Well we were kinda sketchy @ first about going here. We've been craving fatte Albert's pizza for about 3 months now bc the one in Hanford closed down . But I ended up calling this fatte Albert's in coalinga & talked to one of the workers from there. She was convincing so me and the wife decided to take the hour and 15 minute drive to Coalinga. Great choice! I personally think this fatte Albert's pizza tasted better than the one in Hanford but who really knows when you haven't had the Hanford pizza in over 3 months right. Anyhow, the young ladies in the pizza joint were very nice & friendly. (That's a huge plus for me & my wife). They didn't serve beer in the pizza place but the bonus was that the bar next door was connected to the pizza joint! . And the young lady bartender was on point!! Stopped here after a hard days work in the heat looking for a cold beverage, Pam the bartender greeted us with a warm smile and open arms and new we needed a cold beer which was delicious. We were hungry and decided to go for a pepperoni and olive pizza. This guy Chris came out who had some nice ink and a hell of a beard brought our pizza out and talked to us a bit and was a really good guy. The pizza was fantastic, they loaded it up with the toppings we wanted it was so good. The beer was so cold. If you are in town I would recommend it 100%. My Family and I decided after having a member traveling to Coalinga & working all day, we would order 2 large pizzas. Maybe the first hint was an 8 minute hold on the phone, having to hang up & call back, & forgiving past reviews of under cooked crust for years, that doesn't hold up to the toppings on the pizza. By far the best pizza in town. It is the original pizza spot though. The thick crust is the best! The pizza can be very greasy so if you hate grease it may not be for you. I just dab the pizza with some paper towles and go about my meal. I usually go for the original pepperoni pizza. Sometimes we will get a custom pizza with chicken and other toppings but it does get pricey when going that route. Appetizers: The wings are good. We always ask to have them cooked longer so that they are crispy, if not they dont come out that way. My favorite appetizer they have is the tater munchies. They are like tots with cheese and jalapenos inside. They are so good. Has a tiny spice but nothing crazy. The fried calamari is another one of my favs here. There is nothing "special" about them necessarily but they are good! I also have had the burgers and they are great too. I usually get it with a side of seasoned fries. Service here is usually good. Have not had a major issues myself with any staff. Some days orders do take longer and I'm not suprised this pizza place is the best in town. read more

Stopped here tonight for the first time. The employees had no sense of professionalism what so ever. They were openly complaining about. people coming in to eat, and they were supposed to close at 9:00pm this was at 8:15 the big guy with the tattoos and beard said he will no longer accept orders at 8:25. He went as far as meeting people outside at the door to ask if they were coming to order or picking up an order. If they said they were hoping to order he would inform them that was not gonna happen because he was supposed to leave at 9:00. maybe they should adjust their hours to close at 8:00 if leaving right at 9 is such a priority. In the south valley, this pizza is unforgettable. What can I say, I grew up eating this pizza through my early teenage years and now through the years it's still taste the same as before. Sure it has its downside the restaurant but you can't deny the taste, smell and look of this hidden gem pizzeria. The prices are still rocket high and service is mediocre. I suggest for anybody who is passing through Coalinga or is a newbie to just stick to the pizza only. The pizza and crust is the only thing keeping this place together. Everything on the menu is forgettable. Even the ranch is awesome. The garlic cheese bread was way too salty, and too much garlic to even eat. Wings were burn but edible, very average. I should of got the fries instead, it's more better to compliment the pizza. There is a Hanford, CA location but is not the same quality since the makers and cooks are the original breadwinners of this original location. The Hanford, CA is pretty below average and not ever step inside their restaurant. Just remember to avoid this place are 12:00pm-1:15pm Monday through Friday. Because all the hundreds and hundreds of teenagers and children from the schools come to eat and literally make this place into a circus joint. I took my family yesterday to my husband favorite childhood pizza place "Fatte Albert's" a lot has changed since we've last been there. Food was good but toppings were light. But the mouths on the girls especially the loudest one was out of this world. If You want to hear ratchett life stories come to this place. Don't bring your children here since adults talk with a F Bomb after every word. When our food