We had to try it! We both had the steaks, my wife having the ribeye and I had the New York strip. We both had the fully loaded sweet potato. I had the salad bar and she had the corn. Everything was incredibly tasty. The owner was very friendly unhelpful and it was fun to read up on the history of the railroad car. If we are ever back in the area, it is definitely on our list of places to visit again.

It provides an unique environment with a folksy vibe. The railroad car does not look as clean and crisp as their web page photo and it's been painted what appears to be a dark burgundy. It was dark and raining so it's hard to say on the color. Inside is cozy and comfortable. It's a neat venue. The menu consists of typical American comfort food, at least for the south. Three of us us ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and fried okra. The outlier ordered fried chicken livers with French fries and fried okra. All four of us were pleased with our meals. The chicken fry was good as were the potatoes and cream gravey. The fried okra was excellent. The chicken livers were excellent and begged for mashed potatoes and cream gravey. The French fries Ken ordered weren't very good. I think they were under cooked. We had a nice, enjoyable dinner. The service was excellent and the prices moderate

It took an unusually long time to get greeted after we walked in. After showing us to a table, the hostess just dropped the menus and silverware on the table and walked away. When our server took our order after taking orders from another couple (she apologized to them for the long wait.). Then came for our order, again apologizing for the wait. Then came an exceptionally long wait for our food. I had catfish, excellent, by the way, Wife had chicken fried steak. It was almost black. Even with steak knives, it could not be cut. The gravy was good. But not soft enough to penetrate the breading. It was a bummer of a date night. Yes, we should have sent it back, but I was too busy eating my fish to see the problem.

The Las Americas Restaurant had a very delicious parlando pepper stuffed with cheese, lightly breaded and coated with tomato based sauce. It was well balanced with flavors. The Carne Asada Burrito was a bit greasy, but flavors were spot on. Mexican Husband ordered the Carne Asada Gorditas. The flavor was fresh combo of meat & veggies. Mexican Tamale was enjoyable with a good measure of masa and pork. The restaurant was moderately kept, and has air conditioning. The restaurant has a pick-up window, and at times the wait staff was attending to it. Overall a nice visit.

We had couple ribeyes, pork chop, burnt ends, appetizers, plus mac and cheese and grilled cheese for the kids. Great food for super cheap! Let's talk about the ribeye -- the seasoning was absolutely spot on, and the crust/sear on the steak was on point too! The only thing to keep in mind is that the ribeye is on the thinner side. It's definitely not your typical thick-cut steakhouse ribeye. But don't get me wrong, it was still delicious and packed with flavor! The burnt ends were also delicious and probably one of my favorites from the meal. I would order those over and over again! We also got the appetizer -- I believe it was called the Texas Fingers or something similar -- with spicy pickles and cheese curds. It was pretty good and definitely a fun appetizer to share. The restaurant was BUSY! But it had a really cool atmosphere. Being in a small town, it honestly felt like every single person in town was there on Friday night . Now, the reason I'm taking off one star: the service was slow. Our server was nice, don't get me wrong, but she kept forgetting things and wasn't very attentive. We constantly had to wave her down instead of her taking the initiative to check on the table. That part definitely got a little frustrating. Overall though, the food was delicious, the prices were great, and the atmosphere was fun. 4 out of 5 stars! We will definitely be back!
