We used Fattori Car service for both an airport transfer and a Day trip from Rome to Pompeii during our March 2014 trip to Roma. The reservation was booked by email with Laura.
Although the airport transfer went off without a hitch. We are still steaming about the Pompeii Day Trip.
The price for the Rome to Pompeii day trip was 600 euro, which is equivalent to a little over $800 US dollars. For this price, we expected a first class PRIVATE day tour in a decent size Mercedes, with a driver experienced enough with the region to know where Mt. Vesuvius is, and which side the ocean is on, when you are driving south. What we got was this:
When our driver, Lorenzo picked us up, we noticed there was a woman in the front passenger seat. This was not supposed to be, as it was very clear that we booked a private tour. He explained to us that she was another driver. Although we doubted this explanation, we decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, as the trip progressed, the way the two interacted revealed that their relationship was not a professional one, but a personal one. Half an hour into our trip, and we were stunned to realize that Lorenzo had brought his girlfriend along on a DATE at our expense!! The problem with this is that the car was not a larger model Mercedes, but a smaller one. The girlfriend who sat in the front seat had her seat pushed all the way back. This seriously limited the legroom for us, the paying customer. Another problem was that since this was a smaller model car, the presence of the girlfriend blocked our view of the scenery outside. (I have attached a photo to of said girlfriend in front seat to illustrate this fact.)
In addition to the girlfreind, Lorenzo was also not an experienced driver. He had no idea where Pompeii was, nor could he figure out where the Marina Gate was. Even with GPS, he had to stop and ask for directions in excess of 5 times. I would say it was a complete waste of 600 euro and a day in Rome.
After we returned we notified Laura of our terrible experience. Usually, when a REPUTABLE business has not delivered on a service, they will do everything in their power to make things right. The following is the word-for word reply I received from Laura:
"Okay I can not do anything other than apologize and offer a free transfer but if you think we are not a serious company, do as you think and also notifies the other travelers, I repeat this will bring serious damage to the image resulting in economic damage."
Obviously, Fattori is not a reputable business, and given the way they treated, us, they don't deserve your business. read more