was ready the girl had it in her hand and literally took her over 5 mins to bring it to us because she was in mid ratchett conversation with the other staff. Consist flirting, touchy-feely and one staff member accused the other for doing drugs in the bathroom. We paid good earned money to watch these clowns to show no respect in front of customers and especially my family. I would hope they fix the problem and take there issues to the back and out of customer sight and ears. My children didn't need to hear any of it especially when I get triggered and want to say something like Show some respect and stop don't be inappropriate. The worst! I ordered a pizza and hot wings on line for delivery. Immediately after I placed the order on line, I received an email confirming my purchase. A couple minutes later, I get a call informing me that they were out of wings and that I would be refunded. They asked if I still wanted the pizza and I said yes and repeated my order. An hour later no pizza. I called and the same person that had called me picked up, I inquire about the status of my pizza and they placed me on hold for about 4mins. I hung up, and called backed. Someone different picked up. They couldn't find my order so they said, "it must be out for delivery because I don't see it here". I gave him my address just to confirm and he said that he did not see my order at all. When I informed him I had order it online he said he had to go check the computer. When he came back on the phone, about 3.5 mins later, he informed me that the ticket order was never placed. I was livid! I will never be ordering from here again. So essentially I could still be waiting for my pizza. Thanks for nothing. And I buy pizza for my staff and hosting a lot. I will be ordering my pizza from Me and Eds! read more

I haven't been to Fatte Alberts since I was kid! I could only assume that their pizza would change within that time and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint much. The reason for such low scoring stars is because of their customer service and the presentation of the restaurant. I waited in line, patiently, for a couple minutes while the young man was taking a phone order. He transferred the call to back and didn't say anything to me, didn't even look at me. Didn't bother to say "someone will be right with you" or "sorry for the wait". He just left towards the back. A moment later, a young woman came to took my order. This restaurant needs some remodeling. There's hand written advertising their specials all over the place, unprofessional looking. The young man who was one the phone was wearing slip on sandals with socks! Shouldn't there be some sort of shoe requirements? Shoes should have non-slip soles because your working in a restaurant kitchen. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the pizza! I grew up in Coalinga and Fattes was the place to go! Arcade games and some deelish pizza was a no brainer! I remember the crust used to be so big and the ranch containers used to be a pretty decent size for dipping them fatte crusts, but upon a recent visit i found that the pizza i grew up eating has changed quite a bit. I dont remember the cheese being so salty or the crust being so tiny..what happened? And its pretty expensive. I guess its more of a nostalgic thought more than anything now. I usually don't right bad reviews, but this is the second time things have gone bad and the staff are rude and unwilling to come to a resolution. The first mistake was when I placed a large order for delivery, waited 30 minutes past the ETA and called to see where it was at. The staff said they cancelled my order because they were too busy. No phone call, nothing, now it's 9 pm in Coalinga and nothing to eat. I let that go and now tonight just a few months later, I place an order with an ETA of 7:50 pm, wait til 8:25 and call them and they say we're busy, your order just left a couple of minutes ago. It will be there any minute. At 8:50 pm I call them back and a lady answered this time, I ask about my order and she said it just left the restaurant it will be there soon. Order arrives while I'm on the phone, everything cold, I let her know this and she say's that's impossible, it just came out of the oven a few minutes ago. I informed her the previous guy already told me it left the store 45 minutes prior. Her response was, what do you want me to do about it, I just work here. You could start with working on your tone of voice, don't lie to me and maybe be a slight bit apologetic. I'm sure they won't get a third chance. Growing up in the Central Valley this was the place to get pizza. The high school crowds, and locals enjoyed their tasty and super affordable lunch special of a big slice and a drink. About a month ago I returned to this place with the high expectations of my childhood memories. While I was in town for my high school reunion and I am happy to report it lived up to my reminiscent expectations. Upon entering all my memories came right back as well as that