We went around 730 pm so there was plenty of street parking. Small place so very convenient to order, grab, and go. Ordered the lamb and chicken gyro platter. Tried to order and was told they closed at 9pm. (Mind you it's 8:55pm) idc 5 mins of service wouldn't kill anyone. When online it says they'd be open until 10:45pm. So disappointing considering I've been craving this food. I guess I know where I won't be going hours before close god forbid I look at their hours and attempt to order accordingly. read more

I have gotten Moe's twice recently and both times were very good! I got the chicken shawarma platter both times and I was not disappointed. The chicken was very flavorful and they pack it in there. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were fresh and added brightness to the platter. The rice was perfectly cooked. The platter comes together with a white sauce, but the hot sauce packs a super flavorful punch. I'm looking forward to making Fat Moe's a regular part of my food rotation. read more

Been here a few times and I usually get the gyro platter which is solid and very filling. I always wanted to get the gyro sandwich so I got the gyro sandwich yesterday and it was solid as well. It looks small but it is packed with gyro meat. For the price which was about $9.58 including tax, I would opt to get the platter. I will be coming back but only for the platter. * white sauce they use is NOT tzatziki sauce, it's the halal style white sauce. read more

This place is clean, quick, and pretty decent. We tried the beef shawerma sandwich, the chicken shawerma sandwich, and the fries. Their sandwiches were packed with meat, which was tender and flavorful. The side order of fries was huge. Us two people couldn't finish them all. They cooked the food while we waited (about 15-20 minutes). We definitely recommend this cute little place in Hawthorne. They have a variety of food, drinks, etc. We will be regulars. read more

Ordered delivery yesterday. I had to feed my mother-in-law at lunchtime and she's partial to Mediterranean food. I had brought her to work with me and she can't walk well, so we couldn't leave the building at lunchtime. We shared a mixed platter and a couple of orders of spinach pie, and she was delighted. The spinach pie was light, delicate and delightful. The mixed grill was juicy. They gave us two things of sauce so we had more than enough. Delivery was fast & friendly. This was the most delicious falafel I ever ate (and I'm middle eastern). All the food... the falafel, pita, hummus, grape leaves were made from the freshest ingredients. I ordered a falafel sandwich and didn't even know the garlic white sauce and garlic hot sauce (both superb) were in the bag. It was such a moist and herb-filled delight with just the pita and lettuce, that I devoured it. It didn't need any sauce, because it was that good!! I'm not usually a fan of falafel as it is usually made poorly with few herbs and over fried and dry and not made with the freshest ingredients. Freshness is key to all food, and middle eastern food is no exception. In fact, authentic middle eastern food must be fresh otherwise would be rejected as no good. The pita was so fresh and they included several of them to accompany our made to order vegetarian platter. Being vegetarian, we asked if they could make us a platter with hummus and dolma. Wow, we used the pita as shovels to dip into the absolutely creamy and delicious hummus. It was so fresh and flavorful and not greasy. We make our own hummus at home regularly as the store bought kind is not palatable. This was incredible hummus. The dolma was also out of this world. The grape leaves were so fresh and delicate and it was not acidic; again, some of the best I have eaten in my life which says a lot since I've eaten some incredible homemade dolma in my life. Finally, we ordered French fries. I think they were double fried the French way and they tasted like potatoes. They were so delicious and addictive. We ate too much as the food demanded it, everything being so delicious and fresh and homemade. We live almost an hour drive away. This quality of middle eastern food doesn't exist in our town so it was such a superb treat for us. Thank you! read more

I recently moved to jersey from nyc and one of things I missed the most is halal food. This place really hits the spot, the gyro platter is really good. The rice and meat is seasoned really well. The white sauce passes the test but the hot sauce is weak. The price isn't nyc prices but the 13 bucks you pay you get a pretty generous amount. Definitely good to coming back. read more

Really good platters spot in the area. I like that the platters weren't covered in grease from grill. They do care about the quality of each platter as it is made. The price point is a bit higher than other spots nearby. It was quiet when we walked into the building. Very clean and respectable service. They did admit another spot had good platters which must have been tough to say but I admired their humbleness. I didn't get to try their shakes or dessert but it looked good. Definitely will return again if I am in the area. read more

