Absolutely the nicest and most engaging people we have ever come across. We shared a few stories and told them about our police force back home. They were so happy to chat to us and share (limited information of course). We felt really comfortable engaging with them and they did a fantastic job at the protest too. Cool, calm and collected, out in force looking after everyone. Well done NYPD, you all did a great job. Really nice personable people.

I always stop and let them know how I appreciate their service and presence. When I was at the Feast of San Gennaro this week they were present. They are at all the main public events I've attended. At the Feast they had a table set up for recruiting. The nice officer kept trying to get me to take a free pen. Make no mistake about it they are underpaid especially rookies. It's dangerous work and great benefits for those that survive. I'm not recommending you join the department but I am recommending them as they are currently treating me. If that makes sense. I'm glad they are around when I need them!

It's dedicated to the Horses in Valor and Devotion, and with mighty speed, shared in the rescue. Dedicated by the ASPCA in 1927. There's lots of seating around the monument. I was there twice today and people stop to rest as I did. It's in a quiet neighborhood without a lot of street traffic. I'm highly recommending you visit and enjoy the details of this beautiful monument up close. It's absolutely beautiful!

We've been meaning to check out Play Street Museum for a long time and glad we finally did on a…read morerainy day. The space is fairly small, but packed with a lot of different activities for little ones to do. There are five different 1.5-hour sessions per day, and that's just about the perfect amount of time to enjoy the space. They also give you a token to get a little snack before you go, and that and the time checks toward the end made leaving easier for my toddler. Some of the toys of course get a little depleted and mixed around during the play session, but the person on staff came by a few times to try to help reorganize so each play area stayed fun. I was really impressed by how clean and organized the whole place was overall, and it didn't feel overcrowded like other play spaces we have been to. Definitely support this family-run, Black-owned business! In addition to the regular play sessions, there are also events, crafts, and a gift shop to explore.

Since its inception in 1865, FDNY has helped lead efforts to make New York the safest big city in the nation. Unfortunately I see them hard at work all too often in my neighborhood. Fires are common when you have old residential buildings. Restaurant fires are all to common too. Along with the NYPD these men are risking their lives daily. I'm glad to support their efforts as much as I can and appreciate seeing them in my neighborhood. This Fire Station is a safe haven for anyone in trouble. They are always on duty.

By comparison, the new one is much better and much more fitting, while still being moderately loud but not earsplitting, presumably due to both the ceilings being a lot higher and the tables being more spaced apart. As mentioned by most others, the portions here are rather massive for NYC, even in comparison to some diners and delicatessens, which makes the prices pretty reasonable. Our large group went here for something I rarely do: brunch. The servers were reasonably overwhelmed, but still friendly. Knowing how big the portions are, I only ordered the $22 Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which is typically served with pepper jack cheese, crispy onions, and hot sour pickles on a home-baked brioche bun. I did something I rarely do, which was ask for a substitution. In this case, it was cheddar instead of pepper jack, and it was obliged. The sandwich was quite large and a bit difficult to pick up, as it was pretty messy, but the flavor was nice. The chicken was juicy, the batter was pretty light, and there was a load of crispy onions. The pickles added a bit of sour crunch and a bit of heat, and the bun did just well enough to keep it all together. Overall, it was tasty. In terms of other dishes, there were a ton. I had one of the many tasty Deviled Eggs for $15, served with pickled mustard seed, smoked paprika, and pickle chips. From the same appetizer section, I particularly enjoyed the $13 Okra & Chilies, made from smoked & pickled okra, red pepper flakes, and scallion. I liked the smokiness, and the okra had some good grill marks, with this being the lightest dish on the table, outside of the Pickle Sampler someone else got. If you're looking to have a heart attack, I would order the decent $19 Poutine. Featuring fries smothered in brown gravy, cheese, and a hollandaise drizzle, I would compare it more to disco fries or other forms of loaded fries. This was due to the lack of cheese curds and the style of gravy. Outside of the comically massive portion, it's fine. In terms of other mains, a few had the two types of Smothered Chicken, either with sausage or mushrooms, for $24. Someone else ordered the non-spicy version of the same sandwich I got. Finally, another got the gigantic $24 Chicken & Waffles, consisting of buttermilk fried chicken, a golden waffle, house maple butter, and powdered sugar.