amazing pizza smell. The pizza was warm, greasy, and had a fluffy crust. Just as I remembered it! This place is plain good. I hear there are other locations, but I also hear they do not live up to their expectations. I love this pizza! I grew up eating the lunch specials. In fact my sister loved it so much she asked if they would air mail her one when she was pregnant. The things that make it amazing are thoes that some people don't like: its Greasy, the bottom crust is thin and not crispy, but the outside is thick and doughy. Personally I like to roll it up lake a taquito and eat it that way. If only I could fit that fat piece into the ranch container. They have the BEST ranch! The only bad thing I can say (hence the low star rating) is the customer service. Maybe the owners will see enough of them to enforce a change. My friend and I stood in line behind one person on a Saturday around 1:30 pm. She took the people in front of ours orders, then went to the back for what I thought was an extended period of time.(I used to manage a pizza place, and i thought she was the only one working and went back to make the pizza until I saw the other employees come up, who also didn't acknowledge our existence) she finally came back up front and started doing something else. Then she answered the phone twice and took two orders (still without even looking at us) and then went to the back again! I was ready to walk out, and any other restaurant I would have! We were still the only customers in the place. I was about to walk out when she finally came back and just looked at us! By this time there were at least 4 other large groups of people behind us So i quickly placed our order for 2 lunch specials (in fear that she would just walk away again) when another employee came up. I don't care about Fatte's pizza. Their Fatte Pizza Rolls are amazing. These little rolls are a lot like cinnamon rolls except the tucked between the layers is pepperoni, sauce, cheese and all the other yummy things you might want on your pizza. The first time I had these, I was nearly speechless. I buy these for my friends regularly to familiarize them with this treat. It's some of the best pizza stuff around. Fatte's is a locally owned and managed Pizzaria which is attached to the bar, Pit Stop, next door. This sometimes results in slower service even though it may LOOK totally non-busy in the Pizza shop. Much of their business is run by high school students taking advantage of their great lunch special: a huge slice of pizza and a soda for $3.50 (I'm pretty sure). This is an inexpensive and filling meal but it's not always the freshest if you come in during the lunch rush. The drinks tend to be filled up ahead of time, and may not be quite as zippy as if they were poured at your arrival. Not to excuse the sometimes less than spic and span, but if you arrive anywhere close to lunch time, all bets are off. Most of us locals time our eating time to miss that period of lunch: 12:25 - 1:15 PM is the time to avoid in general. I do find myself trying to clean up on my own when I get there at times when it's really messy. It's not that there's gross stuff on the tables or anything, they just aren't fresh. Although the staff is brusk at times as they are busy providing food for both establishments (Pit Stop and Fatte's) they are usually friendly and able to accommodate special needs and requests. I own a business nearby and sometimes go over for pitcher of ice. They are very kind in filling my pitcher and doing it with a smile! Having read reviews that this is even better then the one in Hanford that I frequent weekly....challenge accepted. And...disappointment. Maybe it was just today. The pizza looked the same, but the sauce tasted different. Which makes no sense, unless this location uses a different sauce. What I love about Fatte Alberts is the chewy soft crust. I have sensitive teeth. It was not soft today, here. It was almost crunchy. Darn. Then there was the size difference.....Ordered 2 small pizzas, and mine was half the size of my husbands. In Hanford, my pie would have been the size that his was. Hopefully I can post a picture. Not sure what that was about. But I got a pretty small pizza with maybe a handful of cheese on it. Called in for a pick up & couldnt believe that they had totally changed everything about what made their pizza so good! The pizza was so thin, dough was under cooked, the sauce tast like tomatoe sauce..i just couldnt believe it. No more thick crust! That was the best part of eating their pizza..I understand they probably need to generate enough funds to stay a float especially closing due to a fire & now Conronavirus. But cutting down the quality of their food is not the way to go. Because for me & im sure i speak for many Coalinga residents i have no problem paying abit more for my order. Dinning area is very dirty as well. Garbage can is over flowing and floor has food all over the place. Tables were never wiped down team members just picked up food and garbage and that was it.