The owner is very nice and has an amazing memory. I went for the first time last year and he forgot to put in my dessert. I decided to stop by today and he forgot again so i said something and he was like I forgot last year too and gave me two desserts. The babaganoush is other worldly. I wish I liked the fallafel filling but I don't. The platter with chicken is good. The white sauce is a tad too sweet for me almost tasted like ranch. Overall its a good welcoming place. read more

Wow I was so excited to have a new platters in town and finally tried it today. We got a mixed platter, spinach pie and meat pie and some other items. Disappointment isn't even the word. The meat in the platters was tough and chewey.. The white sauce was disgusting, it's like they use some off brand dollar store mayo. The meat pies were dry and flavorless and the spinach pie was depressingly sour. Tabouli and fattoush salads were ok in flavor but didn't seem fresh and were super watery. Unfriendly guy at the counter also. I'm floored. This place tastes like someone's learning to cook but hasn't figured it out quite yet. We have such amazing halal food around like house of platters in haledon and of course juicy platters in Fair lawn... Like how can this place even call itself a platters place? Recently ordered some take out from this new place. I hope they work on improving because I would love to have a great Mediterranean place in town. I got hummus, grape leaves and a gyro sandwich. The hummus had a weird aftertaste and I wound up tossing it out. The grape leaves were lacking flavor. I've been eating stuffed grape leaves from various cultures for more than 40 years. These were very bland. Disappointing. The gyro was so overstuffed with very chopped up meat that I couldn't eat it as a sandwich. It was more appropriately spiced, but needed more balance of veg to meat and more sauce to balance the onions/garlic. Overall, not comparable to other area Mediterranean restaurants. But I do hope they work on it and improve. read more

The gyro can be a big hit or miss sometimes. It's been mostly good when I've gotten it. The fries have just the right amount of crunch. The hot sauce is too smoky and detracts from the flavor of the meet. The platters are pretty big but the rice is just kinda meh. The lamb gyro is my recommendation. I tried the beef sandwich once but it was doused in hummus, I couldn't taste the beef at all. Moe (or whomever the manager is most nights) is super friendly and welcoming. read more

Could be better. Folks are pleasant, but I got a beef shawarma, and it was pretty underwhelming. A little beef and VERY little by way of vegetables. The thing was flat as a pancake. Felt like a flimsy Starbucks offering. No frills. I recommend, for $6, you fatten it up slightly. shove some extra veggies in there! Taste was good. This place is great! But I say 4 stars because I wasn't amazed.......but that could be because my friends built the hype up that much. Either way I will be returning Combo shawarma? It hit the spot! Why I say 4 stars? It's the little things that most businesses do, that this place did not. My friend had issues with phone orders n delivery....sad part it's less than 1/4 mile away from his place and the delivery took close to an hour That said, I made my order inside. It was on point, hot & tasty at home, and large enough for two meals. Hot sauce was a tad too much fire for me. The little things that other businesses provide that they didn't and can easily change. When I asked for white sauce and hot sauce. They said "pour your own over there". Good, if you like a a lot of it. Bad if you are in a rush. Most businesses have it already in little containers, here? Nope. Put it in your own little container. Overall, food was great! But not at the 5 star point. Maybe bcs hype was over built from friends and their pics trying to make me jealous, or it really wasn't 5 star. That said, you be judge and check it out. Overpriced, and food at best is average. I ordered the chicken shawarma not all that great I've definitely have had better, the chicken had too much of a seasoning going on. The order was still wrong after having her reiterate it to me before we hung up, she was rude as well. Delivery was supposed to be 40 mins ended up being over an hour, didn't apologize so we didn't tip. read more

