeling of dread and gloom overtook me as I was wondering in the fog haunted by voices and images in the shadow. It was a real immersive experience! The decorations and the costumes were spectacular and even without the nightmare experience of walkthroughs I was admiring at how much details they put to construct the sets and set the dark evil mood! I screamed a lot and lost my voice. Every actor at the haunts stayed in character and they did amazing at creeping me out. I was terrified, dazed, and confused. This was such a great experience and I loved every moment of it. I highly recommend attending this. Also, I went there on a Wednesday night at 7:15 PM and the lines were short. So, if you don't like waiting in lines go early. They also had some fun but difficult Halloween themes games such as throwing chopped off heads at baskets, throwing rings at the skeleton hands sticking out of the walls and a walkthrough experience where you watch the video before a serial killer with a chainsaw chases you away. The actors walking around the ground outside the haunts did an amazing job terrifying distracted visitors and taking pictures with me after. They stayed in character the entire time! If you like Halloween or enjoy jump scares, theater, decorations and costumes this event isn't to be missed. Also, they had several food trucks and really good coffee and gelato vendors. I am glad that this production is locally owned and it is rare to support a local business of this scale. I have nothing but praise to say about this event and I will definitely repeat next year.

My kid was bummed, but I figured since there were no refunds, I could go back and get a snack instead with my tickets. I was denied and told to come back next week to redeem the tickets. I know this is all for a good cause and it really isn't too big of a deal, but it is silly that I literally bought the tickets within a minute and then walked back after the carnival being closed and then denied to even use the tickets on anything else and then told to come back next week. They were told not to sell any tickets since they were closing up the carnival early, but I guess it wasn't communicated well. I guess we will be back to use up the tickets next weekend...?

Even during COVID, when they couldn't hold the regular fair, they put on a special fall version instead. Getting to go to the fair in a Halloween costume was honestly such an awesome experience. I hope they do something like that again someday. I definitely have my traditions. Funnel cake is a must (always with strawberries ). Non-negotiables include the Sky Ride, the petting zoo, and the Model Railroad exhibit (ask about their scavenger hunt!). Before I leave, I have to stop at one of the old-fashioned photo booths too. I write the year on the back of every photo strip, so I've ended up with this little collection that's basically a timeline of my life at the fair. One of my favorite things is that it really feels like the community coming together, and the whole place has such a festive vibe. My dad has won a couple of blue ribbons over the years, I have friends who enter competitions, and I genuinely love walking through the exhibits to see what people have grown, baked, photographed, painted, and created. I always end up spending way more time (and money! ) than I planned, so now I just budget for it every year. The concerts have been incredible too. I've seen Bowling for Soup, Smash Mouth, the Village People, Flo Rida, and plenty of others over the years. Between the concerts, the demolition derby, the drone shows, the animals, the rides, and all the new entertainment they bring in every year, I usually end up going more than once before the fair is over. Speaking of food, the best (and most ridiculous) fair food appears every year. This year it was Spam fries. Did I try them? No. Did I absolutely stop to take a picture? Of course I did. Also, one year I somehow came home from the fair with a mattress. We weren't planning on buying one, but I guess that's just another Alameda County Fair memory. After almost 30 years, I still get excited every time I walk through those gates. I have to leave with my traditional photo strip, my feet tired and dusty, and already looking forward to next year.

I also visited on the 4th of July to celebrate a 50th birthday, which made the day feel extra special. It was a cool experience overall and definitely brought back some childhood memories. That said, I can also see why the park is on its way out. The whole place feels much more geared toward really young kids -- around 12 and under. My daughter has outgrown most of the rides, so there wasn't as much for her to enjoy. The upside was that the lines were pretty short, which was nice. There were a few things I didn't love, like some of the overcharged pay-to-play rides, but the food prices were actually reasonable and the gift shops were fun to browse. The worst part of the day was the parking situation. It was extremely disorganized and chaotic -- no clear line structure, multiple closures, and no one directing traffic in a meaningful way. I ended up stuck in the parking lot along with a lot of other frustrated guests for over two hours. That alone almost ruined the whole experience. Overall, I had a nice time reliving some old memories, but the park definitely has some major operational issues. It was august and it was the waterpark and the log ride which had a long line waited almost an hour in the 80 degree plus heat for the ride. I like that they have the water park but I would've liked the water ride instead of waiting for a slide. You can tell that they are slowing down the operations and that the 2027 season will be the last season that they are going to be open. There were a couple of rides that were not in operation that were kid rides and my nephew can't ride a lot of rides. I am sad that my nephew won't have the same experience as a teenager that his mom and I had. I had fun except the one ride I wanted to go on I could not because the harness was broken I think, that is the Dellerium, but the person blamed me saying that I did not fit. Safety I understand, but I have ridden the ride in Santa cruz and it is exactly the same just a different name.