We moved and it was finally time to try to find our new go-to place for our pide fix and out of the 10+ restaurants in the area that also serve pide... I chose this one. This place is conveniently located on a very central and busy street. It's mostly street parking (good luck) though they do have 2 dedicated spaces in front if you're lucky. It's a cozy place with maybe 4 tables when you walk in - all were full when we got there around 1 pm on a Monday that happened to be a federal holiday - and we were told that there were more seats around the corner. They built an addition - you will be briefly exposed to the outdoors for a few steps - and it's so much more roomier and brighter with more (and larger) tables. It's climate controlled as well. There was only one man manning the front and everyone else is in the kitchen so expect some wait if it's busy and especially if you're in the separate room, but it honestly wasn't that bad for us. We were all given menus (the two adults AND my two young kids) and given sufficient time to peruse. The menu is fairly simple: they specialize in pide and lahmacun. There's a small salad section and beverages but no dessert. Their pide is different from what I'm used to; they have a super long version that is at least 2 feet long (don't quote that; I didn't bring my tape measure) and a round one that is likely around 12 inches in diameter. I focused on the cheese pide section and the drinks and ordered: Kaşarli Pide (mozzarella pide) - this was for my daughter. It is LONG. I'd venture to say it could even be 2-1/2 feet long as the ends were longer than the board it was on. The dough for this is stretched thin so it comes out almost like boat shaped flatbread with an equally thin, but adequate layer of cheese. It's crisp with a chew and is positively delightful. It says mozzarella, but the cheese used in pide always seems to be more and wonderfully three dimensional. Yuvarlak Kaşarli Yumurtali Pide (2 egg and cheese round pide) - I actually wanted the cheese with tomato long pide but I was also intrigued by a circular one so he added in some sliced tomatoes in this as well! We weren't sure how to eat it as the eggs were still mostly raw but we ended up breaking it up and spreading it everywhere and just cutting it like a pizza. It was AMAZING. The dough on this is thicker than the long pide but not very thick either. Not as crispy but does have crispy edges. The combination I got from this was perfection. I can't pinpoint it but it's definitely juicier - whether that be grease, tomato juices, the egg, or all the above - and that made it nice. Very nice. Ayran - we always order ayran when we get pide. This place doesn't make their own, sadly, but it was nice. It's essentially a salty yogurt drink and still hit the spot. Şalgam (fermented turnip juice) - this is completely new to us. I got this because I noticed that almost every Turkish restaurant in the area also offered this as a beverage and adventurous me got curious. They don't make their own so it's bottled and they only have the spicy version (which is the default). This thing is STRONG. It's got an earthy taste to it like beets (but it's mostly made of purple carrots for color and turnips) but it packs a punch like pickle juice and V8. Salty, spicy, earthy, intense... deep flavors. And I LOVED it at first sip. I chugged the first third. It actually reset my stomach enough that I ate more pide, haha. BUT definitely an acquired taste. My husband thought it was okay and let me have most of it. This drink surprisingly contains wheat, so avoid if there's an allergy. Note: my youngest child has multiple food allergies including to wheat and eggs. They don't have a gluten free alternative, unfortunately. There's a sign saying no outside food allowed, but we brought him his pizza and he was perfectly content with that. We never managed to ask the man if it was okay since he was in and out fast, but he didn't question us when he caught a glimpse of the Pyrex. The pide both came with their own pizza cutter wheel for convenience. They also typically come with pickles on the side but we opted out because their pickles contain garlic. I'm supposed to be trying other pide places to give everyone a fair chance, but I've fallen in love with this place. Even my husband who mostly eats to survive... well, he said it was good (which is huge compared to his usual "it's okay"s). They have good service, the pides are stupendous, it's clean (antibacterial wet wipes at every table), single restroom is tidy, and they introduced me to şalgam. I'm thrilled Pide 28 was my first foray into Turkish food in NJ and am looking forward to trying all the cheese pides on their menu in due time.

Just had the lamb gyro. I don't think I've ever had a better one! The meat was generously carved fresh off of the vertical rotisserie and is 100% lamb, not a lamb/beef mix. It is served with lettuce, tomatoes and onion as well as their "white sauce" on a grilled pita bread. I am used to gyros being served with the more common yogurt-based tzatziki sauce (which is available if you ask) but their white sauce which tastes like it has a mayonnaise base makes it even better! Honestly as soon as I walked in this new food place in town , I was excited and I came here as soon as I got the chance . Everything was sanitary and clean and the food smelled delicious . I ordered a mixed platter and everyone was so kind and nice to me . It made you feel as if you were family . I waited about 5-7 minutes for my mixed platter and when I got it , I was pleased with the amount and the food tasted just like , if not , better than what I was expected .
